Story
Maui is a beautiful, sweet, and silly 100lb Double Doodle (her wisdom panel shows 45% Labrador Retriever, 32% Golden Retriever, 22% Poodle, and 1% Flat-Coated Retriever). She came to SPAR facing life and death, having to undergo her second gastrointestinal surgery. She luckily pulled through the surgery and the weeks of recovery. She had previously had a foreign body removal 6 months prior as a puppy. Maui is looking for a special home. Having already used two (or more) of her spare lives, her body cannot afford another foreign body removal or gastrointestinal surgery. She cannot have access to any toys or anything left out she can chew on (blankets, dog beds, her leash, plastic dog bowls, etc). She sleeps in her kennel at night and is great around other dogs of all sizes. She is learning about cats in her current foster home and might be okay around dog-savvy cats. She would be okay in a home with older kids that understand the safety concerns of leaving things out where Maui can get into them. She has decent leash manners and enjoys going on walks. She is very smart and would love to take additional obedience classes to bond more with her new family. Maui also has already had an incisional gastropexy, so no future risks of GDV, or “bloat”. If you are interested in meeting Maui, please complete the adoption application. We go through a multi-step process for our dogs that includes meeting at the fosters home, a home inspection, and reference checks.

Story
Coco is 4 years young. We love her! She’s a sweet loving pet. Watching TV, she will come and sit or lie next to you or lay on your lap. She loves to play ball, toss it and she will retrieve it. She also plays catch. She rings the jingle bell hanging from the door knob when she needs to out to pee . . . she responds to the commands “go to bed” “Coco come here,” “SIT, “DOWN,” “OFF.” Unfortunately, we’ve learned that dogs need attention and daily walks/exercise and we don’t have time to give her what she needs. In a new home, we are looking a family that can take her on daily walks, play with her and give her the time she needs. Ideally a family with kids that will play with her often but a family with adults can also work well. Coco does not shed hair and must go for grooming every 2 months or she will look like a bear with eyes covered. Watching TV she growls, sometimes barks at animals but is learning not to. She gets nervous and growls/barks when dogs and animals come near her.

Story
Someone I knew wanted to surrender him to a shelter, I grew to love him and decided to foster him, but I have 3 other dogs and a cat and now a kid on the way, I don't have enough space for him and haven’t been lucky enough to find a good owner for him. He is the BIGGEST lover boy and would never hurt a fly. He is a gentle giant, but since hes still young he gets a little excited. He has been around kids and cats and other dogs his whole life and loves everyone. Like I said he gets a little excited and might scare away a cat, but would never bite or attack anyone or anything. If I could keep him I really would but all my other animals have anxiety and have had them forever, he would be the best to adjust to a new home as he is very easily adjusted. He loves EVERYONE.

Story
Toffee Rose is a very sweet dog with adults (she has not been exposed to children). She is crate trained, potty trained, leash trained, and she is quiet (rarely barks). She is OK around other pets but has moderate resource guarding behavior/possession aggression so she would do best being in an independent home without other dogs as well as cats. She really enjoys her walks but also loves being a couch potato.

Story
Rex, neutered male, 2 year 6 months, 31-Lbs. If you would like to give REX a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application About Rex: Rex is a handsome young pup with pleasant personality, he is mellow and friendly by nature. He adapted and thrived quickly in foster care. Being friendly, affectionate, and aimed to please, he can easily befriend strangers and kids; also gets along well with dogs and cats as well. His favorite pastime is hanging out with doggie play pals in the park, car riding and his daily walks. Rex would be a great candidate for any type of family who is looking for a loyal and loving companion pet. Rex’s rescue story: Rex has been wandering in a park for a while before a dog lover noticed him then gave him food. The dog lover is an expatriate in Taiwan who already has dogs at home therefore has no space for Rex. All she can do is to offer food and find support to help Rex. We responded to the request and take Rex into our adoption program. We suppose that Rex used to be a family dog since he is very close to humans, but unfortunately got abandoned. Rex was placed with a foster home after a complete health check. Rex received a clean bill of health and is patiently waiting for his 2nd chance to join his forever home.
