Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Honeysuckle found herself unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas.  She is good with other dogs, and people, is also good with dog savvy cats. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful. Hi, my name is Honeysuckle but my foster just calls me Honey, because I am so sweet. I love other dogs; I actually think all dogs are my friends, so you may need to help me around those that aren't interested in being friends. I have lived with cats and I did well with them, I am just not sure why they didn't want to play with me? I am newer to MN but I enjoy frolicking in the snow. The ice I didn't enjoy, my legs went everywhere but underneath me and I didn't understand what was happening. I don't mind the cold, even though I am a Texas girl, I just pretend it's warm out. Rain, that doesn't bother me. I love the outdoors, especially since it has warmed up some. I will need a fenced yard as I enjoy running, I am very fast and I have a fair amount of energy; I also enjoy sunbathing outdoors. I am not a candidate for ecollars/invisible fence so I do require a physical fence, even better if there are other dogs on the opposite side for me to play with. I love children and take treats very gently so I don't scare them when I am outside of the home. I do however get excited when new kids come into the home, but I do settle down. My foster borrows the neighbor kids to help me work on this, but I still need some more work to help me not play like an oversized puppy with them. I don't understand why I can't wrestle with them, I watch them do it in their yard playing something they call football? I can occassionally be mouthy, but I am still very gentle and it's usually because I want your attention to pet me. Did I mention that I LOVE belly rubs? I am unsure when new people come into the home and and will bark at them.  If they give me some treats, a few minutes to observe them and the other dog(s) are ok with them, I will become friends with them too.  I just want to protect my home and humans.  With some more practice I am sure I will get better with this too.  I am a professional chewer, so beware of stuffies as I may swallow small chunks that I chew off;  so my foster only allows with supervision. I enjoy pigs ears, collagen chews, yak chews, cheek rolls and dogwood type chews to keep me occupied. I will also help you mulch any sticks in your yard.  My supervisory skills are top notch, especially when you are in the bathroom.  I will make sure you are fully protected from any monsters that may lurk in there while you use it and will lay down outside the door if I cannot get in to keep a watchful eye. I sleep on a dog bed in my foster's room all night long and supervise from a dog bed or lay at her feet when she works from home. I enjoy a good snuggle when humans are on the couch, and I like to sneak on the bed for a snuggle when it's allowed. I know I would LOVE to sleep in a bed with my humans. When I am ready to get up for the day, I start with some small groans to gently wake you up should you sleep in longer than I feel you should.  I am fully potty trained.  I go hang out by the door and hope you will see me to let me outside but if I really need to go I will tap on the window. I also know how to use a doggy door if you have one, they sure are handy.  I am quiet when in my kennel and in the home.  I can get vocally excited when playing with other dogs, my foster says I purr when I play. I do bark when outside at new things, but once I know things are safe and secure, I am good to go and mind my own business. I heard them say that I redirect well. I am crate trained, I go right in when told, but don't forget to pay me for doing a good job. I am ok chewing my high value treats in there or eating my dinner if necessary due to other animals in the home. But don't worry,  I don't resource guard anything when outside of the kennel either. My foster gives these things in the kennel just to make sure I can handle any senario I may encounter and don't become too spoiled only being given outside of the crate.   I have learned that car rides are fun and I hop right up into the back seat floor of the van onto the dog bed and stay there quietly for the trip.  I have also learned that leashes aren't a bad thing; I am told I walk well on leash and even know heel position. They both usually mean something fun is going to happen or at minimum I will get some treats. I can be cautious in new situations, but if you're confident, I will be too. Just give me a minute to process what is going on. I may jump at a new sound but will also check it out if I am able.  I have been through a basic obedience class and some agility classes, I am getting very brave at trying new things. I have a good start for my new home to set us both up for success. Please keep up on my training as I have learned so many new things with the classes to help me overcome my fears and timidness. It will also help me bond with you and keep me up on socializing. I know sit, down, stand, off, stay, leave it, bring, up and drop it. I can't promise that I won't make you start over with some of these skills, but I do have them with my current foster and some are scarey for me to try in new places or with lots of distractions yet, but I will get there.  