Story
Hi! I'm Gypsy! I'm a beautiful golden retriever mix, about 3 years old (born 10/2021). I'm at that perfect age – not a crazy puppy, but not a slowpoke senior either! I've had a bit of a bumpy start in life, moving between homes a few times. But I'm ready for my *forever* home, and I'm hoping you're the one! My sweet golden eyes are hoping to convince you that I'm the missing piece in your family. Because of my past, I do have some anxiety, especially when kenneled for long periods. But don't worry! I take a daily anxiety medication that helps me feel much better. It's super easy – just hide it in a pill pocket with my morning meal, and I gobble it right down! It's *very* important that I get this medication *every* single morning. It's not something I can take occasionally, and I shouldn't stop taking it suddenly. My foster mom strongly recommends I stay on it for life to help me feel safe and secure after my rough start. I'm a fun-loving girl! I adore playing with toys, kids, and most other dogs. I can be a little bossy with *some* female dogs, but I get along fine with most. Cats? I'm curious at first sniff, but then I usually just ignore them. I've been around cats in other foster homes and done well. I'm a fantastic car rider – I love watching the world go by! I'm also crate trained (I might whine a little when you leave, but I settle down quickly) and house trained. I'm the perfect blend of cuddly and playful. I'll happily snuggle up with you on the couch for movie night, but I'm also ready for some zoomies in the yard or a good run! Won't you please give me my happy ending? I promise to be your loyal and loving companion forever and always. I'm just a brown-eyed girl, waiting for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 25, 2025, 11:38 pm

Story
Miss Ruffles is ready to ruffle her way into your heart and home! This adorable 8-month-old black doodle mix is a bundle of fluffy energy just waiting for her forever family. With her wavy, speckled coat and bright, curious eyes, Miss Ruffles is as charming as she is playful. She's at that wonderful puppy stage where everything is an adventure! Miss Ruffles loves exploring, whether it's chasing after a squeaky toy, romping in the backyard, or investigating new smells on a walk. While she is reliably crate trained and comfortable there when you're sleeping or away from home, Miss Ruffles secretly dreams of becoming a professional cuddler and would happily snuggle up next to her favorite humans for some quality overnight slumber if given the chance. Being a doodle mix, Miss Ruffles is intelligent and eager to please, which will make training a rewarding experience. She's already started learning some basic commands and is VERY food-motivated, always ready for a tasty treat! Early socialization has been a positive experience for her, and she enjoys meeting new dogs and people of all ages. She is still a puppy and working on her house-training. Her main weakness is that she gets so excited when she meets a new person, sometimes she tinkles a little bit.  She's still a bit nervous about getting into the car, but enjoys car rides once she's in there... especially if she can snuggle with a person while cruising down the road. Miss Ruffles is looking for a home where she'll get plenty of love, attention, and opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation. A family that enjoys an active lifestyle and has the time and patience to continue her training would be ideal. In return, Miss Ruffles promises to fill your life with endless joy, laughter, and the kind of unconditional love that only a dog can give – maybe even sharing your pillow! Could you be the lucky family to welcome this sweet girl into your life?     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi, I am Davidson!  I hail from Arkansas, but am happy to be here in Minnesota. Actually, I'm just happy in general!   Here is a quick overview, but please read more about me below, too.     I know how to sit, shake, and lie down. I am pretty good at “wait”, too.    As a new resident of Minnesota, I am practicing my hockey skills and sometimes do full-body checks on dogs and people out of excitement. I may knock over people or smaller kids who aren't sure-footed because I haven't figured out that this is the effect. I happily swing my butt and head around and have not yet figured out that when those parts of me run into a part of you that it doesn't feel great.  I do seem to be aware that my human foster siblings (8 and 10) are smaller and take this into consideration when I'm with them.    I am a lover of toys! I prance around happily when I have one and am always willing to share with other dogs.  I make a funny little growly sound when I'm really excited about the toy I'm trying to show you and get you to play with. It's not an aggressive thing by any means, just my way to communicate how jacked I am about it!   I am good in my kennel after some initial whining. I stay there when my foster parents leave the house. I prefer to sleep in bed with my people and my furry foster siblings, but will sleep in the kennel if I must.    I am super dog-friendly. I have not shown any reactive behaviors. I want to play with friends I meet right away, but am also mindful of their cues and when they aren't quite ready to play with me. I have not shown any signs of resource guarding, either. In fact, one of my furry foster siblings is a little rude and tries to take toys from my mouth, and I just let her do it.    I like lounging on the floor near my foster family's feet, but also enjoy a good dog bed and some time on the couch with my head in my people's lap.    I am a bit vocal, but it is when I'm trying to tell you something…like needing to go out to potty or REALLY wanting to play. For this reason, I may not be the best candidate for a home with shared walls, unless your neighbors understand that dogs sometimes bark to communicate. It isn't incessant, just loud.    I have an impressive vertical and jump in the air, excitedly, when it's time to eat, go outside, and play.   