Story
A few years ago, this sweet girl was found dumped along the fence of our rescue! She was skin and bones and needed immediate help, so we named her MayDay. Our best guess is she around 6 or 7 years old and a Great Dane/ Staffshire terrier mix. She is very gentle, loves people, and really enjoys car rides. Mayday gets along with males, but is not very playful with other dogs. She would do best as the only fur baby in the home. Since she has been a kennel dog her whole life, MayDay is not pot trained so she will need a family who understands that. This dear girl would love a chance to live out her days in the comfort of a home with a family who will love her! If you want to give MayDay that chance, find us at https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ to fill out an application or on facebook (tails of the forgotten paws)

Story
Meet Oreo, a 1-year-old male Great Dane/Black Labrador Retriever mix who is looking for his forever home! He is a big, lovable boy, weighing in at 70 pounds. He has a striking black and white coat, just like the cookie he's named after, and he's just as sweet. Oreo has a zest for life and is always happy and looking to have some fun! He is very strong on the leash, so his adopters should be comfortable handling a dog of his size and strength. Dont worry! We can show you how to manage him on leash. He would love a big yard where he can run and play all day long. His favorite thing to do is play tug and fetch! Oreo continues to work hard on his basic manners training. He's still trying to master loose leash walking, as he's still a young dog and a work in progress. But he loves his training time, knows sit and down, and with consistency, he'll quickly learn how to be a well-behaved companion. While Oreo did okay with kids in his previous home, he can be jumpy and mouthy at times, especially when he's super excited. Oreo also doesn't love sharing his highly prized items, so we recommend that any children in the household be over 12 years of age. Overall, Oreo is a smart and affectionate dog who will make a great companion for an experienced adopter who can provide him with the love, patience, and training he needs. If you're looking for an active and fun-loving dog, Oreo might just be the perfect match for you and he's here waiting to meet you! For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Oreo is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Oreo or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

FAST FACTS:*2 Years Old - 120 Pound*Very Loyal, Affectionate, Smart*Low/Medium Energy*Kid Friendly*Dog Friendly - Would Love a Doggie Companion*Potty and Crate Trained*Training Required*Fenced Yard PreferredBIO:Hi there! My name is Olivea and I am an aspiring lap dog in a veeeeeery large body! But my body wasn't always this healthy 120-pound figure you see today; you see, I was unloved and severely malnourished when rescued (I only weighed about 40 pounds, can you even believe it?!) but thanks to my devoted, attentive foster momma I have gained weight and felt love for the first time in my life. Let me tell you how much I enjoy being a beloved family member: I adore people of all ages (including the toddlers I've met) and am very happy to have a doggie pal to keep me company. I would thrive in a family with kids and other dogs - I adore the comfort of family. Even though I am extra large, I make great attempts and trying to fit on your lap for snuggles, I hope you don't mind! And my tail never stops wagging when I have two- and four-legged companions to love! My foster momma jokingly calls my tail its own power source, so I might accidentally knock very tiny children or potted plants over when I am especially happy, but otherwise I have excellent household manners and am never purposefully destructive. I am already potty and crate trained, though my foster momma says she doesn't need to crate me when she leaves the house because I enjoy lounging in my bed or on the couch until she returns (this life of luxury thing is amazing!) My dream home will include a big family and another dog or two, a fenced yard so I can play with my pals and lounge in the sun. I am pretty low energy overall and do not need a lot of exercise, so an occasional walk would be fine but I am not going to be your marathon training buddy haha! I could use some extra work on my leash walking skills; I was likely previously chained up in my prior life so I am extra alert of my surroundings on walks and can be protective of the other dog in my foster home when we are strolling the neighborhood. Fetching Tails requires adopters of young dogs like me to sign us up for training classes, and I am a quick learner (especially when treats are involved - I am very food motivated!) so I think we will have a great time learning new skills together and seeing how great a family pet I can be! Will you give me the luxurious home life and special place in your heart as your beloved companion? Then hurry up and fill out an adoption application today!Love,OliveaIf you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.

