Story
Hi everyone, my name is Shelly and I am a beautiful 7 year old GoldenRetriever mix. The kind people at ARI rescued me from a puppy mill. I waspretty scared when I first arrived but now that I know that I am safe, lovedand well taken care of I feel so much better. I enjoy being with all peopleand most of the other dogs. They tell me that I am sweet as can be and Ihave a wonderful personality! I am learning to walk on a leash, but that's awork in progress. This leash thing is new to me and it's just going to takeme some time to feel comfortable. I love hanging out in the play yard withthe volunteers and I enjoy the belly rubs and treats that they give me! SinceI love being outside I will need a fenced in yard where I can explore andhang out with my new family. I am curious with this new life and I takethings slow. I am learning a lot of new thing and am very smart. I haveeven learned how to play with toys! They say I am a bit of an escape artistso you will have to keep an eye on me. I am a very good girl that just wants afamily to call my own. I promise if you are patient with me that I will be agreat companion and give you lots of love! Everyone at the rescue loves meand they tell me that one day someone special will come and take me home. Please tell everyone you know about me and help me find a forever home.

We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet. 7/5 Cardi is looking for a home. We are unsure of her breed, but possibly a golden mix? She is a young adult and is about 40-50lbs. She is excellent with kids and other dogs and doesn't bother cats. This is what her rescuer and foster had to say about her: Cardi was dumped around May 15th in the middle of a Wildlife Management area. She was spotted sleeping on an old dumped mattress and recliners. She was terrified and would not come close to anyone trying to help her. I put a dog house with food and water out for her. On May 27th I was able to get close enough to catch her. Cardi is such a sweet girl who is so thankful to have been saved. She loves other dogs, cats and children. She is a little unsure about men. More so when they are quickly approaching her. She prefers a gentle slow hand reached out to her, kneeling down to her level from men, otherwise she will run to greet children and women. She sleeps in a pet carrier at night and has done well. We have a doggie door so potty training has gone well for us. She loves toys and playing with Matilda.
