Duke is new to program and getting settled in at his foster home.  This guy is a super handsome English Golden Retriever. He is crate trained, housebroken and LOVES dog and human friends. He is a pretty submissive boy, rides beautifully in a car, and would love a home that is active and will show him how much fun life can be. While he is not much for swimming in the pool, he is all in for a good puddle, pond, or splash around! Story
Meet Noodle!   He is a tall, slim, handsome guy who is ready for his forever home. He was out looking for help (or a new home) one day when he came across a couple who helped him find his owners. When the owners were not found, his helpers got him into rescue.  While TSBR generally does not have DNA results for dogs in the program, Noodles’ friends wanted to know what makes up this handsome boy.  72 % Poodle (Medium and Standard) 24 % Golden Retriever 3 % Poodle (Toy and Miniature) 1 % American Cocker Spaniel What a great testament to his fantastic personality! This playful, loving boy is fully vetted and ready to find his new home. Noodle loves all the people he meets. He knows sit, shake, down, and place, and is making good progress on leash training and can heel. He is house-trained and uses a dog door. Noodle sleeps quietly in either his kennel or on a dog bed by his foster’s bed. He does not get up on the furniture or ask to do so, but could probably be convinced if you would like this! Noodle is loved at the vet and great at the groomers. He loves car rides and will lie quietly on a pillow in the back seat.  Noodle does not jump on people or counter surf. He also is not a barker.  He is a trusted member of his foster family and has full range of the house when his fosters are away.     This energetic boy loves to play with other dogs.  He is considerate of older and smaller dogs as well.  He does play energetically with dogs his own age and size… his foster sister taught him that.  Recently, Noodle has shown interest in stuffed toys and a large ball he loves to chase and carry. Falling for Noodle…ask to meet him~ retrieveafriend.org/adoptVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 9:46 pm

Story
Honey-Bun (aka “Bunny”, “Bun-Bun”, and “you’re so cute”) Meet Honey Bun — equal parts snuggle bug, comedian, and tiny, quirky queen. A Golden Retriever/Cattle dog mix is our best guess at breed mix. Her name fits her perfectly—her coat is the color of Honey, and she’s just as sweet. She is on the smaller side, only 48 lbs. If you’re looking for a velcro dog who will be your shadow on the sofa, curl up as close as physically possible, and melt at gentle affection, Honey is your girl. She’s sensitive, deeply loving, and thrives with patience, calm energy, and someone who appreciates a dog with a little extra personality. She is fine with other dogs, and she loves to play. Slow introductions are recommended as she is shy and nervous at first. If you have a house full of cute little kids, Honey is not for you. However, she does fantastic with older kids and loves the attention she gets from them. (Foster-home has teenagers!) She enjoys emptying our very large toy box, throwing the toys around on the soft rug. It’s adorable. Honey's story didn’t start easy. She was left on a country road and waited there for two weeks, hoping her family would come back. They didn’t. When she was rescued, she was completely shut down — too scared to walk, ride in a car, or even move. Over time, she began to trust again… only to be displaced once more when her rescuer couldn’t keep her. That’s when she came to us. And yes — we started back at square one. Frozen in the yard, unsure of everything, overwhelmed by the world. She has come a long way and is so courageous these days, but she may digress slightly upon arrival to a new home. But here’s where Honey shows you who she really is. With time, encouragement, a pack of five very patient resident dogs, and (let’s be honest) a steady supply of treats, she blossomed. The dog who once “pancaked” on walks now sprints to the door when she senses it’s time to go out. Doorways? Conquered. Garage door noises? Irrelevant. The bed she once hid under? Long forgotten. What you get now is Honey 2.0 — a happy, hilarious little character who quite literally smiles all day. She’s food-motivated (carrots and ice included), endlessly entertaining as she digs herself into the couch cushions Her signature move on walks: spotting another dog and transforming into a pogo stick. Have never seen anything like it. She’s also a world-class backyard observer. She loves watching the world go by. Squirrels? Fascinating. Bunnies? Immediate pogo activation. Birds? Not worth her time. Honey is house-trained, doesn’t bark much, knows a couple of basic commands (sit, no, treats) and is very eager to please. Training will come over time — confidence was the real work, and she’s already done the hard part. She does best with patient and gentle guidance; raised voices will shut her down. Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.