Story
**** Northern Illinois/ Chicagoland suburb adoptions only **** Hey there, I'm Fred, the mighty Great Dane! I'm only 7 1/2 months old (born 9/15/23), but I'm already pushing the scales close to 90 pounds. They say I'll probably top out around 200 pounds when I'm all grown up. With my sleek black fur and boundless energy, I'm a real looker, if I do say so myself. Oh, and I'm a boy, in case you were wondering. I've already got the whole house training thing down pat, and I'm not too shabby when it comes to hanging out in my crate, especially if there's some yummy food involved. But hey, who can blame me for being a bit food-motivated, right? Now, I haven't had much experience with kids yet, but I'm a total social butterfly with other dogs. As for cats, well, I did give chase to one when I met them, but my foster mom thinks I'll grow out of it with some proper guidance. Yep, I'm still a bit of a wild puppy, trying to figure out how to use all four of these paws of mine. If you're thinking about bringing me home, just keep in mind that having a fenced yard would be awesome for my safety. And I'll definitely need some training to help me be the best dog I can be. But I promise, with my playful spirit and gentle nature, I'll bring a whole lot of love and laughter to your home. Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Fred is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet him will be set up for approved adopters only. His adoption fee is $500 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. He is neutered, microchipped and Heartworm negative. He has also been kept on both flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Please visit our website and fill out an application if you are interested. http://newstartdogrescue.org

Story
**** Northern Illinois/ Chicagoland suburb adoptions only **** Hello there! I'm Wilma, the enchanting Great Dane with an old, wise name for such a young, playful pup like me. Born on 9/15/23, I'm currently 7 1/2 months old and tipping the scales at 70 lbs. My journey hasn't been conventional; I found myself in search of a new family, not because of anything I did, but because my human mom rescued me from a less-than-ideal situation. Despite not seeking any new pups, she opened her heart to me and my brother, providing us with safety, nourishment, and affection. Her love for us led her to find a forever home where we could flourish, and here I am, eagerly awaiting my happily ever after! I've already mastered the art of crate training and housebreaking – go me! I'm a social butterfly who adores humans of all sizes, showering them with kisses and attention. Playing with other dogs brings me immense joy, and while I can be submissive when needed, I also possess a spirited, confident personality. Give me some toys and bones, and I'll be entertained for hours, whether solo or with my furry friends. Plus, I make an excellent walking buddy! While I haven't had much formal training yet, I'm ready to embark on that journey with my new family. Together, we'll ensure that I grow into the most well-behaved princess in the kingdom! Although my friends don't think I'll become super large, I have a feeling I'll come close to 100 lbs once I've finished growing. So, if you're ready for a loyal companion who will grow alongside you, I might just be the perfect match for your castle! Local adoptions only. We do not adopt out of the state of Illinois. Wilma is being fostered in a private home. Appointments to meet her will be set up for approved adopters only. Her adoption fee is $500 which includes all age appropriate vaccines. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Kim for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Scooby is a 3 year old male who weighs in at 95 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $750.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Meet Scooby!! This giant came to ARF as his aging owner got sick and could no longer care for him. Leaving the only home he had ever known was very stressful for Scooby, but he settled into his foster home very quickly. He plays well with the resident X-Large dog in his foster home,  Scooby LOVES toys and to play or wrestle, and as soon as he is done playing, he wants to cuddle right up next to you on the couch. And he is an expert Dane-style lap-sitter. Scooby would do best with kids over 10 years old as he is very playful and very large and doesn't always understand his size.  A familiarity with Great Danes is a plus, but not a necessity. Scooby needs consistent training to teach him to walk nicely on a leash and a basic obedience class will be required of his adopters.  Scooby has so much love to give and can't wait to find his forever family! No apartments, please. Scooby is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! May 23, 2024, 9:04 pm
