Story
*Note: Currently, Shoushou is in Korea, but will be arriving in San Francisco once adopted. For more info about Shoushou or to submit your adoption application, please click here.BackgroundShoushou’s rescue story is a heartbreaking one. He lived with four other dogs in a home in Paju, Korea. One day, we received a call from someone who turned out to be a close friend of his owner. Tragically, Shoushou’s owner had chosen to end his life, leaving the dogs behind with no one to care for them. Other rescue groups stepped in to save the smaller dogs, but Shoushou was left behind. That’s when we were asked to help, and he joined our partner shelter in the spring of 2026.When Shoushou arrived, he had been living in complete neglect. He weighed nearly 45 kg and was severely overweight. With proper care, a healthy diet, and regular exercise, he has safely lost 10 kg and now maintains a healthy weight of 35 kg. Most importantly, he has regained his beautiful smile and is finally ready to find the loving family he deserves.Personality and SocializationShoushou is everything people love about Labradors. Gentle, affectionate, and endlessly friendly, he has never met a stranger. He loves people and enjoys being included in whatever his family is doing. Whether it’s going for a walk, relaxing at home, or simply spending time together, Shoushou is happiest by your side.He has a medium energy level and enjoys a nice balance of outdoor adventures and quiet time at home. Shoushou gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He previously lived with small breeds, including Yorkies and Poodles, and has always been gentle and respectful with them. While he isn’t overly interested in making friends with every dog he meets, he enjoys dogs that like to run and play together. He has not been tested with cats, but based on his calm and easygoing nature, we believe he has the potential to live peacefully with one after a proper introduction.BehavioursShoushou is an easy dog to live with. He rarely barks, is not destructive, rides calmly in the car, behaves well at the veterinary clinic, enjoys bath time, and walks nicely on leash. He is also fully house-trained and prefers to do his business outdoors. He has shown no signs of separation anxiety and is generally a confident, relaxed dog.One thing his future family should know is that Shoushou gets very excited when it’s time to go outside. He may try to dash through an open door, not because he wants to run away, but simply because he’s eager for his walk. As with any large dog, it’s important to be mindful when opening doors or gates. He also has a habit of occasionally trying to mount people he finds easygoing. This behavior is easily managed with a calm, firm correction, and once corrected, he quickly learns not to repeat it with that person. Like many Labs, Shoushou absolutely loves water. More than anything, though, he simply wants to be close to his people.Health and DietShoushou is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and fully vaccinated.Shortly after arriving at our partner shelter, an unfortunate accident occurred. As a kennel door was being opened, Shoushou became excited and suddenly bolted outside. Several dogs were playing in the yard at the time, and when they saw an unfamiliar new dog running toward them, they became overstimulated and attacked him. Shoushou required surgery to repair multiple wounds. Today, Shoushou has made a full recovery and is healthy, happy, and ready for his forever home.He eats dry kibble twice a day and has no known allergies.Ideal HomeShoushou would thrive with a family that enjoys a peaceful lifestyle and wants a loyal companion to share everyday life with. Someone who works from home, is retired, or simply has plenty of time to spend with him would be an ideal match. He also loves being outdoors and would enjoy regular walks, hikes, or trips to the lake. After losing his family so suddenly, Shoushou has no way of understanding why his world changed overnight. Now all he wants is a place where he will be loved, cherished, and never have to worry about being left behind again. In return, he will give his family exactly what Labradors are known for a lifetime of unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and a heart full of joy.

Story
‍ Ram: The Shy Pirate with a Golden Heart Looking for: A patient, loving family ready to help a gentle soul blossom. This gorgeous fellow is our resident "shy pirate"—complete with an adorable, slightly crooked tooth that gives him the most charming, endearing smirk you’ve ever seen. Ram is a gentle, sensitive 3-year-old Miniature Poodle/Terrier mix who weighs around 15 pounds. He is currently finding his footing and learning how to be a confident pup. While the big wide world can still feel a little overwhelming to him right now, his incredibly sweet nature shines through the moment he feels safe. His Perfect Match Canine Companion Wanted: Ram absolutely thrives in the company of other dogs and uses their confidence to help build his own. If you have another friendly dog at home to show him the ropes, Ram will settle in much faster! Foodie at Heart: The ultimate way to this pirate’s heart? Delicious food! Ram is incredibly food-motivated, which makes training him with positive reinforcement an absolute dream. A Patient Crew: Ram needs a peaceful home with a patient family who understands that the best things take time. With a gentle approach, Ram will reward your love with a lifetime of loyalty and quiet affection. He is ready to set sail on his next great adventure—could it be with you? Ram has stayed at 3+ foster families home and has proven to be polite, a bit timid, and generally a houseguest who keeps up with whatever the resident dogs are up to. Ram's Routine: Morning walk (he is happy with a short or long walk based on what works for his family's morning routine) Breakfast (which he enjoys in his crate) He enjoys a midday potty break but it's not required Afternoon/evening walk (he loves for at least one of his walks to be longer/meandering so he can enjoy the smells of the neighborhood and build bonds with his pack!) Dinner (which he enjoys in his crate) A final potty break before bedtime; he knows his crate is for bedtime and mealtimes and is learning to go in on cue!   All dogs/puppies will be spayed/neutered unless spay/neuter contract is signed with additional deposit.
