Story
(DOB 08/01/2023) This handsome GSD mix never quite grew into his ears, which adds to his charm!! He has a smooth and silky coat and a smile that will  melt your heart. Berkley is an active young guy who’s all about daily playtime, and fun adventures with his family. Whether it’s running around the yard, hiking through the trails, or playing fetch, he’s ready to make every day an adventure. This sweet boy is just looking for the right family to take him home and give him all the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving companion to share your active lifestyle and your heart with, Berkley is your guy!  Berkley is the ultimate toy sharer, and he LOVES playtime—whether it’s chasing tennis balls, showing off his best victory strut with one proudly in his mouth, or sharing a good game of tug-of-war. Berkley is still working on his leash manners, so a fenced in backyard is ideal for him!  He’s a tall boy, with big ears, with an even bigger heart, and who just LOVES being with his people. Whether you’re chilling on the couch, playing in the yard, or out on a fun adventure, Berkley is your ride-or-die sidekick! Berkley would do best in a home with older children who can keep up with his playful spirit. Berkley is also house and crate trained, which means he’s already got some solid house manners in place.   If you’re looking for a sweet, playful companion who will bring joy and energy to your daily life, Berkley is ready to be your new best friend. Come meet this charming guy—he’s ready to run, play, and make every day an adventure with you! As part of Berkley’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Berkely, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##1887422##

Story
Daisy is a tender-hearted girl who is clearly affected by the busy shelter environment and would greatly benefit from a quieter setting. When other dogs walk past her kennel, it can be overwhelming for her. Initially she keeps her distance when meeting new people but treats help a lot to make her more comfortable. Once outside, Daisy is a breeze to walk and enjoys her time away from the noise, even if she may "pancake" on the return trip. With a calm, supportive, and structured home, Daisy would have the chance to decompress. Patient training will help her build trust, confidence, and allow her gentle personality to blossom. She is already spayed and up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, and is microchipped. If you have cats or another dog, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about her, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Daisy, 266045". Story
Derwood is a sweet and gentle 6-year-old who came in as a stray and was never reclaimed. This older gentleman is ready to be someone's loyal sidekick. He leans in for scratches, takes treats with the softest mouth, and loves nothing more than exploring new scents. Derwood gets excited when it's time to leave his kennel-he's eager for adventure-but once outside, he's wonderfully easy to walk. The only challenge comes when it's time to head back in; he'll politely (and hilariously) try to guide you in a different direction. In playgroup, Derwood showed just how very house-trained he is-potty time was his top priority for the first few minutes in the yard. Once that important business was handled, his energy picked up and he became a bit too enthusiastic with his playmate, showing some intense, pouncy behavior. Because he was getting a little amped up, the session was ended early.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Derwood, 265567".