I am not picky about my treats or food.  Please use caution when giving beef though, I may be sensitive to it, we aren't sure yet but the humans are watching me and slowly trying it to see how I tolerate it, but if I get a lot I seem to not feel as well. I do also like coconut oil, peanut butter, green beans, hot dogs, cheese, bannanas, carrots, ice cubes and pumpkin so far. I do not like red delicious apples; what a silly name for something that does not match what it's called. I enjoy being brushed., I don't mind my feet or backside being cleaned up or even my nails being trimmed but I am NOT a fan of bathtime. I can't be that perfect, right? I do require a home with another playful confident dog to help with all the new things, who will share their toys, bones, etc with me. I love playing tug and wrestling with other dogs. I also enjoy chasing them when they chase a ball/toy so I can get it from them so they chase me. You will need patience as I adjust. I may just hang out to observe everything for a while, but keep me out where I can see everything or I will just shut down and hide; this is my default mode when I am unsure, overwhelmed and when I am not feeling well.  My foster tells me I am a silly girl and near perfect. Do I sound like a perfect fit for you? If so, please apply for consideration on the rescue's website https://mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org/      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 25, 2026, 11:33 am

Story
Aleu was brought in as a stray and never claimed. Aleu is a beautiful mix of white shepherd, husky and golden retriever (that is our best guess anyway) and she is a sweet girl, she walks calmly on a leash and absolutely can't be around cats. Aleu was born in December 2018 and keeps a very clean kennel here at the shelter. She needs to lose a little bit of weight and we are working on that now. Aleu would love to find a new home with a new best friend that she can love for the rest of her life. All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Hello my name is Izzy Rose, I'm from Minnesota! From her foster: She's timid at first but really opens up once comfortable. She has a big personality, big voice, and is full of energy. She benefits a lot from regular exercise. She likes other dogs and wants to make friends, but she could polish her canine social skills. She's very food-motivated and loves toys and chew bones. Once she settles down, she adores cuddles from her people and enjoys curling up next to them for a nap. She's great in her crate overnight and also for a couple hours each day.

Story
Location: Brooklyn Center, MN Cardinal is a sweet, soulful boy with a heart that’s especially soft for kids. He came from a tough situation and since coming into foster, he’s been blossoming beautifully in a loving home. When Cardinal first arrived, he was understandably nervous — even needed to be carried inside. But the moment he saw a 4½-year-old child, everything changed. His tail started wagging, he trotted right over, and he happily showered her with kisses. From that moment on, it was clear: kids are his favorite people. He adores children and loves being near them, often content just watching them play. Cardinal does well with other dogs when introduced slowly and thoughtfully, and he’s been completely uninterested in cats. He’s more comfortable with women right now but does warm up to men once he feels safe. He’s potty trained, medium-to-low energy, and currently not a fan of the kennel. Because of his past, he doesn’t quite know how to play yet, but he’s gentle, observant, and eager to be close to his people. With patience, love, and continued positive experiences, Cardinal will only continue to gain confidence. If you’re looking for a loyal, tender-hearted companion who will adore your kids and quietly soak up family life, Cardinal might just be your perfect match. ❤️ --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Story
Hello! I am Didi and I am a fun loving sweet sweet girl! I just came up from Alabama and I’m trying to figure out what this dreadfully cold weather is all about. I’m not a total fan of it but my humans still make me go outside to do my business. I did have one accident the very first night but who can blame me?!My human family thinks that I’ve never been in a home before. I’m very curious and like to check everything out. I’ve only gone up the big stairs halfway but I know I’ll be fine soon enough. My family loves going on walks but they said we are going to wait just a few more days for it to warm up. So I’m not sure how I will be but I bet pretty good!I love playing with the other foster doggy in my new home. We are very playful together! My mom puts me in a kennel when she leaves for work just to make sure I get this potty training business down pat!My mom can tell I’m a really good happy dog! Please give me a chance. I will give you a lifetime of love!--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $400To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/
