Maggie is 3-4 year old Terrier/Chihuahua/Poodle mix weighing about 15lbs. Maggie came to us over a year ago from a hoarding case where there were over 60 Chihuahua/Poodle mixes living in a small home in Denver. They were all incredibly under socialized and neglected, with most of the females being pregnant. We were able to take in 5 of the pregnant moms from Maxfund to help get them into a safe and comfortable place to give birth and raise their puppies. We also took about 8 other dogs from the hoarding case to start them socializing and learning how to "dog". Maggie is now the last dog from the hoarding case and needs her forever family. Maggie has clearly been through a lot and still has a long way to come. She is a sweet girl but still pretty timid around humans. She will come and snuggle with her foster Momma on her terms but it did take an incredibly long time for that to happen. Maggie really needs a human who can be patient with her and give her a forever home with lots of love knowing she came from an incredibly rough situation and will probaly never be a completely "normal" dog. Her fosters describe her as more of a cat-dog. We know she could make more progress with some training as well. We will require she goes to a home with another dog so she can continue to learn how to trust and be a dog. Posie is a 1 year old, 13lb Terrier mix. Posie was surrendered to an overcrowded shelter in Texas. The shelter reached out to us for help because they were over capacity and desperate to move dogs before having to make tough decisions. We knew Posie could find a great home here in CO! Posie has been here in CO with one of our wonderful foster families and is ready to find her forever family. She gets along great with cats, dogs, kids, and all humans. Posie is a submissive, playful little girl who wants nothing more in the world than to love and be loved. She loves to wiggle her little butt and will roll over on her back when she gets attention to get all the belly rubs. She loves to romp around and still has that fun puppy energy. Posie has the cutest little underbite and everybody that meets her just falls in love with her immediately. Hopscotch is a very special fella, he only has 3 legs but it doesn’t stop him. He’s fearful of humans and he’ll need a lot of love and reassurance. I’ve had to go really slow with him, so I’m not sure about walking with a harness and leash. I recommend he has a family that will work with him to show love and trust. Misty had a rough start in life and almost didn't make it to Colorado. Her eye was badly infected and she needed to have it removed. But FOJ rescuers saw her sweetness and resiliency shining through and made it happen. Now, she's a one-eyed wonder and she barely seems to notice she's different! This tiny, scruffy girl will melt your heart! She is a mix of so many things depending on her comfort level -- she can be shy at first and a little skittish, but her explorer nature quickly takes over as she checks out every corner of your house. She loves being close to her humans and really just wants to curl up on your lap! She's great with kids and other dogs. Misty is making great progress on potty training and has been successfully using the doggy door! She's still learning basic commands and is getting more comfortable walking on a leash. ##2601630##

Hello! I’m Max! I’m a sweet, playful boy looking for my new home. I’ve lived indoors my whole life and am fully house trained. I even ring a bell when I need to go outside! I’m crate trained when left alone, love car rides, and get very excited for walks (sometimes I pull because I’m so eager). I know lots of commands like sit, stay, lay down, sit pretty, fetch, and more I’m very treat-motivated and love learning. I’m a fun, affectionate dog with a puppy-like personality. I love fetch, swimming, chasing sprinklers, and cuddling. Balls are my favorite, and if you hold one too long, I’ll sit there wiggling with excitement. I enjoy stuffies (especially taking them apart) and have a bit of a sassy streak, but I adjust well once I’m comfortable.I can be nervous around strangers and may bark or growl at first, but I warm up with time. I’d do best in a home with children over 12 who understand dog boundaries. I’m shy and fearful with other dogs and would need a slow, in-shelter meet and greet. I’ve chased cats before, so a cat-free home is best. I’m nervous but well-behaved at the vet. With patience, love, and understanding, I’ll be a loyal, playful companion. I can’t wait to meet you and show you what a good boy I am!
