Story
Meet Reevah UPDATE 5-3-2025 Reevah has come so far in her time with us. She didn’t handle the loud shelter well, she came into heat while there and then after being spayed made the trip from LA to VA. She has settled and adjusted into a super good dog. Working hard on her social skills with other dogs she no longer feels threatened by them and can easily handle car rides and walks with many other dogs. She is absolutely fabulous in an urban environment, load noises and busy streets don’t phase her at all. She is learning to be less reactive when cars pull up and when new people approach. This girl is more than ready for a new home, her adopter will need to be willing to continue working with her to develop a partnership but this girl has so much to give in return. Reevah is a 4-5 yr old 55 lbs German Shepherd mix. She has so many of the incredible GSD traits, we can see her being an incredible partner and could even do service dog work with training. She is very intelligent and her focus on her handler is excellent. She will continue to improve as she gets settled into a permanent home with a consistent partner. She is calm and brave in new places, she isn’t scared of vehicles or equipment and is well behaved in stores and other businesses. She tested fine with a cat and she handles leashed dogs near her fine but she doesn’t like to be loose with other dogs. She will not be able to visit dog parks and we will want her to be an only dog in home unless adopter willing to do crate and rotate procedures. Reevah is located in Warrenton, Virginia currently and transport is available if needed. Her hashtag is #hmrreevah and we will continue to post more photos and videos as we work with her. Please message us if you have a questions or interest in her. If you feel Reevah would be a good companion for your living situation, send in our adoption application and a volunteer will be in touch. https://form.jotform.com/hailmaryrescue/hail-mary-rescue-adoption-applicati To see more pics/vids, put her hashtag into Facebook search bar. #hmrreevah

Story
They are so cute! But, are you ready for a puppy?Remember, getting a puppy is a big responsibility. They can be a 10 to 15+ year commitment. They need to be trained to fit into your family – leash walking, housebreaking, basic commands and expectations. Training does not happen quickly. It takes time and consistency. They require initial and yearly vet exams and vaccinations. Socializing your puppy is also very important, as it can help them become comfortable around new animals, people, and environments. We ask that you take into consideration all of these things before deciding to adopt a puppy. Consider the following: ?Are you able to consistently train your puppy? ?Will everyone in your household work together to take care of the puppy? ?Are you prepared for your puppy to grow into a bigger dog? ?Are you willing to clean up the messes that your puppy will make? ?Are you ready for upcoming vet bills? ?How are you going to socialize your puppy? ?Are other animals in your household able to tolerate a new puppy? If you’re ready to take on the responsibility and JOY of bringing home a new puppy, come out to the shelter and meet your new best friend!
