APPROVED APPLICATIONS ONLY - NOT FOR WALK-IN VISITSSome dogs walk into your life and immediately trust you. June isn`t one of those dogs.At just 3 years old, and 50 pounds, this beautiful German Shepherd has already experienced more instability than any dog should. After being bounced from home to home multiple times, June learned that people don`t always stay. Understandably, she became cautious, guarded, and uncertain about who she could trust.Since coming into our care, we`ve been working diligently to help June rediscover what it means to feel safe and loved. While she has made progress, June remains a special girl who will need a very special adopter.June is looking for an experienced German Shepherd enthusiast—someone young, active, and knowledgeable about the breed`s unique needs and incredible potential. She is not a dog who will thrive spending her days alone in the backyard, even though a privacy-fenced yard is a requirement for her new home. June craves purpose, structure, and partnership. She wants a job to do and a person to do it with. Her ideal adopter will be committed to ongoing socialization, daily exercise, and plenty of mental stimulation. June is intelligent, driven, and loyal—the very qualities that make German Shepherds such remarkable companions when placed in the right hands.Because building trust takes time, June`s adoption is available by approved application only. Once an application is submitted and approved by MCAC staff, a staff member will schedule a visit for you to spend time getting to know June. She may need several visits before she fully lets her guard down, but when she chooses you, it will be a bond unlike any other. The best relationships aren`t always the easiest ones. Sometimes they`re the ones that require patience, understanding, and a willingness to show up again and again. June is waiting for someone who understands that. Her adoption fee is $200, and she is up-to-date on all vaccines and preventative care, heartworm negative, and is ready to begin her next chapter.

Story
At 2 years old, Harbor is the total package—handsome, adventurous, and full of love. While his striking German Shepherd looks may seem a little intimidating at first, this big guy is nothing but a sweetheart. He has a happy-go-lucky personality and is always ready for whatever adventure comes next.Harbor absolutely loves being outside. Whether he`s exploring a new trail, playing fetch in the yard, or simply soaking up the sunshine, he`s happiest when he`s on the move. One of his favorite ways to cool off is splashing around in his kiddie pool, and if there`s water involved, you can count him in!This friendly boy gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves having canine friends to romp and play with. Because of his strong prey drive, however, Harbor is not a fan of cats and will need a feline-free home.Harbor is looking for an active family with a securely fenced yard where he can safely run, play, and burn off his energy. His gorgeous, thick coat is one of his best features, but it does require regular brushing and occasional grooming to keep him looking and feeling his best.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $150

Story
Say hello to Sasha — a beautiful 8-month-old, 40 pound, German Shepherd mix with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and so much potential waiting to bloom.Like many puppies discovering the world for the first time, Sasha can be a little nervous about new experiences. But underneath that shy exterior is an incredibly loving, intelligent girl who truly wants to connect with her people. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines through.Sasha is already showing how eager she is to learn. She listens exceptionally well and would thrive in puppy kindergarten, basic obedience, and socialization classes. With positive guidance and consistency, she is going to grow into an amazing companion. She’s the kind of dog who wants to make you proud. She also enjoys playing with other dogs and would likely do well with a confident canine friend. However, cats are probably not the best fit for Sasha’s future home.Sasha is up-to-date on vaccines and preventative care and will be available as a foster-to-adopt until after her spay appointment. Her adoption fee is $50.What Sasha needs most is someone willing to help her build confidence and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place after all. In return, you’ll gain a deeply loyal best friend who will love you with her whole heart.
