APPROVED APPLICATIONS ONLY - NOT FOR WALK-IN VISITSSome dogs walk into your life and immediately trust you. June isn`t one of those dogs.At just 3 years old, and 50 pounds, this beautiful German Shepherd has already experienced more instability than any dog should. After being bounced from home to home multiple times, June learned that people don`t always stay. Understandably, she became cautious, guarded, and uncertain about who she could trust.Since coming into our care, we`ve been working diligently to help June rediscover what it means to feel safe and loved. While she has made progress, June remains a special girl who will need a very special adopter.June is looking for an experienced German Shepherd enthusiast—someone young, active, and knowledgeable about the breed`s unique needs and incredible potential. She is not a dog who will thrive spending her days alone in the backyard, even though a privacy-fenced yard is a requirement for her new home. June craves purpose, structure, and partnership. She wants a job to do and a person to do it with. Her ideal adopter will be committed to ongoing socialization, daily exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. June is intelligent, driven, and loyal—the very qualities that make German Shepherds such remarkable companions when placed in the right hands.Because building trust takes time, June`s adoption is available by approved application only. Once an application is submitted and approved by MCAC staff, a staff member will schedule a visit for you to spend time getting to know June. She may need several visits before she fully lets her guard down, but when she chooses you, it will be a bond unlike any other. The best relationships aren`t always the easiest ones. Sometimes they`re the ones that require patience, understanding, and a willingness to show up again and again. June is waiting for someone who understands that. Her adoption fee is $200, and she is up-to-date on all vaccines and preventative care, heartworm negative, and is ready to begin her next chapter.

Meet Sydney!Meet Sydney, a sweet and affectionate 2-year-old Shepherd/Rottweiler mix who is ready to find a family of her own! This beautiful girl has a big heart and loves spending time with her people. She’s always happy to greet her favorite humans with plenty of kisses and affection!Sydney came to us with an older injury to one of her front legs, and she has been healing and receiving care while in our shelter. Despite everything she has been through, Sydney has remained a loving, happy girl who is always ready to spend time with her favorite people. She has been such a sweetheart throughout her recovery, and we’re excited to see her getting ready for the next chapter of her life.Sydney is a pleasure to walk and has nice leash manners, making her a great companion for neighborhood strolls and spending time outdoors. She also gets along well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship. This smart girl already knows how to sit, especially when there’s a tasty treat involved! She’s eager to please and would love a family who will continue teaching her new things with positive reinforcement, patience, and plenty of encouragement.Sydney has been through a lot, and now she deserves a loving home where she can continue to heal, relax, and simply be a dog. She has so much love to give and is ready to find the family who will give her the forever home she’s been waiting for.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is Sponsored

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lexie is a 4-5 year old GSD who is in need of a forever family/person. From her caregiver: She would do best in a home with no other dogs, small animals or small children, children over 10 would be best. She has lived outside of a warehouse majority of her life, and would love to have a forever home. If you think you are the right fit for Lexie Please contact caregiver directly at 586-540-7047.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  ********************************************************************************** We show some of our adoptable dogs at PetSmart, Utica, each Saturday between the hours of 11:00am and 3:00pm.  Cats typically don't do well at events, so they only attend with a pre-approved meet and greet appointment. Story
Dorothy is a sweet loving little dog. She loves every person she meets, young, old, male or female, they are all friends. She is also great with all the dogs she meets. Dorothy will give a small growl if another dog is pushing her too far, but as long as the humans step in and make the other dog give her a break she will settle and not take it any farther. She is a lover, not a fighter. Dorothy would love a home with a doggie friend as well as a family that enjoys cuddling with her. Story
Learning About Lilya Lilya’s story with us began in Perris, CA. We originally went to pick up, Paris (we believe they are sisters). When we returned for Lilya, we discovered she had already given birth—to 10 puppies (the “Aircraft Litter” ). It took her a little time to settle in, but once she did, we got to see a different side of her—and we’re so glad we did. Lilya is a gentle soul who has really come into her own after decompressing and receiving consistent care. Once she felt safe and well-fed, she proved to be a calm, attentive, and devoted mama. She enjoys spending time outdoors and is very alert and aware of her surroundings. Her doghouse is one of her favorite places, giving her a sense of comfort and security. What we’ve observed so far: A good, attentive mother Enjoys outdoor time and a quieter environment Very observant and aware Finds comfort in her doghouse/safe space Has not shown aggression toward people Lilya is still very much a “blank slate” in many ways. She hasn’t yet been introduced to leash walking or basic obedience, so she’ll need a patient adopter willing to guide her through the fundamentals and help her build confidence at her own pace. She does tend to bark at night in response to coyotes or other outdoor activity, so a more rural or understanding environment would be ideal. The Big Picture:Lilya hasn’t fully shown us all of who she is yet—and that’s okay. Dogs like her often blossom beautifully once they feel safe and secure. With time, patience, and stability, her personality will continue to unfold. She would do best in a calm home that can offer routine, space, and gentle guidance as she transitions into this next chapter of her life.   All MAD dogs come with a Fi Collar and six-months subscription.  If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete an application at this link  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/24689/generic.  We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location.
