Story
Ellie is a 5 year GSD. She is a sweet girl who wasn't socialized as a pup. She is unsure of dogs she's not familiar with. So given her age, and what she's been through suddenly losing the only home and family she's ever know, due to unforseen family issues, we would like her to be the only dog as to not cause anymore undue stress in her life. Ellie loves to play fetch, has grown up with kids, but at this point in her life we would suggest older children. She is up to date on vaccines and is spayed. If you are looking for a great companion and have a low key home, please submit an adoption application.

Story
My name is Rubble. Rubble is my name because I was broken and collapsed but my pieces are strong and able to rebuild. At only 3 years old and 58lbs, I am an incredible companion!Sometimes I am a bit nervous about new people but only because I came from a place where I couldn’t count on the humans around me to have the best of intentions. I have learned that my friends working at the shelter are my true warriors and have been fiercely intentional working on the same goal of giving us the best possible love we can have until we get invited into your homes and life.I was able to take part in a fantastic day at Jimmy John’s Baseball Field which let me show my true athletic nature running bases and posing in the dugout. I can hit the ball, but I might just enjoy bringing you the bat instead. I wasn’t ever truly trained on a leash but I do very well when my handler has the patience and discipline to help me understand all good things come to those who wait and work hard. I sit, shake, and love giving humans kisses. I love to get my morning and afternoon zoomies out, but it’s truly human touch and affection that I crave. I can be the warmest cuddled and also love to rough-house and play with my canine friends here at the shelter. I take treats politely and know how to wait patiently for meal times!I have been here too long. Help me rebuild my love in humans. I am available for adoption now at Macomb County Animal Control. I hope you will come see me and my friends soon.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm. **BISSELL EMPTY THE SHELTERS ADOPTION EVENT TAKES PLACE FROM 7/8 - 7/31. SPECIAL SATURDAY ADOPTION EVENT JULY 20 10am-3pm!**My adoption fee is SPONSORED!

Story
Meet Dreamer, a 4 year old German Shepherd who came in as a stray and was never reclaimed by her previous owner.Dreamer is one of those dogs that you just can`t figure out why no one came to reclaim her as she is an absolute DREAM!Dreamer has shown us what a sweet, docile, submissive and gentle girl she is. She appears to have some knowledge of the German language as she responds to `Platz` (down) and `Seitz` (sit), we are still trying to see if there are other words she may respond to.Dreamer is quiet in her kennel and has not had any accidents since her arrival. She likes the company of other dogs that have her same energy level and it does appear that she may have had a few litters in the past. Dreamer walks nicely on a leash, will fetch the ball and will settle nicely with a good rawhide. She seeks your attention and will stay by your side for as many pets as you can give.Dreamer is now dreaming of a new home that is able to give her the love and attention that she deserves which includes daily excersise/stimulation, a fenced yard for exploring, lots and lots of toys and treats and most importantly a home that she will never have to worry about being left again. We are hoping for a home with prior dog handling experience and knowledge of the Shepherd breed. Children are recommended to be over the age of 8. Dreamer has not had the opportunity to meet with any cats since being here, so if you have one, please be sure to do slow and proper introductions. If you`ve been dreaming of the perfect dog, come meet Dreamer at Macomb County Animal Control. They are open M-F from 10am-4pm and will be open this Saturday July 20th from 10am-3pm.Adoption fee is $150.

Story
Willow is an amazing dog. She is smart, beautiful, and has A LOT of energy. I’ve had her for over a year and a half and just recently moved from an apartment to house where I have seen MAJOR improvements but still has a long way to go. We live with my grandparents who are 80 years old and my 2 cats. She does ok with the cats and tends to chase them even still being over a year later. She is very dog/human reactive and needs to be with the right person who can do that for her. I wouldn’t say no dogs around her ever, she does well slowly. She is a working dog and proves it every day. She has special quirks about her that are a lot to handle but also just too cute. She needs to be in a home with NO other animals to start and a Human who can provide what she needs when it comes to her behavior and energy. She is an awesome dog all around, her current home isn’t meeting her requirements and thats why she needs someone who can give her all of what she needs that I am not able to provide her.
