Story
Meet Ribbons! Ribbons is an adorable 16-week-old Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit that will make you smile every day! Weighing in at just 13 lbs, she`s the perfect little bundle of joy—but don`t let her size fool you! She`s currently growing into her ears and we think she`s just the cutest! Ribbons was found as part of a litter of 5 puppies abandoned in a bin, but her past doesn`t define her—she’s ready to make a fresh start in a loving home! She`s curious, adventurous, and always up for exploring her surroundings, making her an ideal companion for anyone looking to keep up with an energetic, fun-loving puppy.Since Ribbons is still young, she’ll benefit from early training and socialization to help her become the well-behaved, loyal companion she’s meant to be. Whether you`re an experienced dog owner or a first-time puppy parent, Ribbons is sure to bring boundless joy into your life.Ribbons was in a house that had cats, but I was too playful with them. So I would be best in a home with no cats.If you`re ready for a growing puppy full of curiosity and playfulness, Ribbons might just be the perfect match for you! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $150.

Story
Meet Dilly: Your New Best Friend!Hi there! I’m Dilly, and I’m on the lookout for my forever home. I`m a calm, good boy who enjoys a little playtime every now and then. I’m great at catching balls and I’m always up for a game of catch! While I’m generally laid-back, I do have a playful side that comes out when I’m having fun.I’m also a very loyal companion, and I’ll stick by your side through thick and thin. I once stayed close to a volunteer when they slipped on the ice to make sure they were okay! I’m a sweet boy who loves attention and affection, especially belly rubs and gentle pets.Just so you know, I’d would need a home without cats—I get excited and sometimes chase after them. But I’m great with dogs who have a similar temperament to mine, and I love making new doggy friends! If you think I might be the one for you, come visit me at Macomb County Animal Control during our walk-in adoption hours (Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm). My adoption fee is $150, and I can’t wait to meet you!Let’s make some memories together—I’m ready to be your loyal best friend!

Story
This is Duke!Duke is an absolutely loving German Shepherd approximately 4 years of age. He came from an extremely unfortunate situation and had not had much experience with loving, human touch or socialization with other dogs until he came to be with us. Since he has been here, he has absolutely flourished in both areas and is definitely doing well learning his manners on how to respect the space of other dogs in his presence. Duke knows how to sit but still needs a lot of fun practice learning other commands. He takes treats super nice and slow and polite, so training should be fun for EVERYONE.Duke recently discovered that he likes to play with balls, even though he didn`t know what they were before arriving here. He listens well and seems to crave the company of a human companion.Duke is Heartworm positive which means he will have a regimen of treatment that MUST be followed as instructed. After his remaining days of initial medication are complete, he will need to return to MCAC on the instructed two days for injections that will require special care during and after. Following these injections, Duke will require another regimen of medication that must be followed as instructed. After this treatment is over, you will need to be intentional about keeping up on a Heartworm preventative. It is imperative you understand and have experience with this breed. You will also need the patience and dedication to help Duke understand that people are good and caring. Duke will need a good amount of time to be able to decompress in his new home and with your help, we see him being a terrific dog for a family with older or no children. Duke cannot go to a home with cats, so if you have feline friends, feel free to browse other wonderful adoptable dogs here at Macomb County Animal Control. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $100

Story
Meet Balto, a lovable, 1.5-year-old German Shepherd who’s sure to capture your heart! Weighing in at 82 pounds, this big boy is full of love and affection, always seeking attention and belly rubs. However, due to his size and energy, he will need a strong, experienced owner who can provide consistent training and structure.Balto is eager to learn, but he still has a few manners to master. He’ll need help with his food etiquette, including learning how to `wait` before being offered meals. He also needs work on his leash training as he tends to pull on walks. With the right guidance, this intelligent boy will improve quickly and develop into the loyal companion he’s meant to be.Although Balto gets along well with other dogs, it`s best that he be the sole focus until his food manners are addressed. He may inadvertently knock over small children due to his size, so a home with mature, dog-savvy kids or adults only is ideal. If you have experience with big, strong dogs and are ready to provide the training and love Balto needs, he’ll reward you with endless affection and loyalty. Balto is eager to find the right home where he can thrive and be the best companion possible. Could that home be with you?*Balto qualifies for training sponsorship with approved and experienced adopter.*If you are interested in meeting Balto or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, they are open M-F from 10am-4pm.Adoption fee is $200

Story
This beautiful sable-colored German Shepherd is Jasmine.Jasmine weighs just over 60 pounds and is full-grown, but could definitely stand to put a little more meat on her bones. She recently discovered Beggin` Strips treats and sits nicely to receive them.Jasmine was found locally and was turned in to Clinton Township PD where she was then turned over to Animal Control to receive the care she needs.Jasmine has tested positive for Heartworm and will need to go to a special home who not only has in-depth knowledge of her breed, but a a dedication to her treatment consisting of 30 days of antibiotics, injections of medication two days back-to-back, followed by another 30 days of steroid pills to finish the treatment. Heartworm can do serious damage to a dog`s system, so it is imperative you consider this when looking to adopt this precious girl. Jasmine is up to date on all vaccines and will be spayed under the care of Macomb County Animal Control to be scheduled once her treatment is complete. She needs a little time to warm up to someone new, but could be a terrific addition into your loving home.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $200
