We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cloud is a 5 year old 105 pound Great Pyrenees and Australian Shepherd mix. He has a a very short tail for his size. This dog has it all: Stunning good looks and a Golden Retriever personality. If there are 99 people in the room he would want yet one more. He loves kids, crowds, stores, other dogs and has been okay around outdoor cats. He does shed. A lot. He also adores being vacuum groomed, so there’s that   He loves to go on runs with his people, he is trained to wear a gentle leader. He really loves his squeaky ball toy! Due to his ginormous size and clumsiness when excited, he would do best with children eight and up. He’s not used to being crated but is fine with being in small gated areas from time to time. He must have a securely fenced yard of at least four feet in height. He can bark, and if bored, will dig holes. He can be in a home with a high level of activity from day to day. He’s not used to being left alone for long periods of time. He’s being re-homed due to illness and family circumstances. He is pure joy to have around and loves to snuggle.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
Meet Lady Ann! The beautiful girl is 88 pounds of Pyranees/retriever perfection! Lady Ann is two years old and is ready to say so long to kennel living and join your family today! Before coming to GLDR, Lady Ann spent some time in a foster home and was an excellent houseguest! She enjoys the company of other dogs and is also house-trained! She loves the snow and enjoys chasing the ball in the yard. After she's enjoyed her time outdoors, Lady Ann loves to snuggle in close and enjoy a nice massage. This warm-hearted girl actively seeks out affection from her people and gives the best kisses! Lady Ann does well on her leash, but will need a capable handler due to her size. She knows how to sit and takes her treats gently. Adopting her will also involve committing to her grooming needs. She will benefit from continued training, daily exercise and a yard to enjoy in her new home. Based on our evaluation, we feel Lady Ann will do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. We feel she has the potential to live in a home with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think she could be the girl for you, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our lovable Lady Ann!

Story
Hey my name is Oreo Cookie! I am a good dog looking for an owner willing to offer proper training, socialization, and exercise. I am a quick learner, and with the help of some yummy treats, I will make you proud with my excellent manners. I can get nervous when I first meet someone, it’d be best for me to meet my potential dog siblings before I go home. I do have A LOT of energy and may be a bit too much for some families! However, a lot of energy also means a lot of LOVE! With time, training, and patience- you can help me be the best dog I can be!

Story
This handsome boy was picked up running at large and based on Facebook posts it was about his third or fourth offense, but no one claimed him. We are guessing that he was a failure at being a livestock guardian because he’s way too social. He’s always wanting to visit someone new. Charlie is a little over a year old and weighs 110 lbs. He was very thin when he first came to us but is now at his perfect weight. He is neutered, up to date on required vaccines, microchipped and heartworm tested negative. He’s house trained and he loves other dogs, but he is a big guy. He also will require a tall fence, and you will have to keep an eye on him because again he likes to visit new people. He’s affectionate and likes to lean on you. He is learning commands like sit and stay and he really tries to please! This is what his foster mom says about him " Charlie is amazing. He is housebroken, loves to be hugged, hasn’t chewed anything up, likes to play but is content just to chill. He walks beautifully on a leash and likes to say hi to everyone he meets. Charlie enjoys sitting and looking out the window, hanging around in the kitchen especially when I’m cooking and going for car rides. Although this breed is known for having a stubborn streak, Charlie seems to understand a few commands wait, it’s ok, no, come, let’s go and he will even sit for a treat. But his favorite is Good Boy Charlie❤️" This guy would be a great dog for an active loving family. He’s so sweet! If you would like to be Charlie’s forever family, please email dogs4mylife@ gmail.com or olmc7@ hotmail.com. If you are inquiring from a Gmail address. It is best to use our Gmail address, or you might have to look for us in your spam.
