Story
I am fostering Kato from a friend who adopted him. He had one owner for his 9 years. They surrendered him because they had a new baby. Kato is very relaxed, likes walks and long naps. I give him a zinc supplement everyday for a husky zinc-deficiency issue that he seems to have. He's up-to-date on all his shots. He weighs 80 pounds. I cannot keep him forever because my house is not big enough for him and my two giant breed adult dogs that I have raised from puppies! He would make a great, cheerful addition to many homes!

Story
This pretty girl is Jada.  It has been pointed out by someone who has had Carolina Dogs that Jada is likely one herself.  After reading about the breed the foster mom is sure she is.  She is guessed to be 3 years old and about 60 lbs.  She is smart, affectionate, high energy and vocal.  She would do best with a fenced yard or another play mate.  She loves to run, play and roughhouse with the other young dogs in her foster home.  She can be a bully to older and or very submissive dogs   She is housebroke and goes into her crate easily.  She is very intelligent and learned sit, down and shake paw in a matter of minutes.  She will make a great dog for a family but is probably too high energy for toddlers and younger .   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Jada’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
** REQUIRES 6 FT FENCE **   Breccia is a beautiful 2 year old, 60 lb, blue eyed Husky mix.   She loves adventures and friends! She can be active and go hiking or be a couch potato at home. She loves toys and wrestling with her dog friends. She can be chatty like a husky but not overly vocal.    Breccia is the best dog with kids, all kids! She is a real people pleaser that aims to please. She loves her dog friends too but she is head over heels with a playful male dog! She is a flirt and prefers males over females when it comes to her furry companions.   She is nondestructive in a home and can be kenneled or left out. Fully Potty trained! She does require a 6 ft fence. She has never tried to escape my privacy fence but I am told she previously jumped a 4 ft fence. Although she does not jump babygates in our home.      If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Story
Neo is a beautiful 1 1/2 year old husky.  He is housebroken, crate trained and good with other dogs.  We are not sure about cats.  He loves his people and wants to be with them.  We are told he’s good with children but would likely be too much for toddlers.  He needs a fenced in yard but can climb a chain link but only seems to do it when trying to get to his people.  You would not be able to leave him outside without being able to come in and check on you.    He has a doggie door situation at his foster him where he can do this.  He would do best in a home where he has a high energy playmate or where someone can run or exercise him.  He can be dominate so tends to pick on the older and more submissive dogs in his foster home.  He’s affectionate and a good boy that needs the right home and someone who is familiar with huskies or have done their research on the breed.  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Neo's adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
Meet baby girl Autum. She is new to GPG and looking for a family to call her own. Part of the fun of adopting a puppy from an animal rescue is the surprise that comes along with their growth. Their size at adulthood is simply a guess and cannot be guaranteed. When you adopt a puppy from GPG, we trust that you will love and care for this animal regardless of their actual adult size and physical appearance. If you are interested in a meet and greet for adoption for Autum, please fill out an application on our website at www.gatewaypets.org/adopt. If you are interested in learning more about Autum or the adoption process at GPG, please email placement@gatewaypets.org All of our dogs and cats will be micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and up-to-date on vaccinations at the time of adoption. For more photos of Autum, follow us on Facebook Gateway Pet Guardians and Instagram @gatewaypets ... #gpgAutum. To view other adoptable pets from our shelter, please visit, www.gatewaypets.org/adopt Gateway Pet Guardians is proud to offer a variety of mixed breed dogs available for adoption. However, please keep in mind that we rarely know the genetic background of the animals we rescue and, as such, we cannot guarantee the exact breed combinations found within this dog. However, we do not know her actual genetic makeup. Just know that this dog is probably a variety of several different breeds that have combined to create one very amazing and unique animal.

Story
Gwen is so cute and totally petite. She is definitely a little husky. She is a bit on the shy side and will need some love and reassurance to build her confidence. Don't we all? Come to the shelter and meet this girl. She is so wonderful and deserving of a fresh start with people who will help build her self esteem. She is good with other dogs too. Gwen is 9 months old and weighs 30 pounds. The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting Gwen, please stop by the shelter during open hours or complete an adoption application on our website. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet Gwen.helpingstrays.orgGwen has heartworms and will be starting treatment soon. She would greatly benefit from having a calm home to recuperate in rather than trying to rest in a noisy and stressful shelter environment. If you would like to provide a foster home during Gwen's heartworm treatment, Helping Strays will provide everything you need; the medical care, crate, food, etc. Gwen can still be adopted but will need to come back to the shelter periodically to complete her treatment which is covered in the adoption fee.

Story
Eowyn (pronounced "A O win") is a very wonderful dog. I drove down to Texas to pick her up from a dear friend who is battling pancreatic cancer and could no longer take care of her. When I got home with her to Illinois, I immediately found out that she is NOT compatible with other animals, especially cats. She is a VERY loving dog, very emotionally supportive and she LOVES all people!!!! Please help me find her a forever home. She just cannot be with any other pets or animals. The very minute you meet her you will fall in love with her. I live in Belleville, IL and am willing to transport her within 200 mile radius, or even further if necessary

Story
Zeva was surrendered to Country Acres Rescue by her original owner who could no longer care for her. Unfortunately, the next door neighbor was threatening to shoot and kill Zeva because she would get out of the house frequently; her favorite place to go was next door in the neighbor's yard. Zeva is a beautiful chocolate brown and white pure bred husky. She is very friendly with cats, dogs, and children; she loves to play! Please contact CAR at 636-227-1919 to inquire more about Zeva and how to adopt her to make her apart of your loving family.

*Introducing Simba, the Husky Prince!**Simba is not your average dog - he’s a young husky prince full of life and charm! This stunning red husky mix is about 1.5 years old, weighing just over 50 pounds. With one blue eye and one brown, Simba’s unique look matches his unique personality.Simba loves nothing more than playing fetch and leaning against his favorite people for some love and attention. Despite his size, he’s good about not jumping up on you, though he’s always eager to learn new skills and tricks. One of Simba’s favorite pastimes is interacting with other dogs, from the tiniest to the largest. He’s fantastic with them all, making him a great companion for any furry friend. If you’re looking for a playful, loving, and incredibly unique dog, Simba might just be the one for you. Give him some scratches, and he’ll probably try to catch the hair that floats away afterward - that’s just the kind of quirky, lovable pup he is!IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 29, 2024, 5:57 am
