Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Georgi, the delightful 5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier mix who's ready to steal your heart! Georgi is a bundle of joy who quickly settled into his foster home like he's been there forever. With leash and crate training already under his belt, he's a dream companion for walks or cozying up on your lap while you work. He's housebroken, though there might be some initial marking. Georgi interacted wonderfully with my granddaughters, aged 7 and 9, during their visit. However, I'm uncertain how he'd react to much younger children. Georgi is happiest when he's outdoors, whether he's exploring the neighborhood or enjoying playtime with other dogs. He'd be an ideal companion for jogging or any active pursuits.   Despite his occasional mischievous streak, Georgi is a quiet and easy companion who's sure to bring endless love and laughter into your home. If you're ready for a loyal and loving furry friend who's as adaptable as he is adorable, Georgi is the perfect match for you! Georgi is from Texas.  ** One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Introducing Orson, the easy-going well-mannered pup from Texas. Orson is the perfect balance of chill and spunk. Majority of the time, he's super laid back but has a playful/goofy side that comes out the more comfortable he gets. Orson would love to tag along with you anywhere you go, whether it's going on a nature walk or a trip to a brewery/restaurant - he's game for it all! He gets excited when he knows he gets to go with for a car ride. Although Orson approaches new people with caution, he will accept a pet from anyone and will go back for more. He's also friendly when meeting new dogs. He gets along well with the resident dogs in his foster home but hasn't shown much interest in playing with them. He prefers to play with toys and tag along with whatever the humans are doing. His favorite activities are exploring the yard, sunbathing on the patio and, above all, snuggling. Orson is a huge snuggle bug who enjoys falling asleep in your arms while getting his belly rubbed. If you are looking for a companion that wants to be by your side 24/7, Orson just might be the guy for you! Look at this fun video and this adorable video of Orson playing!   Orson is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Sheridan! When Sheridan found her way into the rescue she was thin and emaciated. She has been settling into her Texas foster home and receiving some much-needed TLC! One thing you'll quickly notice about Sheridan is her intense love for food. She's so eager to eat that she inhales her meals in record time. To help her slow down and enjoy her food more, her Texas foster parent uses a special dog bowl designed to help dogs slow down when they eat and separates her from other during feeding time. Recently, Sheridan's foster parent discovered that she's very fearful of storms. The loud thunder sent her into a panic, causing her to break out of her crate in search of safety and comfort. Now that this is known, there are many ways to help her feel more safe and comfortable during storms, including something called a thundershirt!  Sheridan has many favorite parts of the day. As mentioned, Mealtime is definitely at the top of her list, she also enjoy sitting in her loved ones laps, playing with toys and she enjoys having the freedom of using the doggie door to go in and out as she pleases. While she will go into her kennel, she would much prefer to be out and about in the house, hanging out with her humans! Sheridan has some quirks that make her unique like the funny moaning sounds she makes. She is only 1 year old and still has some puppy tendencies that require patience and supervision. She's prone to chewing on things if left unsupervised, and her intense focus on food means she'll dig in the trash or counter surf if given the chance. Sheridan has not been introduced to children or cats. Sheridan is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rhett Butler is the perfect little cuddle buddy. He is a very easy dog that would fit great into a lower activity home. His favorite thing to do is nap and loves being next to a human companion. He can be a little nervous in new situations, but is always gentle. He is building up his confidence more and more each day. He loves treats and is doing a great job learning basic commands. He is pretty low energy, but does enjoy getting outside to do some sniffing around. Rhett Butler is waiting for his new best friend to sit on the couch with! Is it you?
