Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Kalahari, an adventurous eight-week-old male Goldendoodle with a heart full of curiosity! This little explorer sports a charming tiny white spot on his chest and unique markings on his paws—one right back toe and a spot by the pad of his left back foot. Kalahari is always ready for a new adventure, whether it’s discovering the great outdoors or playfully engaging with a hair dryer while it blows. His spirited personality and playful nature make him the perfect companion for those who love exploration and fun. Get ready to join Kalahari on his exciting journeys! I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
Hi! I'm Gypsy! I'm a beautiful golden retriever mix, about 3 years old (born 10/2021). I'm at that perfect age – not a crazy puppy, but not a slowpoke senior either! I've had a bit of a bumpy start in life, moving between homes a few times. But I'm ready for my *forever* home, and I'm hoping you're the one! My sweet golden eyes are hoping to convince you that I'm the missing piece in your family. Because of my past, I do have some anxiety, especially when kenneled for long periods. But don't worry! I take a daily anxiety medication that helps me feel much better. It's super easy – just hide it in a pill pocket with my morning meal, and I gobble it right down! It's *very* important that I get this medication *every* single morning. It's not something I can take occasionally, and I shouldn't stop taking it suddenly. My foster mom strongly recommends I stay on it for life to help me feel safe and secure after my rough start. I'm a fun-loving girl! I adore playing with toys, kids, and most other dogs. I can be a little bossy with *some* female dogs, but I get along fine with most. Cats? I'm curious at first sniff, but then I usually just ignore them. I've been around cats in other foster homes and done well. I'm a fantastic car rider – I love watching the world go by! I'm also crate trained (I might whine a little when you leave, but I settle down quickly) and house trained. I'm the perfect blend of cuddly and playful. I'll happily snuggle up with you on the couch for movie night, but I'm also ready for some zoomies in the yard or a good run! Won't you please give me my happy ending? I promise to be your loyal and loving companion forever and always. I'm just a brown-eyed girl, waiting for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 25, 2025, 11:38 pm

Story
Hi, I am Davidson!  I hail from Arkansas, but am happy to be here in Minnesota. Actually, I'm just happy in general!   Here is a quick overview, but please read more about me below, too.     I know how to sit, shake, and lie down. I am pretty good at “wait”, too.    As a new resident of Minnesota, I am practicing my hockey skills and sometimes do full-body checks on dogs and people out of excitement. I may knock over people or smaller kids who aren't sure-footed because I haven't figured out that this is the effect. I happily swing my butt and head around and have not yet figured out that when those parts of me run into a part of you that it doesn't feel great.  I do seem to be aware that my human foster siblings (8 and 10) are smaller and take this into consideration when I'm with them.    I am a lover of toys! I prance around happily when I have one and am always willing to share with other dogs.  I make a funny little growly sound when I'm really excited about the toy I'm trying to show you and get you to play with. It's not an aggressive thing by any means, just my way to communicate how jacked I am about it!   I am good in my kennel after some initial whining. I stay there when my foster parents leave the house. I prefer to sleep in bed with my people and my furry foster siblings, but will sleep in the kennel if I must.    I am super dog-friendly. I have not shown any reactive behaviors. I want to play with friends I meet right away, but am also mindful of their cues and when they aren't quite ready to play with me. I have not shown any signs of resource guarding, either. In fact, one of my furry foster siblings is a little rude and tries to take toys from my mouth, and I just let her do it.    I like lounging on the floor near my foster family's feet, but also enjoy a good dog bed and some time on the couch with my head in my people's lap.    I am a bit vocal, but it is when I'm trying to tell you something…like needing to go out to potty or REALLY wanting to play. For this reason, I may not be the best candidate for a home with shared walls, unless your neighbors understand that dogs sometimes bark to communicate. It isn't incessant, just loud.    I have an impressive vertical and jump in the air, excitedly, when it's time to eat, go outside, and play.   I would love to meet you, get some pets, and play tug of war! After that, maybe some butt scratches and snuggles?      Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi! I’m Dunne, aka Dune-buggy. I haven’t had a great start in life. We don’t know much about it, but I was born in Afghanistan and spent my first couple of years there. Because of that, I didn’t really learn how or what it means to be a dog. The nice people that I’m staying with right now have a dog, and he’s teaching me some of that stuff. I didn’t really understand at first, but I’m learning how to communicate and listen instead of reacting. I don’t always understand how to communicate with new dogs, so slow introductions work best. I’m learning about toys, it’s fun to shred them apart. I’m also learning how to walk nicely on a leash. I get so excited at first that I just can’t control myself, but once I get my wiggles out, I listen and stick close to the guy walking me. I do get scared of other dogs on leashes or in fenced yards, so I try to show I’m a tough guy and get a little loud, but we are working on it. I like humans, I always want to please them. I get scared, though, if there are sudden movements or someone reaches out, so I lie down and become super submissive. Because sudden movements and loud noises scare me, a house with older or no children would be best. I’m learning something about boundaries. I just really like to be close to my people, sometimes too close (according to them). The people I’m staying with are teaching me a lot. They say I’m basically a puppy, with puppy energy at times,  especially when I first get out of the kennel. But I just need to get my wiggles out, and then I settle down pretty quickly. They are also helping me with my impulse control, waiting at doors, and not diving for my food bowl. I am house-trained and crate-trained. The kennel is my safe place and I will go in there to take a nap, and I sleep in there at night, but I don’t like to be left alone and locked up in there, and tend to be pretty vocal about it. We are working on it. I’m starting to trust humans that they are going to come back and provide me with what I need. I really do love humans, especially once I have decided you are my human. I am a snuggle bug and really a big sweetheart. I’m just trying to figure things out and learn how to be a good dog in this world. I love to run and be outside, but I also love to just curl up and chill wherever my humans are.   We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxThis is lady bug, she is a 1 year old golden retriever pointer mix. She loves cats and other dogs. She is a big love bug and if you stop giving her attention she’ll give a paw reminder to keep goin! She loves long walks, but takes a while to find the “right spot” to go to the bathroom. Once she finds an area that she likes it’s best to take her to that same spot every day!  She would do best with someone who has a fenced in yard just because it can take a while for her to find that spot and be comfortable. She was rescued from living out in the world on her own so it just takes her some time to feel safe. She is an absolutely wonderful girl, and would make a great addition to anyone’s home!   If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Old Yeller, is that a new trend? Old stuff made NEW?? Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
