Story
Gorda is a gentle soul looking for her forever home! This sweet Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix does well with other small dogs and enjoys their company. Gorda is still learning to trust people and appreciates having time and patience from her humans. Once she feels safe, she’ll warm up and be your loyal snuggle buddy. Due to her preference for a quieter environment, Gorda would do best in a home with adults or children over 12. If you have room in your heart for a loving pup who’s ready to blossom, Gorda may be the perfect companion for you!August 27, 2025, 3:11 pm

Story
Maggie is 3-4 year old Terrier/Chihuahua/Poodle mix weighing about 15lbs.  Maggie came to us over a year ago from a hoarding case where there were over 60 Chihuahua/Poodle mixes living in a small home in Denver.  They were all incredibly under socialized and neglected, with most of the females being pregnant.  We were able to take in 5 of the pregnant moms from Maxfund to help get them into a safe and comfortable place to give birth and raise their puppies.  We also took about 8 other dogs from the hoarding case to start them socializing and learning how to "dog".  Maggie is now the last dog from the hoarding case and needs her forever family.  Maggie has clearly been through a lot and still has a long way to come.  She is a sweet girl but still pretty timid around humans.  She will come and snuggle with her foster Momma on her terms but it did take an incredibly long time for that to happen.  Maggie really needs a human who can be patient with her and give her a forever home with lots of love knowing she came from an incredibly rough situation and will probaly never be a completely "normal" dog. Her fosters describe her as more of a cat-dog.  We know she could make more progress with some training as well.  We will require she goes to a home with another dog so she can continue to learn how to trust and be a dog. Story
Enzo is a 3MO, 6lb, adorable little Terrier/Chihuahua Mix.  Enzo was dumped at an overcrowded shelter in New Mexico with his siblings as a little baby.  The shelter reached out to us in hopes we could take them before they got sick in the shelter, and so they could be properly socialized in our foster program.  They have now been with us for a few weeks, and are happy, healthy, well socialized puppies ready to find their forever families.   Enzo is a sweet little boy who loves to romp around with his siblings and the other dogs in the home.  He is a snuggly and very loving little pup.  He would do great in a home with another dog or with a family who has lots of time to spend with a new little pup.  If you are interested in adopting Enzo, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2587227##

Story
Hi, my name is Charley Feeny and while I'm the happiest buddy now, before my Underdog days I had a pretty rough go of it. I used to have a loving mama, but one day she went away, and I found myself living with a person who did not like me very much. He was not feeding me or even letting me in from the cold. I wandered off and a nice lady found me. I showed her where I lived and she took me back, but the man said I was a stray and even though I barked and barked, he would not let me inside. The nice lady took me to a shelter. They said I was a hospice senior, and I that I was on the urgent rescue list. Fortunately, the staff really liked me, so they reached out to Underdogs, who sent a new mama to pick me up. My new foster home is so nice. There are other dogs to play with, I am allowed to curl up under the covers whenever I want to and there is lots of healthy food and treats to eat. She took me to the dog doc and she told her that I was neither neither a senior nor a hospice dog. I tried to tell everyone that, but apparently dog docs are more trustworthy. As it turns out, I am only about 6 years old and though not being fed regularly and neglected overall was hard on my kidneys, proper food and some medicine have been healing them nicely. I now weigh thirteen pounds and am looking perky and am the most handsome scruffy terrier and miniature poodle mix.  I love the fenced yard at my foster digs and I especially love going for walks in the morning. New foster mama put an open crate in the living room so I can go in there any time I need time to myself. I also like toys to play with. One weekend we had lots of company, including a 12-year-old girl and extra dogs. Mama said she was so proud of how I behaved.  She tells me that we are looking for my new forever family, someone that will take me for walks, feed me well, love me and help me feel secure again. She says that I will do best with adults and older children with dog experience. I love dog friends, but the kitties are not my most favorite.  If you're interested in adopting Charlie Feeny, please fill out an adoption application here: https://underdogsrescue.org/adopt-form/ Underdogs is a small volunteer-based animal rescue and we unfortunately do not have the resources to respond to phone and email inquires about our adoptable animals at this time. If you're interested in learning more or setting up a meeting with one of our animals, please complete an adoption application first. It may take up to two weeks for application review and one of our coordinators will reach out to you as soon as we are through the intitial review process. We appreciate your patience and understanding! Thank you!  ##2084570##

