Story
Max earned his nickname because once he trusts you—he absolutely melts into your arms. This handsome Great Dane came from the same neglect case as Mikayla and Ariella, part of a large group of Danes whose owner could no longer care for them due to health struggles. Max is shy but incredibly sweet, and he’s starting to show us glimpses of the loving, loyal companion he’s meant to be. He’ll need a calm, patient home with another friendly dog to help him feel safe and continue building confidence. If you’ve got a soft spot for gentle giants and the time to let Max blossom at his own pace, you just might be his perfect person.

Story
Meet Geeno (a.k.a. Grandpa Gee) - Big in Size, Bigger in Heart.Geeno is an extra-large, extra-special senior Great Dane with a heart as grand as his paws. After being found scavenging through neighborhood trash cans just to survive, this gentle giant landed in animal control-emaciated, exhausted, and in need of some serious TLC. At just 113 pounds when he arrived, Geeno has now worked his way back to a healthy weight of 145 pounds. Geeno is missing one eye, likely due to an old injury, but it`s fully healed and causes him no discomfort. He has some skin tags (typical for a dog his age!), and the ones that needed attention have already been removed. He`s also been neutered and had a full dental, so he`s feeling fresh and fabulous!Currently living with two other dogs in his foster home, Geeno does well with slow introductions, but deep down, he`d love nothing more than to be your one and only. He`s a classic Velcro dog-loyal, loving, and never far from your side. If you`ve got love to give, Geeno wants it all. Though he`s a senior, Geeno still has plenty of pep in his step! A fenced-in yard is a must, as he enjoys stretching those long legs and trotting around like the majestic boy he is. That said, a home with no stairs is ideal, as his back legs are beginning to show signs of age, and we want to keep him comfortable as long as possible. He will need to stay on Gabapentin for life (at the adopter`s expense) to support his mobility.Geeno is house-trained, crate-trained, and a perfect passenger in the car. He`s a total lovebug who will happily settle into your lap (yes, all of him), snuggle up in your bed, and make himself right at home.If you`re ready to open your heart to a gentle soul who`s been through a lot and still has so much love to give, Geeno is waiting for you. Help us give this beautiful boy the retirement home he so deeply deserves. Apply today to meet Geeno-- your loyal companion in a giant, lovable package.Adoption fee is $140Email: kristym@almosthomefoundation.netAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:1) Be at least 21 years of age2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household3) Have approval from the residence owner4) Have valid ID with current address5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts o

Story
Meet Beefcake, a goofy and HUGE 1-year-old male Great Dane who's looking for his best human buddy. Beefcake is a big guy with a big heart. This giant is affectionate at home and adoringly leans on his humans, but he's still learning to navigate his size. Beefcake is deaf, which means he relies on visual cues for communication. He's nervous meeting new people on leash, but is friendly once he gets to know them. Beefcake has some territorial tendencies and is currently working with our professional dog trainers to address these behaviors. He needs someone who’s willing to be consistent with training, work with the tools he requires and be patient as he learns and progresses. He enjoys being around other dogs, but cats are not his thing. Beefcake must go to a home with someone who has experience with very large dogs and is willing to continue his training journey. His ideal home is with a single adult or adult couple — no children, please, due to his size and training needs. If you're ready to give Beefcake the guidance and attention he needs, he'll be a loyal companion in return. This beefy boy needs an experienced owner and a lot of love, structure and patience—could it be you? Ready to meet Beefcake? Come see how this big bundle of joy can fit into your home. LOCAL TN ADOPTION ONLY. The good.....He is kennel trained. Goes in very easily with treats. Will run right in if a treat is thrown in there. Will bark for a few minutes but settles. If he’s in a crate, in a room alone and he hears a lot of commotion, he will bark. If you’ve left and the house is quiet, he’s quiet. He’s great in the kennel if someone is in the same room with him though. He likes being with his people. He happily snoozes in an open kennel during the day if you’re working from home and the kennel is near your work area.Scooby is a goof! There’s not much he takes too seriously. Besides treats. Treats are serious business! He will do just about anything for a treat. Even stuff he really doesn’t want to do. But treats are life. He’s overall an easy dog that is sweet, happy, cuddly and isn’t overly energetic. He loves playing and is a bulldozer but he relaxes and naps a lot too. He doesn’t require mass amounts of exercise. He is more than happy to lounge around in bed and watch tv with his humans. The bad...He snores. It’s not quiet...He hates small dogs, if your neighbor has one he will make it his life"s mission to eradicate it. He is generally good on a leash until aforementioned small dog walks up, then he will happily chill with you while you recover from your rotator cuff repair. LOCAL ADOPTION ONLY IN TN.The Adoption Fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea, Tick and Heartworm Treatment and Prevention, and Sheltering. Story
A few years ago, this sweet girl was found dumped along the fence of our rescue! She was skin and bones and needed immediate help, so we named her MayDay. Our best guess is she around 6 or 7 years old and a Great Dane/ Staffshire terrier mix. She is very gentle, loves people, and really enjoys car rides. Mayday gets along with males, but is not very playful with other dogs. She would do best as the only fur baby in the home. Since she has been a kennel dog her whole life, MayDay is not pot trained so she will need a family who understands that. This dear girl would love a chance to live out her days in the comfort of a home with a family who will love her! If you want to give MayDay that chance, find us at https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ to fill out an application or on facebook (tails of the forgotten paws)

Story
Stevie is such a lover girl! Stevie is estimated to be about 2-3 years old and a Great Dane mix weighing at 85 lbs. Yes, all 85 lbs is filled with love and ready for her forever. She is doing so well in her foster home however like all the dogs in our care, we are so excited for them to find their forever home that can continue providing all the love, patience, and training that they need. Things to note about Stevie: - She does good in her crate! She does however get excited for her people to come home so she’ll bark a bit when someone walks into the house. - She is potty trained! No accidents for this big girl. (We always note that there might be a transition period when going to their new home that involves a new environment, smells, and schedule). - As you can tell in her photo she does have a Microopthalmia. It does not bother her, or stop her from being a regular dog so don’t let it stop you from falling in love with her! - She is fairly nervous on the leash. She seems to have not had a lot of experience with it prior to coming into our care so though it is being worked on a yard with a home is preferred while she is gaining confidence! - She does get a little nervous with other dogs around her toys, again a lack of confidence that we are working through but we want her forever home to be aware of it so she continues to improve or is given her proper space. Stevie’s adoption fee includes her spay, pexy, heartworm test (negative) up to date vaccines and preventatives, and microchip. Stevie is available for adoption in our radius of within 3 hours of Chicago. If you are interested in being considered for her apply directly. If you have any questions before applying please email adopt@chicagorescueauthority.org.
