Story
**BY APPOINTMENT ONLY WITH APPROVED APPLICATION!**Jagger is a handsome German Shepherd puppy with soulful eyes and a gentle heart. Like many young pups, he’s still learning the ins and outs of being a puppy — figuring out toys, discovering how fun belly rubs can be, and bravely exploring the world one paw at a time.Right now, Jagger can be a little shut down in new situations. The world feels big, and he’s still building his confidence. But underneath that shy exterior is a sweet, loyal companion just waiting to blossom. Once he feels safe, he leans in for quiet affection, follows his people from room to room, and gives the softest little tail wags when you tell him he’s a good boy. He’s especially fond of cozy blankets, gentle ear scratches, and carrying around a toy that’s almost as big as he is.Jager would thrive with a patient, understanding family who will help him continue to grow at his own pace. Positive reinforcement training, structure, and consistency will help him feel secure and confident. Puppy classes would be a wonderful way for him to bond with his people and continue building social skills. It’s important to remember that German Shepherds are an incredible but demanding breed. They are intelligent, driven, and deeply loyal — but they can also be “a lot” in the best way. They require dedicated training, mental stimulation, enrichment activities, and regular exercise to truly thrive. Puzzle toys, scent games, structured walks, and ongoing learning will be key to helping Jager grow into a well-balanced adult. With time, patience, and love, Jagger has all the potential to become an amazing family companion — the kind of dog who bonds deeply, protects fiercely, and loves wholeheartedly. If you’re ready to invest in his future and guide him as he learns about the world, Jagger just might be your perfect match. If you are interested in adopting me please call Macomb County Animal Control at (586)469-5115, to schedule an appointmentFor all other animals walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $350

Story
Meet Lemon!Lemon is 2 year old girl looking for a running buddy and an active person! Here is the scoop on Lemon:-She loves the outdoors and is ready to explore it all with you. -She does well with dogs but would also be ok as the only pet. -No cats in the home for her please. Lemon thinks cats are fun to chase.-Kids? We think she might do ok with kids. She can be a little shy so just go at her pace!-Lemon would not do well in an apartment or condo. A house with a yard sounds more like her jam! She needs space to roam. Lemon is so sweet, gentle, and ready to jump in your car. If Lemon sounds like your kind of dog, call the shelter to schedule a meet and greet. You will not be disappointed. If your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. Be prepared to adopt and to bring a home a new family member. We cannot place puppies/dogs on hold to come pick up for another day.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Meet Sushi!Sushi is a 1 year old beautiful girl waiting for her furever home. German Shepherd people.... you have found your perfect dog. Here are the details on Sushi:- She is loving, loyal, intelligent, and sticks to your side like glue. - She is looking for an active owner. Someone that can take her for walks around the neighborhood and play fetch in the yard. Sushi still has some puppy energy and could use some additional training. It is not required but suggested.-A house with a yard is required. A fenced in yard would be ideal but not necessary.-Sushi might do well with another dog. If you currently have a dog in the home, we would schedule a meet and greet to make sure everyone gets along. She would also be content as the only dog. If you have had German Shepherds before (or and love the breed, come and meet Sushi or call the Humane Society of Macomb for more info.If your application was approved and you received a call back from the Humane Society of Macomb for a meet and greet, plan to take the animal home that day. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. My name is Duke and I’m definitely royalty! The elderly gentleman who adopted me as an 8-week old puppy had to undergo emergency surgery and lost his leg to diabetes, leaving himunable to properly care for me. I was only 10 months old at the time. I am now a 14-month oldstrapping young pup who has known only love and playtime my whole life. I have boundlessenergy and am up for whatever game you have in mind.. tug, fetch, long walks, you name it! Ineed a securely fenced yard as I know no boundaries (having been raised on 25 acres and loveto chase the wildlife, i.e., critters, deer, nothing is off limits)! Although I have shared my homewith cats as a puppy, my foster mom thinks I play a little too rough to be trusted with smalleranimals now that I’m grown up. I have not been introduced (other than thru my kennel;) to myForster Mom’s dog as he is a special needs dog with delicate hips. Although I display “normal”fencing behavior in my kennel, it appears that I may be ok with another dog my size or largergiven slow, proper introduction. However, I will also do well as as only dog with an owner thatcan spend daily, quality time with me.I have a high energy personality and CANNOT be crated. I am strong and have destroyed alarge crate from the inside out. I do well in a large welded wire kennel, (minimum size 6 x 8 x4), which I’m comfortable indoors at night in. My Foster Mom keeps me safe during the day ina 10 x 8 x 6 kennel which I cannot topple and am safe in when she is away. As my prior homeoffered me limited opportunity to meet new people, I am wary of strangers and need slow, proper introductions. Once I know you, you are my friend! I bond easily with my “person” andwill guard that person and my home. An experienced owner is preferred. I am NOT a couchpotato - and given the opportunity, I will probably eat your couch! If you’re looking for a constant companion to start every day will a smile, woof and wag - I’myour guy!14 Month old German Shepherd85 lbsNeuteredMicrochippedHouse trainedHigh-energyPlayfulNeeds securely fenced yard and experienced owner. Story
Dorothy is a sweet loving little dog. She loves every person she meets, young, old, male or female, they are all friends. She is also great with all the dogs she meets. Dorothy will give a small growl if another dog is pushing her too far, but as long as the humans step in and make the other dog give her a break she will settle and not take it any farther. She is a lover, not a fighter. Dorothy would love a home with a doggie friend as well as a family that enjoys cuddling with her.
