Story
This handsome young man is Zha.  He is guessed to be a husky (maybe shepherd) mix.   He is 100% good boy.   He is guessed to be approximately 2 years old and 50-55 lbs.  Hr is super dog friendly with all the dogs in his foster home including a 14 lb senior, blind dog.   He prefers to play with the younger energetic dogs.  He has a lot of puppy play in him.   So far he has great house manners.  Appears to be housebroke. And goes into a crate well with a treat.   He would make an active family a wonderful additional family member or a great running partner.   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Zha’s adoption fee is $295.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Story
Meet Spike!   Spike is a male, 10-week-old large breed husky mix puppy (born on 6/21/26)! He loves to play with his foster siblings and would do well in a home with a companion or by himself. We think that he would do great in a home with kids, but he does like to nibble and will need to be taught his puppy manners. Spike has not been cat tested, but we think with the proper introduction he would be fine! Spike is learning basic commands and manners but will require ongoing training. He is not house trained but will consistently use a potty pad. We are working on crate training, as well. Spike will most likely be 50-75 lbs. when full grown.    Spike loves to chew toys, give kisses, explore, and cuddle. Spike can be a little shy at first, but he's an absolute doll once he feels at home. He's extremely curious and very playful!  If interested, please  complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Our $295 adoption fee includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
Some people want a standard-issue, cookie-cutter dog: one who looks like thousands of others. One who fits into neat categories. I'm for those other guys. The ones who want a one-of-a-kind dog. My name is Koda and you're not going to find my face on mass-produced socks that say "proud owner of a [insert breed here]". You're not going to chat up a stranger and be able to convey my whole personality in one sentence. I'm a complex guy. I'm eleven years old, 59 lb, and generally pretty low-key. I don't need a whole lot of exercise, but I do love going for walks. I love attention and get a little bounce in my step when someone I know and like comes to hang out with me. I'm a bit "cat-like." I'm independent AND affectionate. I can spend ages just chilling on my own, hanging out quietly in the sunshine, taking naps, and watching the world go by. I'm deaf, or at least quite hard-of-hearing, so I'm not bothered by noise. Before I came to the shelter, I had gone without regular healthcare for a long time, so I was sensitive and in pain. I'm a lot better now and most of my health problems have resolved. The only special care I need is that, for my meals, I eat canned food instead of dry. I'm still a bit touchy when it comes to body handling, though, so I'd need an adopter who is willing to treat me with respect and occasionally take "no" for an answer. For that reason, I'm probably not the best match for a home with young kids. I've earned the right to have my curmudgeonly moments, I think. I just want to live an easy, quiet life with nobody pestering me, except when I want it. I'd like to be a solo pet- no other dogs or cats, please. Just my favorite human(s) and me. Because I'm 11 years old, I'm eligible for the Seniors-4-Seniors program. That means I'm available for adoption by anyone of any age, but if someone over 65 adopts me, the adoption fee is just one dollar and routine vet care and food for the rest of my life is covered at no cost to the adopter. So if you've got room in your life for a one-of-a-kind occasionally-grumpy old man, come and check me out! If interested please fill out a preliminary at odas.org/canine and someone will contact you to schedule your visit.

Story
Meet Tonka! He is friendly, playful, housebroken, and ready to find a home of his very own. Tonka is looking for a family who will appreciate all the charm, silliness, and adventure that comes with being a Husky even though he is pretty reserved for the breed. Tonka is ready to trade shelter life for a comfy bed, a loving family, and plenty of fun.Tonka is 3 years old and weighs 70 pounds. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org

Story
I'm Annie, a striking 2-year-old white Husky with a heart full of adventure! 🐕 I'm energetic and playful, always ready for action and fun with the people I love. I'm affectionate and friendly, and I bring mischief and joy wherever I go — life's never boring with me around! I'm not yet spayed, so that's something to discuss with the shelter team. I also have a strange looking front left arm but that is something I've dealt with my whole left and it doesn't stop me from doing anything and everything I want to do! My adoption fee is $400 (covers spay procedure, vaccinations at intake, testing at intake, and heartworm prevention up to the date of adoption), and I'm looking for an active family ready to keep up with all this Husky energy. ❄️ Come meet me and let's start our next adventure together! 🐾