Story
Posie is a 1 year old, 13lb Terrier mix.  Posie was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in Texas.  The shelter reached out to us for help because they were over capacity and desperate to move dogs before having to make tough decisions.  We knew Posie could find a great home here in CO! Posie has been here in CO with one of our wonderful foster families and is ready to find her forever family.  She gets along great with cats, dogs, kids, and all humans.  Posie is a submissive, playful little girl who wants nothing more in the world than to love and be loved.  She loves to wiggle her little butt and will roll over on her back when she gets attention to get all the belly rubs.  She loves to romp around and still has that fun puppy energy.  Posie has the cutest little underbite and everybody that meets her just falls in love with her immediately.   If you are interested in adopting Posie, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2481939##

Story
Hi!! I am Bouncer! I am a youngster that was part of a litter of puppies surrendered by a breeder and brought up from Texas. I was super scared when I first arrived at my foster home in mid-September, because I had not been socialized. However, I have become a HUGE cuddle bug and I love cuddling with my siblings or my humans. I like to be approached slowly, but, overall, I have become very confident and love to go on outings and play with toys, although I am more of a serial toy killer, at the moment. As you can see in the pics, I have fallen asleep on foster mommy's chest and I try to climb in her lap ALL day long to cuddle while she is working. She is still learning what a great assistant I am, but that's okay, she is making progress. As a Rat Terrier, I am smart, attentive and loyal. Right now, I am learning basic commands and boundaries such as appropriate / inappropriate things to chew but I am progressing well. My foster mommy says I am soooo SWEET! Please come meet me and I hope you have another confident doggy as I love being part of a pack and learning from other doggies.

Story
Boss is a spunky little guy who is learning what it means to be loved by humans. He is super cuddly once he trusts his people. He is absolutely adorable and his eyes will melt your heart! Boss has a really cute, super playful personality. He loves to run zoomies in the house and yard and follows his foster mom everywhere. He is learning how nice it is to have snuggly dog beds and blankets on the couch to curl up in. Boss is guessed to be just under a year old male Rat Terrier and is ready to be loved! His foster mom thinks he was never touched by humans because he was so afraid of her when he first arrived that he growled at her. Being a dog trainer, his foster mom knows that is just nervous fear. If she takes her time and goes at his pace he absolutely loves to be rocked in a rocking chair, being lightly pet and even given kisses on his head. This handsome young man came to us from Oklahoma and most likely was surrendered to a shelter by a breeder. Rat Terriers are known to be smart, attentive and are very loyal companions. He came in with 3 other Rat Terriers and all of them were very afraid of people so we are not really sure what their history is. He is just needing a patient adopter who is willing to go at his pace and love him the way he needs to be loved. Boss loves to play with other dogs so he would probably love to have a confident canine buddy in his future home but it is not completely necessary if an adopter has lots of love to share with him. Boss loves his kennel and sleeps through the night and naps in it during the day. This handsome boy is waiting patiently to find his FurEver Family and is currently being fostered with one of our dog trainers that specializes and rehabilitates shy or unsocialized dogs. His foster mom has an amazing rehabilitation protocol to help these precious dogs and is working with all the dogs in her care on potty training, socializing with dogs and humans, kennel training, doggie door training and if time permits, leash and car training. There are lots of other dogs at his foster mom's house so we know he is dog friendly. His foster doesn't have any cats but thinks he would be fine with them if introduced slowly and properly. We also think he would be fine with older / calm children. Please consider this adorable dog as a part of your family. He deserves all the kindness and will give you a lifetime of affection. His foster mom is located in Fort Collins Colorado and wants to find a patient adopter, who is willing to do a minimum of one paid (discounted) training session with her. This training session is NOT basic obedience, but instead, is designed for rescue dogs and teaches the adopter how to work to build the dogs confidence and overcome any trauma the dog may have experienced. This training is to teach the adopter how to help the dog be successful in their new home and will help the family and this sweet dog bond and adjust to their new life together. The foster provides a discount on training to her adopters. Please apply for Boss today!!

Story
Bumper is thought to be an approximately 1 year old Rat Terrier. He is just settling in and needs time to warm up. He is very nervous of people and will need someone with experience with a scared dog. Because of his fear, he looks for escape routes and will need a secure yard. He would also do best if there was another confident dog already in your family. Bumper has learned that he likes to be petted and loves to sit next to you on a fuzzy blanket. Good with cats and dogs, but because of his fear level, should not be around children (but he doesn't bite). He has wonderful potential to be your new best friend with time. Rat Terriers are known to be smart, attentive and are very loyal companions. Apply for Bumper and come meet him today!
