Story
Winona -What’s not to love with this pretty girl. Although she will be a big girl she is sweet, playful, smart and cuddly.   Winona will for sure make you laugh and warm your heart  This pup was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas. Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. Check out our events page for upcoming open adoption events! We have no additional back story or update for this dog at this time.  When we do, it will be updated here.  This is all the information we have currently. Approved Applicants may make the adoption fee payment by clicking donate above.  Partial adoption fees will not hold a dog. Dogs adopted with our rescue come with FREE training from #GoodPup to help you build strong bonds from the start! If upon meeting the dog of your choosing at your scheduled pickup time you find that you aren't a good match, your deposit will be fully refunded. Adoption fees include vaccines up until time of adoption, microchip, spay/neuter and 1st 30 days of free Pet insurance.  We are not affiliated with Pet First pet insurance. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets. The dogs in our care are fostered in Colorado, Texas, and New Mexico.  While all dogs are picked up during our scheduled times, sometimes transport dates change due to unforeseen circumstances.   More questions?  Read our FAQs here: https://4p4l.org/faqs/  Breed labels are a "best guess" by a shelter veterinarian and cannot be guaranteed.  A new study has concluded that (in layman's terms), breed assumption is NOT indicative of behavior in mixed breed dogs.  Therefore, if a dog looks presumably to be a German Shepherd breed, one cannot assume the dog will have a high prey drive.  From the study: "Although many physical traits were associated with breeds, behavior was much more variable among individual dogs. In general, physical trait heritability was a greater predictor of breed but was not necessarily a predictor of breed ancestry in mutts. Among behavioral traits, biddability—how well dogs respond to human direction—was the most heritable by breed but varied significantly among individual dogs. Thus, dog breed is generally a poor predictor of individual behavior and should not be used to inform decisions relating to selection of a pet dog" - https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abk0639 ##2170290##

Story
Pookie came to us in an interesting way. I wish I could say that her story was unique. Uncommon. But unfortunately it's not. Pookie was picked up running in the street by the UPS man and brought to a local vet. His words , if you don't take her I'll just have to put her back out on the street. Of course they didn't hesitate. As it turns out she had an old foot injury ( small break ) that had already started to heal. Two days later she broke with parvo. This girl is a SURVIVOR!!!! And do you think her tail stopped wagging for one second ????? NO! It's impossible to break her spirit. She has continued to thrive as she recovered from parvo, had a cast for 6 weeks and is now with her amazing foster mom Lori. She goes to work with her on occasion and on the days she doesn't, she is so excited to go back she can hardly contain herself . Pookie is happy! She is smart! She is kennel trained. She is leash trained. She is such a bright spot in our day and we are so blessed our paths crossed and we were able to help her! She's ready now for her new forever family. If you would like to learn more about her please follow the link below to our adoption application. She's a foster home in Memphis, Tennessee and the transport company we use runs every weekend, leaving Memphis Friday mornings around 6 AM, starting a group chat with the drivers and all adopters with pets on board and traveling north east as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Cutie Pie is an 8 year old , 25 pound small terrier mix who belongs to a 90 year old woman who needs to rehome him. Her house has lots of people coming and going and it makes Cutie Pie nervous. He has been good with all dogs and only occasionally chases the cat. Cutie Pie is sweet with his owner though it did take about 10 days for him to warm up to her after she adopted him from a local shelter. He loves giving kisses on the cheek very morning, playing and getting pets from his owner. He is house trained and enjoys chilling out on the couch. Cutie Pie is scared of new people when they come into house and starltles at loud noises. He will thrive in a home where there are few strangers coming and going. He barks when people come in and will nip if they try to approach him but has not bitten. He is working with a trainer and sessions with the trainer are included in his adoption. His owner is waiving the adoption fee. This is a courtesy post for her. If you would like to adopt please apply at https://www.circle2rescue.com/dog-adoption-application/  ##2155032##
