Story
Thunder is the sweetest and goofiest boy around. We are unsure of his exact age but we are thinking he is around 7 or 8 years old. He weighs around 90 pounds so he is a big boy with lots of love to give. He has gotten along great with other dogs that he has come in contact with besides a little rough housing play. We are not sure how he does around cats but will most likely need to be in a cat free home due to his size. He is not the most comfortable around small children so he will need his safe space/boundaries away from children if they are in the home. He is completely house trained but does pull on a leash. We are hoping to find someone who has the patience to work with him on a leash and has the time to take him on walks and let him explore as well as provide a lot of love and cuddles.

Story
Toast is a very loving dog, the moment you sit down he comes and lays his head on your lap to ask for pets. He's pretty laid back but loves to play. He enjoys going out for walks but is usually nervous around new dogs. He loves to play fetch with squeaky balls and tug of war with rope toys. His favorite treat is cherry tomatoes and he’ll catch them out of the air. He is house trained and crate trained and knows sit, stay, leave it and a little bit of lay down. He can be a bit of a trouble maker if he doesn’t get enough exercise or stimulation, but as long as he gets daily walks and play times he’s a great family dog. He’s surprisingly quiet for a husky mix and doesn’t bark often. He definitely needs a home with a yard and someone who is more athletic or willing to take him out for long walks or play times. He grew up around another dog so he'd probably do best if he had a companion he could play with during the day. He’s good with kids big and small.

Story
I adopted Carolina from a local shelter in May of this year. She’s sweet and very good natured. Great with children, my son loves her she gets excited to see him. Rarely ever barks at anything, I’ve never heard her growl. I’m not exactly sure what she’s mixed with aside from Husky by the way. I’m in and out a lot and can’t give her the attention she should have. It’s not fair to her. I did a solid saving her, doing her another trying to find a better place for her. She walks well on a leash! She does shed a bit so washing her and brushing is a must. She’s not destructive, I don’t even crate her really but when you do, she will protest…but when she’s in there she won’t complain!

Story
MEET  KAYA! Kaya is a 2-year-old Husky mix who’s just beginning to discover how good life can be. After spending her early years isolated in a backyard with minimal interaction, she’s blossomed into a playful, curious, and affectionate companion who’s ready for adventure. Kaya loves walks and is always up for tagging along on a hike or outing. She’s goofy and full of personality — the kind of dog who will make you smile every day. While she’s still learning how to interact with other dogs, she may do well with a calm, well-socialized dog of similar size. However, she should not live with cats. She’s house trained, spayed, and knows some basic commands. Kaya is still gaining confidence with new people and situations, so she’ll do best in a home that offers structure, patience, and plenty of positive reinforcement. Kaya Would Thrive In a Home With: • An active lifestyle and lots of outdoor time • A secure, fenced yard (6 ft required) • No cats, and only one other calm dog (if any) • A confident, experienced adopter who can guide her continued progress • A calm environment to help her continue building trust Kaya is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find her people. Please note this dog is NOT an official Underdog dog, and you will be connected with the person who has the dog. Please Contact Delaney, 480-319-1725, delkellysmith@outlook.com:   MEET GRANDPA!! Grandpa is a previous rescue and has come a long way since being adopted. He has had rigorous training and responds well to learning commands. He already knows, sit, down, place (get in kennel), go to bed (in kennel), come, go, wait, leave it, and heel (walk on left side while you walk). He is still capable of learning more. He is not destructive when left alone. He is triggered by the doorbell and spends a good portion of his day sleeping by the door. Once the weather is nice, he wants to be outside as much as possible. In the evenings, he will play with his ball. He is a great companion with very little day to day needs. Grandpa was attacked before he was adopted and is very reactive. He does need to be the only pet in the home. He gets along with most humans, but he is very sensitive to the energy of those around him. He is fine with children, but he can take on a protective role to visitors while around the children. Grandpa is a wonderful dog, and would thrive in a slow paced home where he can lay out in the sun outside. He loves his belly rubbed and wants some pets when you are home, but he is otherwise a very independent dog and loves to just observe the world around him. He is currently taking glucosamine supplements, but a healthy dog. Grandpa is a wonderful dog that needs some extra understanding for his previous background. Meet Grandpa today! Taeo is my father's dog. My father passed away in October. I live in Colorado, and have been temporarily living in Arizona to care for my father, and now Taeo. I need to get back home and cannot bring him with me. Taeo is 13 years old. He is on fluconazole for valley fever and probably does not have much time left. He still goes on daily walks, eats regularly, and likes being outside. He is very mild mannered/mellow, friendly, and loyal. I work full time and am typically out of the house a lot. I hope that someone can give him a better end of life than I can.

Please note this dog is NOT an official Underdog dog, and you will be connected with the person who has the dog. Please Contact Brianna, 602-273-6852, bgushard@aawl.org:   MEET SYRUP!! Syrup is one of the longest long timers at AAWL. He came in as a feral dog and has made tremendous progress with his socialization over the years. He can be a bit shy with new people at first but warms up after patience and lots of treats! Due to his initial shyness, he may do better with kids in high school and up. Syrup was previously listed as needing to be the only dog in the home, but since being with his newest foster, he has been doing exceptionally well being introduced and going on pack walks with neighboring dogs. Due to his progress, his status has been updated to "must meet" which requires potential adopters to bring in any dogs currently in the home for a meet and greet with Syrup to make sure it is a good fit. Syrup likes spending his days chilling in the pool, playing with his toys or just sharing a nice cuddle on the couch. He did start having seizures and is currently on a trial round of Keppra. He is doing well and hasn't had a seizure since starting the medication. Syrup has thrived in all sorts of foster homes, but it's time he finds his forever home! Story
MEET NOVA!! Your loyal, lovable teddy bear is ready to find her forever home! Nova is a bright and energetic girl who thrives on adventure and loves having space to explore. Whether she’s patrolling the yard, splashing in the pool, or accompanying you to the park or Home Depot, Nova is always up for fun. With her thick, fluffy coat, she appreciates regular brushing—and surprisingly, she even enjoys a light vacuum session to help keep the shedding at bay! This social sweetheart gets along well with dogs who match her size and energy level. However, because of her playful spirit and high energy, a home without small pets or young kids would be best. Nova can be a bit of an escape artist, so she’ll need a secure yard with a 6-foot fence. She’s currently on a poultry-free diet due to allergies, so beef-based foods are best for her. In return for a little TLC, Nova offers endless loyalty, adventure, and affection. Ready to meet Nova? Apply today: www.underdogaz.com/adoption-applicationDecember 7, 2025, 9:24 pm
