Name:  Mindy      Best Guess for Breed:  Golden retriever mix  Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of June 2026        SEX:   Female   Approximate Weight:  57 lbs   Gets Along With: Mindy does well with other dogs and must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations: Right now Mindy is shy; she must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes!   About Mindy:   Meet Mindy, a beautiful 3-year-old Golden Retriever with a heart as sweet as they come.   Mindy is a gentle soul who is still learning that the world can be a safe and happy place. She can be shy and timid in new situations, but she absolutely blossoms with calm, patient human companionship. One of her favorite things is receiving gentle pets on her head—she'll often lean right into you, soaking up the affection and reassurance. Mindy is wonderfully well-mannered in the home. She walks nicely on leash without pulling and has not had any accidents in the house. While she's not a fan of being crated, she's perfectly content sleeping quietly on a rug through the night. She's also proven to be a respectful houseguest, with no chewing or destructive behavior. This sweet girl gets along well with her foster family's resident dog and has shown no reaction to neighborhood cats, rabbits, or deer. While she isn't particularly playful right now, she enjoys the comfort of canine companionship and would likely benefit from a calm, confident dog friend who can help show her the ropes. Mindy is looking for a patient adopter who will give her the time and understanding she needs to build confidence at her own pace. In return, you'll gain a loyal companion whose quiet affection and gentle spirit make every small breakthrough feel incredibly rewarding. Story
Meet McCoy – the sweetest little sidekick you didn’t know you were missing. At just 4.5 months old and 24 pounds, McCoy is a delightful mix of silly, snuggly, and smart. He may be a tiny bit shy at first, but give him a little patience and you’ll quickly discover his playful personality and affectionate heart. McCoy comes from a pretty interesting family tree! His mom is a Heeler/Beagle mix and his dad is a cream-colored Goldendoodle, which resulted in one very unique and adorable pup. He has the coloring of his siblings but favors his Beagle-mix mama in looks — with short little legs, a loooong Basset-style body, and a thick, medium-length coat that’s perfect for cuddling. Though he was born outside and spent his early weeks living outdoors with his parents and littermates, McCoy is now thriving inside a loving foster home. He’s learning all about family life — from the excitement of greeting you at the door (he gives the best welcome-home kisses!) to living with young boys ages 6 and 10. Every day he grows braver and more confident. At first, the big dogs in his foster home made him a little nervous — but now? He’s happily part of the crew. He absolutely loves to run and play outside, and fetch with tennis balls is quickly becoming one of his favorite games. And yes… he is SMART. You can just see those wheels turning. One of the most special things about McCoy is how deeply he bonds with his people. When his foster mom recently had a terrible migraine, McCoy instinctively curled up beside her and stayed close, offering quiet comfort. He’s not just cute — he truly cares. His activity level is beautifully balanced. He enjoys playtime and adventures, but he’s just as happy snuggled up right next to you. With a loving, supportive family, McCoy is going to absolutely bloom into the best kind of companion — loyal, joyful, and full of heart. He is expected to grow to around 45–50 pounds when fully grown. If you’re looking for a special boy who is adorable inside and out, McCoy may be your perfect match. To learn more about McCoy, please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com. We transport from our rescue base in Nashville up the northeastern corridor of states to approved adopters. McCoy is ready to find his forever family — maybe it’s you. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 17, 2026, 3:33 pm

Story
Meet BAILEY! Bailey is an adorable 7 month old, 37 pound reddish-brown retriever/hound mix! He is sweet, lovable and a champion tall-wagger. He is happy to meet people (of all ages) and dogs (of all sizes). He has that puppy playfulness but also is adjusting well to home living. Bailey, even though still young, can also chill comfortably when you are busy with your work. He loves playing with his toys and will cuddle with you during quiet times. Bailey is smart, but, as with any young dog, he will need to continue with some basic training to thrive. Poor Bailey was surrendered to a rural North Carolina shelter when his owner could no longer afford to vet and take care of him! The overcapacity shelter made an urgent plea to save this sweet boy; we were able to get him into a temporary NC foster until transport was arranged. Bailey is very happy to now be in the DC area to find a forever family that will give him the attention that he deserves and never abandon him! Bailey would love to curl up with you to hang out on a summer evening; he loves to cuddle and get pets! He would be an excellent new member of the family and is eager to find a family to love! Please note that the first step is to fill out a questionnaire (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in the process is a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, and regularly examined by your vet. Bailey is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines. **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our adoption questionnaire** The adoption fee for this dog is $425, which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. Story
Canela's story began on the streets of Texas, where she survived alone for weeks near a small neighborhood bakery, searching for kindness and a safe place to rest. A compassionate local woman noticed her wandering, often crossing busy roads in search of food, and knew she could not leave her to face danger alone after nearly being hit by a car. Canela, named after the Spanish word for cinnamon, was taken in and cared for while waiting months for a rescue to step forward. Now safely fostered in Delaware, she is ready to begin the next chapter of her life and find a forever family of her own. Just over a year old and around forty pounds, Canela is a gentle, playful girl with a soft and sensitive nature. She may be timid when first meeting new people, but once she settles in and learns she is safe, her sweet and affectionate personality shines through. Canela is housebroken, crate trained, rides well in the car, and has shown herself to be wonderful with kids and other dogs, making her an easy addition to many types of homes. Thought to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, possibly with some Mountain Cur, she carries a unique little ridge along her back that adds to her charm. She would love an active individual or family who will give her time to build confidence, continue her routine, and show her what a secure and loving home truly feels like. See #Canela0142 on Facebook for most posts.

His signature move is the classic full-body lean, where he melts into you like warm butter on toast. He gives big, honest hugs and expects nothing more in return than a few scratches and maybe a compliment. When Snowy’s happy (which is often), he proudly parades around with a toy in his mouth, his whole backside wiggling like it has its own opinion. It’s nearly impossible not to grin when he does it. Ideal Match: Someone who enjoys a silly, snuggly dog with good manners and a big heart. He’ll do best in a suburban setting where dogs aren’t constantly popping up to say hello. If you want a cheerful, affectionate, goofy companion who gives world-class hugs and makes every day better, Snowy would love to meet you. Ready to meet your new best friend? Snowy is waiting!
