Story
We urgently need an adopter for our bonded pair, Caesar and Duggar, so that they can remain together. We understand that it can be challenging to ask for a home for a bonded pair, but they are very attached to each other. If you would like to learn more or are willing to welcome these boys while we look for a forever home, please let us know. We are happy to drive from SLO to the California-Oregon border and Western Nevada. Caesar is a nine-year-old, 85lb. A labradoodle who acts like a three-year-old, and Duggar, an 80-pound. 3-year-old Golden Retriever, and a total lovebug. They lived with an older man who moved into assisted living due to his health, so they have been primarily indoor dogs without the opportunity to get out much. When new people visit, they are initially excited due to their limited exposure, but they soon calm down. Caesar can be an escape artist, so you must be careful when opening doors. Caesar's labradoodle coat is straightforward to manage and can be groomed with thinning shears. We have not had to groom him professionally. Medical Both are current on their medical care, and Duggar was recently neutered and is doing well. We managed to get 15 lbs. off Caesar, now weighing 85 lbs. Both dogs were used to people's food and held out for the table scraps. Caesar receives a tsp of something with medications. Caesar is on phenobarbital 2 x daily, which Norcal will supply. He has only had three seizures since 2022 and has not experienced any seizures since coming into rescue. We believe it may be worth weaning him off the phenobarbital and onto another drug like Keppra, but we do not want to do that until we find a forever home. Both are on Flea and Tick, although Caesar is on Revolution as a precaution for the seizures. Behavior Caesar can be very mouthy and jumpy, so maybe not suitable for young kids. Both dogs get along with other dogs but have no experience with cats. They have been in three different foster homes, and two of the fosters walked them regularly. Once they adjusted to the leash, they enjoyed the activity. Sleep in crates at night, but could adapt out of the crates after the adjustment period. We will provide all supplies, including crates. Potty trained. Limited other training, but do enjoy working on commands.

Story
Maui is a beautiful, sweet, and silly 100lb Double Doodle (her wisdom panel shows 45% Labrador Retriever, 32% Golden Retriever, 22% Poodle, and 1% Flat-Coated Retriever). She came to SPAR facing life and death, having to undergo her second gastrointestinal surgery. She luckily pulled through the surgery and the weeks of recovery. She had previously had a foreign body removal 6 months prior as a puppy. Maui is looking for a special home. Having already used two (or more) of her spare lives, her body cannot afford another foreign body removal or gastrointestinal surgery. She cannot have access to any toys or anything left out she can chew on (blankets, dog beds, her leash, plastic dog bowls, etc). She sleeps in her kennel at night and is great around other dogs of all sizes. She is learning about cats in her current foster home and might be okay around dog-savvy cats. She would be okay in a home with older kids that understand the safety concerns of leaving things out where Maui can get into them. She has decent leash manners and enjoys going on walks. She is very smart and would love to take additional obedience classes to bond more with her new family. Maui also has already had an incisional gastropexy, so no future risks of GDV, or “bloat”. If you are interested in meeting Maui, please complete the adoption application. We go through a multi-step process for our dogs that includes meeting at the fosters home, a home inspection, and reference checks.

Story
Rehoming this sweet boy, he is about 3 years old, up to date on all shots and microchipped, completely potty trained and will cry at the door when he has to do his business, gets along with other dogs, not great with cats but he can coexist with them, he knows basic commands and does well on a leash for the most part, does well with kids but loves licking faces and tends to jump up on people so he could use some training to fix this problem considering his size. Hes a pretty smart dog and could definitely benefit from more training. Im rehoming him because my living and working situation has changed drastically which doesn’t leave me with enough time to care for him like I should and unfortunately results in him spending his days alone. Feel free to message me if you have any questions! * He comes with his cage(its pretty big btw), collar, harness, leash, food and water bowls, bag of food, and his blankets*

Story
I adopted Wrigley 7 years ago from an agency that rescues dogs from Taiwan. He was 5 months old when I got him. He has been the best dog i could ask for. Hes my best friend and it pains me to have to do this. But recently Wrigley has displayed aggressive behavior towards my toddler. Wrigley is a funny dog. He snores. Drinks water like its his last time splashing it everywhere and gets random shoe in the house to greet you at the door. Hes got a lot of energy. Loves walks. Not a fan of cats, squirrels or raccoons. Hes a protective dog and loves to give kisses.

Story
Hello! We are giving away our 12 month old puppy! She is very sweet, playful, and loving. She loves to go on walks and is great with other dogs. She has all her shots up to date, and is spayed. The reason we are giving her away is because we can no longer take care of her, as we have a family member with special needs. She needs someone that can give her all the care and attention she needs. There is no adoption fee, we just wish for her to go to a new loving home!
