Story
Hi! I'm Gypsy! I'm a beautiful golden retriever mix, about 3 years old (born 10/2021). I'm at that perfect age – not a crazy puppy, but not a slowpoke senior either! I've had a bit of a bumpy start in life, moving between homes a few times. But I'm ready for my *forever* home, and I'm hoping you're the one! My sweet golden eyes are hoping to convince you that I'm the missing piece in your family. Because of my past, I do have some anxiety, especially when kenneled for long periods. But don't worry! I take a daily anxiety medication that helps me feel much better. It's super easy – just hide it in a pill pocket with my morning meal, and I gobble it right down! It's *very* important that I get this medication *every* single morning. It's not something I can take occasionally, and I shouldn't stop taking it suddenly. My foster mom strongly recommends I stay on it for life to help me feel safe and secure after my rough start. I'm a fun-loving girl! I adore playing with toys, kids, and most other dogs. I can be a little bossy with *some* female dogs, but I get along fine with most. Cats? I'm curious at first sniff, but then I usually just ignore them. I've been around cats in other foster homes and done well. I'm a fantastic car rider – I love watching the world go by! I'm also crate trained (I might whine a little when you leave, but I settle down quickly) and house trained. I'm the perfect blend of cuddly and playful. I'll happily snuggle up with you on the couch for movie night, but I'm also ready for some zoomies in the yard or a good run! Won't you please give me my happy ending? I promise to be your loyal and loving companion forever and always. I'm just a brown-eyed girl, waiting for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, rabies vaccination, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $395.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 25, 2025, 11:38 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $250 plus taxAri is a sweet old girl that just wants to be near her people. She recently found her way back to MARS after being adopted years ago as a puppy. As a senior she is not without some common ailments such as arthritis and thyroid issues.  She is a bit stiff with arthritis, but does walk nice on a leash.  Ari does have a few pounds to lose, but this should be helped with her thyroid medication and will also give some relief to aches and pains.  Ari gets along well with the resident dog and shows interest in the cat, but is not aggressive, just interested. Ari needs a loving home where she can have a cushy bed, a sunny window and a loyal person to be her companion   Please feel free to fill out an ADOPTION  APPLICATION by clicking on the ADOPT button below. Thank You!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fiona came to us from the Galveston County Shelter in Texas City. From what we understand, she had recently had puppies — someone took them and left her behind. It’s hard to imagine anyone doing that, especially to a dog this sweet. She’s gentle, quiet, and friendly with all people, though she was understandably unsure when she first got into a home. She jumped right into the car like it was the best idea ever, but the house took a little warming up. Each day she’s gotten more comfortable. She’s not totally sure what to do in the yard yet, but walks on a leash are her jam. Patience, structure, and calm energy will go a long way with her. Fiona does well with other dogs and might learn the ropes faster with a buddy, but it’s not a dealbreaker. She’s not barky, not pushy, not food-obsessed. She’s just a bigger dog who sometimes tries to make herself small — a little shy, but never unfriendly. And her smile? It’s huge and pure and makes everything feel okay. Fiona is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/3/2025 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. This pet was treated for heartworm disease and will remain on activity restrictions for several weeks. It is important for heartworm treated dogs to remain on heartworm prevention lifelong. Click here to learn more about heartworm disease. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2025, 2:41 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Marshall, and I am from Arkansas! From his foster: Marshall is a gentle soul with a goofy streak. He thrives on companionship, loves a good belly rub, and is happiest being near his person. He's still learning the ropes, but is eager to please and full of love to give. Marshall is crate trained. While he's still learning to walk on a leash, he's making progress, especially with his daily trazodone to help him stay calm. Marshall is currently heartworm positive and takes daily medication. He will start his treatment soon. He will also need to be neutered. His adopter should be comfortable continuing his care. Despite all this, he is resilient, and so full of love. Marshall would thrive in a calm, patient home with someone who can continue his training and offer the stability and affection he deserves. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family.
