Whittaker was found as a stray and currently lives in his foster home with a large dog and a couple of cats. Whittaker is as sweet as pie and loves people, just as much as he loves his food. He is precious to watch as he gets excited for every meal, and his favorite treats are mini cucumbers. Whittaker is house broken, has never had an accident in his foster home and is crate trained. To make Whittaker the happiest dog in the world all you need to do is provide a warm lap, accept his kisses and play with his favorite ball. To meet Whittaker, fill out an adoption application!!

Story
ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED: “Reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!” declared CAPTAIN JACK. We introduced you to CAPTAIN JACK at the end of December hoping to find him a hospice foster. SDHR pulled him from a rural shelter due to some reported serious health issues. However, in working with our vet we discovered that he doesn’t have any life-threatening health issues and he’s ready to find a furever home! Captain Jack is a Jack Russell terrier-type boy, 9-10 years old and 13 pounds. He’s spent the past month in one of our wonderful foster homes where he's proven to be an affectionate cuddle bug, good with other small dogs, cats, and children. Captain Jack has a seizure disorder which is well-regulated with an inexpensive medication. He also has a collapsed trachea, not uncommon among small dogs of a certain age. He needs to wear a harness rather than a collar. An X-ray shows that Captain Jack suffered a broken right rear leg at some point in the past which was not properly treated. It’s an old injury and there’s nothing that can be done at this point. It doesn’t cause him any pain. Captain Jack moves around just fine and enjoys being outdoors, but he’s not suited for long walks. Captain Jack just had a dental cleaning, has been fully vetted and is ready to find a home of his very own. Captain Jack is best suited to a quiet home with another friendly small dog companion. He is crate trained, knows a few basic commands and adores his people. If you’d like to meet Captain Jack, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Captain Jack at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate but must have a pre-approved application to take him home with you. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoption fee covers the dog’s veterinary care, including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm prevention and any other needed veterinary care. A deposit is required to take a dog home for a trial period. The deposit will be applied to the dog’s final adoption fee.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 3:52 pm

Story
MCFLURRY is one sweet treat of a dog. He's a lively little mixed breed boy, 2-3 years old and fully grown at just 19 pounds. McFlurry is a silly boy who loves toys and will do anything for a treat. He loves people of all ages. He's fine with other dogs but not particularly interested in them, he craves attention from humans. He's a Heinz 57 Varieties-type mixed breed boy. He has the cute bouncy personality of a Jack Russell Terrier, a coat like an Australian Cattle Dog (but NO herding dog behaviors). Maybe a little Boston Terrier? Some Chihuahua? Who knows!!! Whatever his breed mix, he is a fun, busy, beautiful boy. If you'd like to meet adorable McFlurry, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet McFlurry at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate, if he's still available. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized.
