We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Story
My mom passed from cancer a few years back. Zeus was hers and I didn't feel right just abandoning him so I tried to take him in. I've had him for a while and he's great, but I'm the only one taking care of him and I just don't have the time. Zeus is a loving playful pup with a lot of energy who just wants to loved on and cared for. In a perfect world he'd be adopted by someone with a family and kids who loves dogs and loves to play with them all day long and take them for walks and run around in the grass. I'd love to provide that but I work long days which means he's usually just sitting in the house all day waiting for me to come home; and by the time I am home the last thing I want to do is play with me dog. He deserves better.

Story
Ace is a pure bred long haired German shepherd that came from lionheart shepherds as a puppy. He turned 2 years old in November. He has been through a 3 week residential training through happy tails and knows the basics. Ace is very smart and sweet and lovable. Ace’s only issue is being dog reactive and doesn’t do well with other dogs. He is looking for a new home with no other dogs unfortunately. He is very loyal and like velcro. He’s pretty much the best dog you could ask for other than being dog reactive.

Story
Hello! My name is Rubble. I am a handsome 3-year old Shepherd mix pup looking for my new home.I am such a good boy and I absolutely love being around my human and dog friends. I made a best friend here at the shelter and his name is Diesel. We play so well together and I just loved running around in the yard and playing.I take treats very nicely and I eat very politely, as well. I would definitely benefit from someone who has the dedication to taking me on long walks and working with me on the leash. I haven`t had much experience with cats so feline friends are not a good idea for my new home. Please come see me and my friends today! If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm and Saturday 10am-3pm. Story
Bluebell was a dumped on the street corner where she lived for over a month. We had to trap her to get her off the street. She is an 8 month old GSP, but about the size of a feist. She was malnourished, but is picking up some weight and weighs 25 lbs now. She is very friendly with dogs her size or larger. She does play a little rough with smaller dogs. She paid no attention to the cats walking around. She is up to date on shots, spayed, microchipped, on flea/heartworm prevention, house and crate trained. She is very skittish of big humans, but good with kids and warms up quickly. She walks great on a leash. This sweet girl needs a home to call her own. She would love to snuggle with you each night. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We transport every weekend alternating between the Northeast and Midwest.

Story
Are you looking for : Handsom, tall, loving, snuggly, cuddly, loyal, playful and super sweet? If so look no further, Thor is your dream boy! He is located in East TN but Out of state is welcome! In fact if you’re seeing this on adopt a pet the cost of transport to your area is included in his adoption fee! Meet Thor! He’s one very sweet loving and handsome fella! He is weary at first meeting new people but it doesn’t take long for him to warm up to you. He is sweet and very playful. He likes to play fetch and is active. He would do best in a home with older kids and without young children. They are so excitable and have so much energy that they tend to make him nervous. He does well with other dogs that are confident but not dominant. Scary or fearful shy or overly excitable dogs make him nervous and fear reactive. He lacks confidence and needs a home that will teach him that he’s a good boy and that he’s safe. He has been fine with small dogs but we have been told NO cats. He is crate trained and is doing well with potty training and not going in the house or his crate. He is current in vaccines, neutered and on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. He is protective of his people and his home. He is craving to be loved and love you back ten fold. We use Rescue Riders for all our pet transport needs because they are so good with our dogs! They are the best. They are also a non profit so it’s a win win for all! Please inquire about him at petpathorg@yahoo.com Application is found at petpath.org

Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 50-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.