I would love to meet you, get some pets, and play tug of war! After that, maybe some butt scratches and snuggles?      Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi! I’m Dunne, aka Dune-buggy. I haven’t had a great start in life. We don’t know much about it, but I was born in Afghanistan and spent my first couple of years there. Because of that, I didn’t really learn how or what it means to be a dog. The nice people that I’m staying with right now have a dog, and he’s teaching me some of that stuff. I didn’t really understand at first, but I’m learning how to communicate and listen instead of reacting. I don’t always understand how to communicate with new dogs, so slow introductions work best. I’m learning about toys, it’s fun to shred them apart. I’m also learning how to walk nicely on a leash. I get so excited at first that I just can’t control myself, but once I get my wiggles out, I listen and stick close to the guy walking me. I do get scared of other dogs on leashes or in fenced yards, so I try to show I’m a tough guy and get a little loud, but we are working on it. I like humans, I always want to please them. I get scared, though, if there are sudden movements or someone reaches out, so I lie down and become super submissive. Because sudden movements and loud noises scare me, a house with older or no children would be best. I’m learning something about boundaries. I just really like to be close to my people, sometimes too close (according to them). The people I’m staying with are teaching me a lot. They say I’m basically a puppy, with puppy energy at times,  especially when I first get out of the kennel. But I just need to get my wiggles out, and then I settle down pretty quickly. They are also helping me with my impulse control, waiting at doors, and not diving for my food bowl. I am house-trained and crate-trained. The kennel is my safe place and I will go in there to take a nap, and I sleep in there at night, but I don’t like to be left alone and locked up in there, and tend to be pretty vocal about it. We are working on it. I’m starting to trust humans that they are going to come back and provide me with what I need. I really do love humans, especially once I have decided you are my human. I am a snuggle bug and really a big sweetheart. I’m just trying to figure things out and learn how to be a good dog in this world. I love to run and be outside, but I also love to just curl up and chill wherever my humans are.   We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Welcome Flo to CCPAL Rescue. We think Flo is a Golden Retriever/Shepherd. She has some golden coloration and the one ear up and one ear down. She is very sweet and gentle and one of the kennel volunteers favorite puppy. She says inside her puppy yard and plays well with other puppies. She is good on a leash and likes baths and tolerates toe clipping well. She gets held a lot at the rescue and she is very affectionate. She is good on a leash and doesn’t jump up much. She should be 45 pounds full grown. This is more of a medium sized dog. She is attentive and wants to please. She would be good with a family with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is smart and will be a fun one to train. She is one of the less energetic puppies and in our opinion she is very well mannered. She is vaccinated, spayed, healthy and ready for her forever home. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Underdog Headquarters (3345 Dakota Ave, St. Louis Park, 55416) on Sunday, April 27th from 10:30-11:30 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Hi I'm  Candycorn !  I'm a beautiful lady who came into rescue with some secret cargo in my tummy.  I was a good mama and raised my babies and sent them all on to new homes.  Now it's my turn!  With new people and in new places I'll admit I get nervous and I either find a safe corner to hide in or I'll possibly bark.  At home with my foster mama where I'm familiar with things I'm a completely different dog.  I have the bestest happy smile, my tail doesn't stop wagging and I get the cutest dance and zoomies.  I gently jump against my fosters mamas leg so she can give me hugs and kisses.  Sometimes I kiss back!  When she stops I gently put my paw on her arm so she knows I want more.  I also love when she gives me chin and cheek scratches and I should probably mention tummy rubs are great too.     I get along great with all dogs and like to chase and wrestle when they're my friends.  I would love having a doggie sibling in my new home but if my humans are home most of the time I would be ok without a sibling.    At home I am learning to walk on leash.  It's going great since I trust my foster mom.  It's fun jumping around in the grass and feeling the sun shine down on my face and the wind in my fur.  I do not always potty on the leash, but I am learning.  I do know that I should do all my business in a fenced area so I do request one in my home.   I am kennel trained and I never potty in it.  I'm too smart for that!  I'm usually quiet in it too.  I know it's a safe spot when I need it too, though I prefer to be out hanging around my mom's feet instead.  When she's working I'm usually laying under her desk close to her in case she needs me.  You get treats there and pets haha!   I really like toys!  The soft ones are my favorite to chew on. I never had toys before rescue. I don't always like to share them, but I've learned mom will trade me for them and she'll gently play tug of war with me.     I enjoy playing with older respectful kids who are kind and gentle with me.  Fast movement and loud noises are overwhelming and I don't want to get scared and have to run and hide.  A quiet home where I can be a spoiled princess would be awesome.     Come and meet me and I promise you'll find that with a little time to learn that I'm safe and can trust you with my heart that you'll find a loving and loyal family member in me that will love you unconditionally! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
