DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting. ***** Piper is 1yo, weighs 45lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped. She knows the following commands: sit, come, stay, heel. "She loves playing with her toys, water, walks, cuddling up with you, playing fetch and chewing on sticks. Piper is a beautiful, sweet, cuddly dog who is perfect 99% of the time. She gets nervous and drools on car rides." Piper's guardian states the reason he has made the difficult decision to rehome her: "She is resource aggressive and will attack our two senior dogs (one small mutt and one golden retriever). BITE/LUNGE/ATTACK INCIDENTS: On 23 May 2023, in Crofton, MD, There was excitement as our 3 kids were trying to get leashes on the 3 dogs, [Piper] went after the senior golden. The incident didn't break the skin and animal control was not involved. On 19 March 2023, "She broke the skin on the head of our 10yo mutt over her food bowl one time and he had to get his head glued back together." Piper's guardian states the following regarding children: Piper lives with children, ages 11, 9, and 7, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating " Initially, Piper was aggressive with all people over resources but she has come a long way and will generally just walk away from a situation where a kid is getting near something of hers and put herself in her crate. She loves playing with our children and they do walk her and feed her but given the totality of her past and her natural instincts to guard her stuff I would not recommend that she go to a home with young children (under 10-12)." Piper's guardian states the following regarding dogs: Piper lives with dogs, but her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating " At this point her rare moments of aggression and unpredictability are all directed at our 2 other dogs. I believe she needs to be in a home where she is the only dog." Piper's guardian states the following regarding cats: Piper doesn't live with cats nor has otherwise been around cats, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats. Piper's guardian describes her as: Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Protective Always at your side Indoor dog House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Digger Piper's guardian describes her ideal future home: " Piper is a beautiful, sweet, cuddly dog who is perfect 99% of the time. She would be the ideal pet in a home with no other pets and no young children." Rehoming Fee: None Location: Crofton, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS 1.
