Story
Hello world! I am Tater, a 8 month old, 75 pound, Great Dane puppy! I am a sweet girl who makes friends easily with the dogs I've met so far! I'm not interested in cats so we can coexist just fine. I'm still a big nervous with new people, including children, but I just got to this new place and I'm still settling in. And Once I get used to my human friends, I love to be around them! Now that I know my foster family is safe, I beg for pets all the time :) My foster family, including my canine foster bro, is helping me with my training needs, and I hope my forever family will continue to be patient with me as I get comfortable and learn new things! I am still getting used to my crate, and I'm doing well going to the bathroom outside. I am looking forward to all the good things ahead, I just need the right person to guide me and help me gain the confidence I need to succeed! I promise it will be very rewarding to see me come out of my shell! Do you think you and I will be a match? If so, let TNT know! My adoption fee is $800 which includes Gastropexy

Story
A few years ago, this sweet girl was found dumped along the fence of our rescue! She was skin and bones and needed immediate help, so we named her MayDay. Our best guess is she around 6 or 7 years old and a Great Dane/ Staffshire terrier mix. She is very gentle, loves people, and really enjoys car rides. Mayday gets along with males, but is not very playful with other dogs. She would do best as the only fur baby in the home. Since she has been a kennel dog her whole life, MayDay is not pot trained so she will need a family who understands that. This dear girl would love a chance to live out her days in the comfort of a home with a family who will love her! If you want to give MayDay that chance, find us at https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ to fill out an application or on facebook (tails of the forgotten paws)

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Milhouse is a 17 month old male Great Dane who weighs in at 135 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $500.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Milhouse's dad recently moved back home to his country in Eastern Europe and left him behind. Milhouse was just a bit to much dog for his human grandmom to handle and she reached out for ARF to assist in finding him a new home.  Milhouse is a large dog even by Great Dane standards.  He is currently 135 pounds, very tall, and could handle gaining another 10 or so pounds.  He does have that loud ferocious bark that all Great Danes have but that is all it is—just a bark.  His life to date has involved being crated for most of the day and all night.  He lived in, was fed, and watered in his crate.  Unless his human “dad” was home and awake, Milhouse was crated.  And since “dad” left to go back to his country, Milhouse has been crated all the time.  He can act reactively to people close to the crate to the extent that his foster mom thinks that if he were to bark—the top of the crate was banged on scaring him or even worse.  He hasn't really needed to be crated at all in his foster home (you can see the gate in the photos—he could jump it but he hasn’t tried to). His foster mom took the crate down after the first day.  He is so much happier without the crate.  The effect on his personality was immediate— he was so much happier, less worried and more relaxed/playful right away.  He enjoys access to run and play in his foster mom’s yard, walks well on a leash, and is well behaved in the house with a fabulously sweet, playful, and goofy  personality.   He doesn’t jump  on the furniture -though his foster mom is sure he could be coerced to do so by his forever family. He can be suspicious of new people but if the new people are handed a couple treats to give out to him, in the matter of 15-30 minutes, he would be their best friend for life.  And the more he has settled into his foster home, he accepts new people faster and faster.  He spent a short time with young children and did not seem to mind them. In spite of a not ideal h ome to start life in, Milhouse is a sweet and loving dog that would love a fenced yard, and a baby-gated area in the kitchen or mudroom rather than a crate until he is able to fully settle in to his new home's schedule and routine. Milhouse does seem housebroken when following the every 3+ hour schedule at his foster home for time to potty in the fenced in back yard. Milhouse is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Leonardo DaVinci is a 17 month old male Great Dane who weighs in at 130 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $500.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Leonardo's dad recently moved back to his Eastern European country and left him behind. Leonardo was a bit too much for his human grandmom to handle and she reached out to ARF to assist in finding him a new home. Leonardo is a large dog even by Great Dane standards. He currently weighs 130 pounds and the vet said he should gain another 10 pounds. Until early December when ARF took him in his life involved being crated for most of the day and all night unless his human dad was home and awake. Leonardo is not crated in his foster mom's home and he is good at night and when his foster mom is at work. He loves running and playing in his foster mom's yard and he's good about staying out of her vegetable gardens. He enjoys car rides and will run to the garage or car in hopes of another ride. He loves to be petted, loves squeaky toys and bones, however, he is protective of "his" bones. Leonardo is very protective of his home and loudly let's passersby know he's watching. He is leery of new people at first but after a few minutes and lots of treats he accepts the new person as his new best friend.  He plays well with his 45 pound foster dog brother and is friendly with other dogs at the vet office.  Given his size he will do best with older children.   Leonardo was recently neutered and had his cherry eye repaired at the same time.     Leonardo knows sit, wait, and back-up (important in a small house!). He is housetrained and will let you know when he needs to go out.  He is working on remembering leash manners because he's very excited and is interested in so many things when he goes out. Leonardo is a goofy, loving, playful sweetheart of a dog! FAST FACTS:*2 Years Old - 120 Pound*Very Loyal, Affectionate, Smart*Low/Medium Energy*Kid Friendly*Dog Friendly - Would Love a Doggie Companion*Potty and Crate Trained*Training Required*Fenced Yard PreferredBIO:Hi there! My name is Olivea and I am an aspiring lap dog in a veeeeeery large body! But my body wasn't always this healthy 120-pound figure you see today; you see, I was unloved and severely malnourished when rescued (I only weighed about 40 pounds, can you even believe it?!) but thanks to my devoted, attentive foster momma I have gained weight and felt love for the first time in my life. Let me tell you how much I enjoy being a beloved family member: I adore people of all ages (including the toddlers I've met) and am very happy to have a doggie pal to keep me company. I would thrive in a family with kids and other dogs - I adore the comfort of family. Even though I am extra large, I make great attempts and trying to fit on your lap for snuggles, I hope you don't mind! And my tail never stops wagging when I have two- and four-legged companions to love! My foster momma jokingly calls my tail its own power source, so I might accidentally knock very tiny children or potted plants over when I am especially happy, but otherwise I have excellent household manners and am never purposefully destructive. I am already potty and crate trained, though my foster momma says she doesn't need to crate me when she leaves the house because I enjoy lounging in my bed or on the couch until she returns (this life of luxury thing is amazing!) My dream home will include a big family and another dog or two, a fenced yard so I can play with my pals and lounge in the sun. I am pretty low energy overall and do not need a lot of exercise, so an occasional walk would be fine but I am not going to be your marathon training buddy haha! I could use some extra work on my leash walking skills; I was likely previously chained up in my prior life so I am extra alert of my surroundings on walks and can be protective of the other dog in my foster home when we are strolling the neighborhood. Fetching Tails requires adopters of young dogs like me to sign us up for training classes, and I am a quick learner (especially when treats are involved - I am very food motivated!) so I think we will have a great time learning new skills together and seeing how great a family pet I can be! Will you give me the luxurious home life and special place in your heart as your beloved companion? Then hurry up and fill out an adoption application today!Love,OliveaIf you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.
