My name is Lewis but I am often called Lou If you are looking for a friend to watch whatever shows you want on tv I am your guy! If you are looking for someone that loves to chill on the couch with then I am your guy! If you are looking for someone to take walks with or even go for a jog with them I am also your guy as I love to go on walks! I love my humans and get attached to them, so it would be best if I was your one and only fur baby! I do like kids but have never been around real little kids so you may have to watch that I don’t knock them over as I would feel bad. I would love to be with someone who isn’t gone all the time as I will miss them so much. I roam free when my humans are gone and do fine with that, although I do have a habit of counter surfing so its best if you do not leave any food on the counter for me to snack on. I am told that I am the sweetest boy and would love to find my forever home so you can see that too. Lou Adoption Fee: $495

Story
Meet Mitzi! If you're looking for a sweet, gentle companion with Southern charm, Miss Mitzi may be your perfect match. This beautiful, 45 lb., golden-coated lady made her way north from Arkansas and has been winning hearts everywhere she goes. Mitzi is a well-mannered girl who loves attention more than just about anything. Her favorite activity is making the rounds to collect pets from everyone in the room before happily settling down to relax. She greets new people a little cautiously at first, but warms up quickly and has done wonderfully with people of all ages. This smart girl already knows "sit" and is fully potty-trained. She's very treat-motivated and eager to learn, making continued training a fun opportunity for her future family.  Mitzi is a medium-energy dog who enjoys daily adventures but also knows how to relax. She's great in the car, enjoys an evening boat ride, and walks nicely on a leash unless something especially interesting catches her attention. With her excellent nose and natural hunting instincts, she'd love to chase rabbits and other critters if given the chance, so a secure leash or fenced area is important. Because of her prey drive, cats are an unknown. At home, Mitzi is a wonderful houseguest. She doesn't chew on things she shouldn't, and has been trustworthy when left out of her crate. While she may not be thrilled about going into the crate, she's an absolute angel once inside. In fact, she's so quiet that her foster family has yet to hear her bark! Mitzi gets along well with other dogs and would happily welcome a canine playmate. Like many clever pups, she may test her skills as a counter surfer if tasty snacks are left unattended, and she does have a talent for begging with those irresistible eyes. More than anything, Mitzi is looking for a family who will shower her with love, belly rubs, and plenty of attention. If you're ready to welcome a loyal, affectionate, and beautiful companion into your life, Miss Mitzi is waiting to meet you. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Dunne! This sweet boy originally came to us from Afghanistan and is looking for a patient family who will help him continue to build confidence. Dunne can be a little shy when meeting new people, but once he trusts you, his loving personality shines through. He does well with other dogs and may benefit from having a confident canine companion to show him the ropes.   Dunne is a playful, energetic boy who loves to run and have fun. Because he is still learning how to navigate the world, a home without young children may be the best fit since he doesn’t always realize his size. New dogs while out on walks can make him nervous, and he may try to put on a big-dog act to feel safe — something his foster family is helping him work through.   Dunne takes daily anxiety medication to help him feel his best, and he takes it like a champ! He may not be the dog who joins you for busy outings or crowded dog parks, but he would love nothing more than to curl up on the couch, wait for you to come home, and be your loyal companion every day.         Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Honeysuckle found herself unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas.  She is good with other dogs, and people. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. Hi, my name is Honeysuckle but my foster just calls me Honey, because I am so sweet. I am a sensitive gal and very cautious with new people and situations.  I am not a typical 'golden', so please don't think that is what you will be getting with me. I am cautious of new people and take some time to get comfortable with them, yes I am a believer in stranger danger.  Once I settle into  the home you will then get to see the typical Golden side, but only with those I know.  I love other dogs; I actually think most dogs are my friends, so you may need to help me around those that aren't interested in being friends. I however do not like dogs who wear muzzles or bark at me.I am a very playful and active girl, but I also enjoy lounging around, especially outside.  I do require a home with another playful, confident dog to help with all the new things and who will share their toys, bones, etc with me. I love wrestling with other dogs. I also enjoy chasing them, especially when they chase a ball or have a toy so I can get it from them so they chase me.  I am not from MN but I enjoyed frolicking & rutting around in the snow. The ice I didn't enjoy, my legs went everywhere but underneath me. I didn't mind the cold, even though I am a Texas girl. Rain, that doesn't bother me. Thunder, well that is some scarey stuff. I am not a fan of fireworks either.   I love the outdoors, especially since it has warmed up. I will need a fenced yard as I enjoy running, I am very fast and I have a good amount of energy; I also enjoy sunbathing outdoors, taking in the fresh air & I am proudly a part of the neighborhood watch committee. I am NOT a candidate for ecollars/invisible fence/long line/etc so I do require a physical fence. Dog parks are not appropriate while I adjust.  I like children and take treats very gently when I am outside of the home.  