Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Twix is a 1 year old purebred Chocolate Labrador Retriever who was rescued from the shelter. This gorgeous chocolate brown dude weighs 70 pounds and is just as perfect as can be! Twix was surrendered to the shelter because he “got too big” (even though he is a normal sized lab)! We sprung him out of his kennel and promised him a sugary sweet forever family ahead!  Now, like any young Lab, Twix is active and energetic. He needs a home that is prepared for his energy. Labs are puppies in adult bodies at least until they are 3 but let's get real, it's more like 4-5 years old. Now, he's a bundle of fun for sure. He just needs activities. Are you up for playdates? Dog beach? Dog parks? Running buddy? Teaching him to fetch and throwing that ball until he's exhausted. Do you know working with a dog on basic obedience 10-15 minutes a day is equivalent to an hour of exercise? Exercising their brain, exhausts their body!   Below is a note from Twix’s foster.  “Twix is a goofy, friendly, gorgeous, and all around awesome lab! He is the best of the breed for those who love them. Looking for a hiking or running buddy? Twix is waiting with his leash at the door! Looking for a cuddle buddy/weighted blanket after a day of adventures? Twix is waiting on the couch for you to bring the snacks! Twix is super smart and has already learned a few tricks. What a good boy! He is very food motivated and has shown an eagerness to learn alongside his foster brothers. Twix will be your best and most loyal friend if you adopt him, and with a face as cute as his, how could you resist?  Twix wakes up around 7 AM and goes outside to potty. He sniffs around for a bit as he checks out his turf before coming inside for breakfast. After his morning meal, he takes a short nap before his morning walk. After his walk, he naps and spends time playing with his foster brothers. He spends his afternoon snoozing the day away, occasionally getting up to play with his mountain of toys. He gets dinner at 5 PM and then gets another long walk. He heads to bed at 10 PM and gets ready for another day of adventure ahead!  Twix loves his walks and adores the outdoors. Like a typical lab, he has a lot of energy to burn, so an active family would be a perfect fit for him. Twix would do well in an active home to ensure he goes to bed a tired and happy dog. He would love to join a home where he can integrate into family activities. Twix is being fostered with a large breed younger dog as well as small puppies. He plays well with them all. This dude can’t wait to make his forever home the luckiest home in the world once they adopt him.”   Twix is an option for a home that has dog experience and a large breed dog experience is a bonus. Interested homes must demonstrate a plan and commitment for continued training to ensure Twix continues maturing into the awesome boy he has shown himself to be. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.April 25, 2024, 1:42 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Pickles is a 1 year old Poodle x Corgi mix who is dill-igently looking for his forever pickle jar home! This 17 pound handsome dude came to us from the shelter and boy has he brightened up our lives since! Pickles has a fantastic body shape that only a mixed breed rescue dog could produce. Looking for a long and low body with a poodle coat? You’ve found your man! Pickles will require regular grooming and we will be looking for a home who is prepared for coat maintenance. Pickles can’t wait to crunch into life with you!    Pickles is a handsome, friendly, fun-loving dude who can’t wait to find his next adventure! Pickles adores his toys almost as much as he loves tanning in the backyard, and really what more could you want in a pup! He loves his people and wants to follow you to the ends of the earth. Pickles leans towards the lazier side of life but still can get his zoomies on every so often! He has short stubby legs that provide endless amusement as he hops around the yard and house. He’s a character without even trying. He’s the kind of guy who is excited for a long walk, but equally as excited for the long nap he will get afterwards. Pickles is the kind of companion that you will be so excited to come home to at the end of the day or cuddle throughout the day if you work from home. This lovable hunk of dog is just the best (and his handsome face sure doesn’t hurt).  Pickles starts his morning at 6:30 AM with a trip to the backyard for a potty and zoomies session. He then comes back inside for a long nap (it’s hard being a dog) before he enjoys breakfast. After some playtime outside, he gets a 60 minute walk around the neighborhood where he greets his doggy friends and sniffs all the good smells. In the afternoon, he spends time playing with the resident dog, his pile of toys, and anything else he discovers. Pickles also loves sunbathing in the backyard and can get his tan on for hours at a time, as long as you remind him to flip over! In the afternoon, he gets another shorter walk before he has dinner at 6:30 PM. In the evening, Pickles plays with his toys before hopping up on the couch for some snuggles. After one last potty trip. he heads to bed in his crate around 10 where he dreams of dancing treats!  Pickles gets along very well with dogs of all ages and sizes and would thrive as either a solo dog or as a companion to a resident pup. Pickles walks very well on a leash and loves checking out the neighborhood sights and smells. Pickles can’t wait to hop his way through life with his lucky forever home!    Pickles could be an option for homes without prior dog experience, as long as they provide a plan for continued training and grooming. Kids in the home should be over the age of 7.April 25, 2024, 1:42 pm
