Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Georgi, the delightful 3-year-old Jack Russell Terrier/Boston Terrier mix who's ready to steal your heart! Georgi is a bundle of joy who quickly settled into his foster home like he's been there forever. With leash and crate training already under his belt (and almost potty training), he's a dream companion for walks or cozying up on your lap while you work. Georgi is happiest when he's outdoors, whether he's exploring the neighborhood or enjoying playtime with other dogs. He's a master at chilling on a barstool beside you, but watch out for his sneaky side – he's been known to counter surf and make a dash for the door when excitement strikes! Despite his occasional mischievous streak, Georgi is a quiet and easy companion who's sure to bring endless love and laughter into your home. If you're ready for a loyal and loving furry friend who's as adaptable as he is adorable, Georgi is the perfect match for you! Georgi is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Rhett Butler, or Butler to his closest friends! This little dude loves belly rubs and has a tail that won't stop wagging. He started the most recent chapter of his life as a stray in Texas, hanging out with two of his canine buddies. Some wonderful humans helped him off the streets and he is currently thriving in his Texas foster home. Butler is the kind of dog who gets along with everyone. Currently living the good life with dogs of various shapes and sizes, he’s proven he’s as sociable as they come. While his foster parent is at work, he’s content chilling in his kennel, but the real party starts when the door opens and it’s time to enjoy the freedom of the backyard through the doggy door. There’s something about Butler that just makes you smile. Maybe it's his great disposition or how his eyes light up when he’s the center of attention, especially during those all-important belly rub sessions. He’s a magnet for affection, thriving on head scratches and any love you’re willing to give. Butler is as easygoing as they come. He’s very easy to love, with a heart just waiting to bond with his new humans. Whether you’re looking for a companion to light up your daily routines or a furry friend who’s always up for a snuggle, Butler is ready to fill that spot in your life. Butler has not been introduced to children or cats. Butler is from Texas. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Darcy! Her journey to find a forever home in Minnesota started in Southwest Houston, where she was found tied to a tree in a schoolyard. Despite this, her spirit remained unbroken, and now she's living the good life in foster care, waiting to make her way to Minnesota to meet her forever family! Darcy's the kind of dog who doesn't know a stranger. She's being fostered with dogs of all shapes and sizes and loves each one of them with her whole heart. A true goofball at heart, she finds joy in the simple things—like a good game of fetch in the backyard or just romping around with her canine pals. It's pretty clear, Darcy lives for playtime and good vibes. What's really special about Darcy is her easy-going nature. Nothing seems to bother her; she's as chill as they come. But don't let that fool you—she's got energy to spare when it's time to play. She’s a happy-go-lucky girl who’s sure to bring a lot of joy and laughter into your home. While she's not high maintenance, we think Darcy would love to be in a home with another dog. She's got so much love and playfulness to share, and having a built-in play-mate would be the cherry on top of her perfect new life. Don't have another dog? That is no problem, she would be happy with regular playdates with dog friends as well. So, if you've got room in your heart and home for a sweet, playful goofball who's sure to brighten your every day, Darcy is waiting for you! Darcy has not been introduced to cats. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there! I’m Khloe, a lovable ball of energy! I'm very smart and love to chew. I would consider myself an indoor dog, and would thrive in a cozy home where I can be part of the family. I am house trained and do just fine in a kennel where I sleep at night—I actually don’t mind it. You won’t hear a peep from me unless I’m outside and see or hear the neighbor dog… can you really blame me? Sometimes I can get a little too excited around cats. I mean well, I just always think they are up for a game of chase! I'm a submissive sweetheart when it comes to other dogs and enjoy running around with them. In terms of routine, I enjoy my morning potty breaks, breakfast, playtime, followed by some individual attention throughout the day. I also enjoy supervised playdates with other dogs! I love everyone! Big or small, I won’t hesitate to jump on your lap for some lovey-dovey time! I’m very food motivated, which makes me a quick learner! I’m currently working on sit, stay, down, and other simple commands. I could work on my leash training as well. My foster mom even thinks I would do great with agility training! While I love to be outside, my foster mom won’t leave me unsupervised too long because I like to dig. When I am indoors, I love to watch out the window and admire nature from inside… SQUIRREL!   Khloe is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application.
