Story
Hi my name is Bobbi! I am a good boy and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information. I am currently under the care of the shelter medical team at HSHV. If you would like to learn more about me, please reach out to the Adoption Desk at (734) 662-5585.

Story
Meet Scarlett – A Gentle Soul with a Happy HeartScarlett is a beautiful 2-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who has truly come into her own since arriving at FMAR. She came to us after it was clear that the busy energy of a very young child was more than she was comfortable with, and since then she has blossomed in the calm, supportive environment of our staff and volunteers.Scarlett bonds deeply with her people and is affectionate, attentive, and eager to connect. She is fully potty trained, knows basic commands like “sit,” and walks nicely on leash. True to her Pyrenees roots, Scarlett loves spending time outside and soaking in the world around her. When it comes to playtime, Scarlett has her own style. She enjoys tennis balls, but instead of traditional fetch, she prefers a game of keep-away or entertaining herself nearby. Her big, happy smile and constantly wagging tail make it clear she’s enjoying every moment.Scarlett has shown interest in interacting with calmer, lower-energy dogs, though we are still learning more about her preferences. She would likely do best in a home that understands her gentle nature and can offer a balanced, peaceful environment where she can continue to thrive.Scarlett is a sweet, joyful girl who is ready for a home that appreciates her for exactly who she is.If you would like to meet Scarlett, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and on monthly flea & tick prevention. Her adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care she has received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. All strays have rough estimates of their age based on the condition of their teeth. Each dog is different, so each adoption is different. Our adoption process might require multiple visits to the shelter before our dogs can go home. Or they may be ready on the first visit. It really depends on the individual dog and the potential adopters. Once we receive your application, the Dog Staff will contact you to discuss meeting our dogs.

Story
Hi. I’m Marlin. 4-year-old male Great Pyrenees/Shepherd mix Professional good boy. Semi-professional explorer. Let’s get the important stuff out of the way. I am very friendly, excellent with others, and I walk on a leash like I’ve been secretly taking etiquette classes. I love being outside. Fresh air. Breeze in my fur. Birds to politely judge. It’s my happy place. Now… my one tiny quirk. I enjoy wandering. Not “running away.” Not “escaping.” Just thoughtfully checking the perimeter to see what’s going on in the neighborhood. A curious soul with legs built for adventure. Because of this, my dream home includes: • A fenced-in yard (my wanderlust respects fences) • A human who enjoys walks as much as I do • An active lifestyle where we can stroll, explore, and then relax like champions I’m the kind of dog who’s thrilled to walk beside you, happy to meet friends, and content to spend time outside soaking up life. Give me structure, some fresh air, and a secure yard, and I’ll give you loyalty, laughs, and excellent companionship. If you’re looking for a handsome, leash-loving, slightly adventurous gentleman… congratulations. You’ve found Marlin. If interested, please call the shelter at 231-861-5395 and leave a message to be placed on this dog's adoption list. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, and are dewormed.

Story
Meet Hubbard – Gentle, Goofy, and Full of HeartHubbard is a fully house-trained, easygoing boy who thrives on routine, affection, and being close to his people. He goes outside in the morning and before bedtime, sleeps through the night, and is great about letting you know when he needs to go out. When Hubbard comes over and stares at you, it usually means one of three things: he needs to go outside (he’ll spin in happy circles if you ask), he wants a gentle face massage, or he’s ready to play.He enjoys relaxed playtime—tossing his toys, flopping onto his back, chasing his tail, or playing “I’m gonna git you” in the yard. Snow is a favorite. Afterward, he’s happiest settling down near his people, often right at their feet.Hubbard is affectionate and loves calm, gentle interaction, especially soft voices and face rubs around his ears, cheeks, and neck. If you’re sitting, he may place a paw on your lap as a polite request for attention—though left unchecked, he’s convinced he’s a tiny lap dog.He walks well on leash but prefers shorter strolls. He does great with grooming, keeps his space clean, and is a good watchdog who’s easily reassured once he knows the job is done.Hubbard has lived successfully with dogs, cats, and children and would do well in many types of homes. He enjoys being outside and would be happy with a yard where he can explore, sniff, roll, and relax.A loyal, slightly goofy companion with a huge heart, Hubbard is ready to be someone’s very best friend. If you would like to meet Hubbard, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. His adoption fee is $250, which helps cover the cost of the medical care he has received.**Please note that the breed listed for each of our dogs is a rough estimate unless DNA results are provided in their Bio. Story
Hansel – The Big, Derpy SweetheartHansel is an approximately 5-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who has blossomed since arriving at FMAR in August. Like Gretel, he came from a tough start, but since being in care, Hansel has grown into a lovable, silly, and devoted companion. While he looks a bit more like a classic Pyrenees than Gretel, Hansel is far less of the typical guardian breed. He’s delightfully derpy—often running and barking at the wind or a falling leaf—then plopping down to rest his giant head in your lap for some serious snuggles.Hansel walks beautifully on leash and adores Gretel, his “not bio sister.” He would do well in many types of homes, from active families to quiet ones, as long as he has space to roam. He tends to get nervous around new people or animals at first but once you’re in his inner circle, you’re family for life.He keeps his kennel neat and isn’t interested in toys, but he LOVES being outside—ideally in a large yard where he can explore, sniff, flop, and roll around to his heart’s content.Hansel is a gentle giant who’s ready to find a family who will cherish his goofy, loyal spirit. If you would like to meet Hansel, please submit an application for him on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. He is neutered, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Story
Gretel – Ready for Her Fresh StartGretel is an approximately 3.5-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who has been patiently waiting for her turn. She joined FMAR in August after a challenging chapter in her life and has spent the last several months showing us just how resilient, happy, and loving she truly is. Now, she’s finally ready for a home of her own. This big-hearted girl is incredibly friendly and always happy to see her people. True to her Pyrenees roots, Gretel is slightly obsessed with being outside and loves having space to explore and relax. She does well on her own or alongside her “brother” Hansel (not biologically related), and would be happy as a solo dog or with the right canine companion.Gretel does wonderfully in her kennel—she keeps it clean, follows a solid routine, and settles in nicely. She enjoys soft, stuffy toys and hard bones inside, but outdoors she’s more focused on her surroundings than toys. She has a strong, confident bark that lets you know when something new has entered her space, making her an excellent alert dog.Gretel’s ideal home would offer a very large outdoor area where she can spend much of her day enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells around her. She is not your typical “fetch-and-frisbee” dog, but she would still do well with a family who understands and appreciates her independent, guardian-style personality. Gretel is happiest when she’s able to exist alongside her people rather than constantly entertain them—and in the right home, she will be a loyal, steady presence and a truly special companion.A favorite among staff and volunteers, Gretel is ready to trade kennel life for wide-open space, comfort, and a family who loves her just the way she is.If you would like to meet Gretel, please submit an application for her on our website https://www.friendsofmichigan.org/adoptable-dogs. She is spayed, up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and on monthly flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
