Trudy-Golden Retriever/Shepard X female, ~ 1-2 yr. (May 2023) Contact rescuebc@hotmail.com for application. Trudy is living in a rural area and her life is in danger. Her owners work long hours and they let Trudy roam the area. A neighbor has been trying to watching over her during the day, hikes with her and tries to keep her safe. He has talked to the owners about getting her into a new home, where she can have her very own family. They are in agreement to let Trudy have a new life. Trudy is super friendly, gets along with other dogs . She plays with the children in the neighborhood. She has good manners about her food but we are not sure if she is housetrained yet. Trudy's adoption fee is $350 to help cover the medical costs of getting ready for adoption. Right up front… We received a sponsorship donation to help with Andys adoption fee, so it’s been reduced to $400. Andy is a lovable dog who will never leave your side. He likes long walks and loves to sniff anything and everything along the way! Loves to give kisses. Becomes overwhelmed Easily if his boundaries or territories are crossed. House broken, crate trained, needs a fenced in yard. Definitely more suited for a one-dog owner. Cats are ok, and maybe adult kids, he is curious about other dogs ( I can talk you through that) but he can become easily triggered, through car glass, fencing, and protective over his family. He’s very Protective over his home and his people. Needs time to warm up to new people and he likes to feel like he is in charge, being an Alpha which needs to controlled and put in his place, but once he is comfortable, he will be your best friend and trusted companion for life. Very low-maintenance otherwise, although he’s a very hairy guy, brushing is a must. Can be left alone for long periods of time - does not chew or get into anything he's not supposed to. Likes to be right next to you on the couch and the bed. Well-trained - knows place, down, stay, sit, and working on heel. Loves peanut butter as a treat. We transport every other week to a location near you with the most animal friendly transport - Rescue Riders Transport.

Mavis was rescued from a fast-kill, small-town, dog pound. She was underweight and had skin problems from the nasty dirty greasy collar that was around her neck. She is a different dog now. A little pudgy at 70 pounds, but with a beautiful and fluffy coat. She is a golden retriever mix and is estimated to be around 5 years old. Mavis is crate trained, house trained, well-behaved in the house, walks well on a leash, and rides well in a vehicle. Mavis loves children and all people. She will sit at your feet and wait for pets. Mavis gets along with most dogs and loves to play. (We have one female dog that doesn't like Mavis so she likes to agitate that dog whenever she can LOL). Mavis is active and she likes to bark at squirrels. Mavis loves walks and playing with toys and other dogs. We do crate her at night but she does not need to be crated. Mavis is sweet, gentle, and loving. She is a wonderful dog. We do think she was beaten because she is scared of sticks and other things that might be used to hit her. And we do not understand why someone would hit such a good dog. Mavis must be in the house as a loved member of the family. Mavis did run out the gate once and took off exploring. We had to chase her down with a vehicle and caught up to her by the post office. So she cannot be trusted off-leash, and definitely needs a fenced yard to run and play. Mavis is healthy. She is spayed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Mavis has been treated for heartworms and they are now dead. She is on monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Mavis' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Strasburg VA or Hagerstown MD. She is being fostered in Texas and we cannot afford to send her north until after she is adopted.