I can however get super excited & over stimulated when kids come into the home, but I do settle down eventually. My foster borrows the neighbor kids to help me work on this, but I still need some more work to help me not play like an oversized puppy with them.  I don't understand why I can't wrestle with them, I watch them do it in their yard playing. I have been around an infant and they are great, I enjoy cleaning their face and hands. I can carry on a conversation with them when they squeel and giggle, I'm not sure what they are saying, but my foster says it's fun to watch, but still keep a close eye on me as I am still young like them and I don't want to make a mistake. When they crawl I am a bit unsure of the movement. I can be mouthy, especially when I am excited, but sometimes when I want your attention I will use that to gain it. I do give occasional love bites, I just get so excited. I don't mean to hurt anyone, I just have some herding instincts in me that sometimes I am so excited i just can't hold them back. Did I mention that I love belly rubs?  I can be unsure when new people come into the home and and will bark or may even grumble a little at them.  If they give me some treats, take a seat, give me a few minutes to observe them and the other dog(s) are ok with them, I will become friends with them too eventually. I will probably still grumble or bark while they visit yet while learning about them. I do want to protect my home and humans.  I have been working so hard and the people that I now know that visit often but don't live here, I am great at welcoming them properly. They have had a few family gatherings and I made it through just fine with plenty of space given to observe and let me choose my interactions.  I happily watch from afar if I am not comfortable.  I am a professional chewer. Beware of stuffies as I swallow small chunks that I chew off & the squeakers are the best part;  so my foster only allows with supervision. I enjoy pigs ears, collagen chews, yak chews, cheek rolls, knee caps, retriever rolls and dogwood type chews to keep me occupied. I will also help you mulch any sticks in your yard.  I sleep on a dog bed in my foster's room all night long and supervise from a dog bed or lay at her feet when she works from home. I enjoy a good snuggle when humans are on the couch, and I like to sneak on the bed for a snuggle when it's allowed or will hop up when they get up hoping for a snuggle. I know I would LOVE to sleep in a bed with my humans. I am fully potty trained.  I go hang out by the door and hope you will see me to let me outside but if I really need to go I will tap on the window. I also know how to use a doggy door if you have one, they sure are handy as I like to go in and out fequently, especially when the weather is nice.    I am usually fairly quiet when in my kennel.  I can get vocally excited when playing with other dogs, my foster says I purr when I play. I do bark when outside at new things and some of the neighbors or their dogs, but once I know things are safe and secure, I am good to go and mind my own business. I heard them say that I usually redirect well.  I am crate trained, I go right in when told, but don't forget to pay me for doing a good job. This is also my safe space.  I am ok chewing my high value treats in there or eating my dinner if necessary due to other animals in the home. But don't worry,  I don't resource guard anything when outside of the kennel either. My foster gives these things in the kennel just to make sure I can handle any senario I may encounter and don't become too spoiled only being given outside of the crate.   I have learned that car rides are fun and I hop right up into the back seat floor of the van onto the dog bed and stay there quietly for the trip.  I have also learned that leashes aren't a bad thing; I am told I walk well on leash. They both usually mean something fun is going to happen or at minimum I will get some treats. I am still working on walks (especially in unfamilar areas), the world is a scarey place afterall.  I am cautious in new situations, but if you're confident, I will be too. Just give me some time to process what is going on. I may jump at a new sound but will also check it out if I am able.  I have been through a basic obedience class and some agility classes, I am getting very brave at trying new things. I have a good start for my new home to set us both up for success.  I have been enjoying agility classes more and more each time I go. Please keep up on my training outside the home with classes as I have learned so many new things with the classes to help me overcome my fears and timidness. Working on this only at home just isn't enough for me. I need the socialization & skills. My foster or the rescue can suggest some places to bring me to for keeping up with what I have made progress on. It will also help me bond with you and keep me up on proper socializing. I can't promise that I won't make you start over with some of my skills, but I do have them with my current foster and some things are scarey for me to try in new places or with lots of distractions yet, but I will get there.  I am not picky about my treats or food.  I do like coconut oil, peanut butter, green beans, hot dogs, cheese, bannanas, carrots, ice cubes, cucumbers, blueberries, pineapple, peppers of all colors and pumpkin so far. I do not like red delicious apples; what a silly name for something that does not match what it's called.  I enjoy being brushed. I don't mind my feet or backside being cleaned up or even my nails being trimmed but I am not a huge fan of bathtime, but I tolerate it now.  You will need patience as I adjust. I may just hang out to observe everything for a while, but let me out where I can see/hear everything safely. I do want to be part of the happenings, but I do need a space to feel secure when things are just too much. I tend to shutdown when I am scared, unsure or voices are raised.  My foster tells me I am a silly girl and near perfect. Do I sound like a perfect fit for you? If so, please apply for consideration on the rescue's website https://mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org/      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 28, 2026, 5:47 pm
