Story
Parker is an affectionate, bright 11-month-old labradoodle looking for the right home to grow up in. He's smart, eager to learn, and is fully crate trained, potty trained, and is learning commands like sit, down, wait, and come. He thrives with calm leadership, structured walks, and time to rest after activity. Parker was surrendered by a loving owner preparing for a major life change. He’s now in a foster home, building confidence and learning boundaries. He sleeps well in his crate and is working on impulse control and overstimulation. He was recently neutered, is up to date on vaccines, and eats both dry and wet food. He’s being slowly introduced to cats and making progress with respecting their space. Parker would do best in a calm, structured home with patient owners and regular outdoor time. He's not a dog to leave bored he wants to be part of your rhythm and grow into his full potential.

Story
We urgently need an adopter for our bonded pair, Caesar and Duggar, so that they can remain together. We understand that it can be challenging to ask for a home for a bonded pair, but they are very attached to each other. If you would like to learn more or are willing to welcome these boys while we look for a forever home, please let us know. We are happy to drive from SLO to the California-Oregon border and Western Nevada. Caesar is a nine-year-old, 85lb. A labradoodle who acts like a three-year-old, and Duggar, an 80-pound. 3-year-old Golden Retriever, and a total lovebug. They lived with an older man who moved into assisted living due to his health, so they have been primarily indoor dogs without the opportunity to get out much. When new people visit, they are initially excited due to their limited exposure, but they soon calm down. Caesar can be an escape artist, so you must be careful when opening doors. Caesar's labradoodle coat is straightforward to manage and can be groomed with thinning shears. We have not had to groom him professionally. Medical Both are current on their medical care, and Duggar was recently neutered and is doing well. We managed to get 15 lbs. off Caesar, now weighing 85 lbs. Both dogs were used to people's food and held out for the table scraps. Caesar receives a tsp of something with medications. Caesar is on phenobarbital 2 x daily, which Norcal will supply. He has only had three seizures since 2022 and has not experienced any seizures since coming into rescue. We believe it may be worth weaning him off the phenobarbital and onto another drug like Keppra, but we do not want to do that until we find a forever home. Both are on Flea and Tick, although Caesar is on Revolution as a precaution for the seizures. Behavior Caesar can be very mouthy and jumpy, so maybe not suitable for young kids. Both dogs get along with other dogs but have no experience with cats. They have been in three different foster homes, and two of the fosters walked them regularly. Once they adjusted to the leash, they enjoyed the activity. Sleep in crates at night, but could adapt out of the crates after the adjustment period. We will provide all supplies, including crates. Potty trained. Limited other training, but do enjoy working on commands.

Story
Maui is a beautiful, sweet, and silly 100lb Double Doodle (her wisdom panel shows 45% Labrador Retriever, 32% Golden Retriever, 22% Poodle, and 1% Flat-Coated Retriever). She came to SPAR facing life and death, having to undergo her second gastrointestinal surgery. She luckily pulled through the surgery and the weeks of recovery. She had previously had a foreign body removal 6 months prior as a puppy. Maui is looking for a special home. Having already used two (or more) of her spare lives, her body cannot afford another foreign body removal or gastrointestinal surgery. She cannot have access to any toys or anything left out she can chew on (blankets, dog beds, her leash, plastic dog bowls, etc). She sleeps in her kennel at night and is great around other dogs of all sizes. She is learning about cats in her current foster home and might be okay around dog-savvy cats. She would be okay in a home with older kids that understand the safety concerns of leaving things out where Maui can get into them. She has decent leash manners and enjoys going on walks. She is very smart and would love to take additional obedience classes to bond more with her new family. Maui also has already had an incisional gastropexy, so no future risks of GDV, or “bloat”. If you are interested in meeting Maui, please complete the adoption application. We go through a multi-step process for our dogs that includes meeting at the fosters home, a home inspection, and reference checks.

Story
Elsa is a wonderful dog and companion. She is shy at first but warms up quickly. She wouldn't hurt a fly. She has been great with our 3 young kids. We potty trained and crate trained her. She will sleep in her crate for up to 10-12 hours at night with no accidents. She is 7 months old and weighs 42 lbs. She loves playing with her toys, fetch and bones. We really love her but didn't realize how busy we are and we think she deserves a family who can give her more attention and time. She would love another dog to play with.

Story
Louie was found back in March 2024 emaciated and terrified wandering the streets. After offering him food he allowed himself to be carried to his new foster home where he was treated for fleas ticks and worms. Since then he has been neutered chipped and vaccinated. Although he is slow to trust new people and situations he has opened up so much and is such a goofy sweet and funny guy. He loves playing with his toys and his ideal day is to just be at home with his foster people and their dogs. He absolutely loves other dogs big and small! He knows sit stay come here go lay down and give me kisses. He's potty trained and kennel trained (he has been known to get into a bit of puppy mischief when left unsupervised for extended periods of time). We are working on building his confidence in public because due to his early trauma from life on the streets and most likely abuse/neglect from humans he can get very nervous/shy in unfamiliar settings especially loud situations. He does love routine riding in the car and tends to do pretty well on hikes/beach adventures. When he was found he was 15 lbs and now is 45 lbs. He hasn't gotten much taller (he's kind of short and long) and isn't expected to. We think he is around 8 months old now and probably a lab/pit/? mix. Although he hasn't had direct contact with kids or cats he doesn't react when passing on walks. He does take a few days to trust new people and tends to vocalize his insecurity but is a pretty quick learner and shows no signs of aggression of any kind. With a calm environment and some patience there is no doubt that Louie will make a warm addition to his new household! We are helping Louie's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with his current guardian.November 4, 2024, 2:12 pm

Story
Arthur is a goofy happy six-year-old dog. We think he is a mix between a labrador and a short breed like a Basset hound or Corgi but we're not entirely sure. We adopted him as a puppy after he was found as a stray. Arthur loves being outside. He enjoys playing fetch with a tennis ball in our backyard going on long walks and swimming in streams. He likes to sleep on his fuzzy bed or build a pillow nest on the couch. He spends most of his day lounging and making himself comfortable around the house. He is house trained knows standard commands and is easily teachable with treats. Arthur likes his space to be respected and will do best in a home with no other animals and no children. We made the heartbreaking decision to re-home Arthur because he is anxious and reactive around our baby. Arthur has no bite history but the unpredictable sounds and movements of our baby make him uncomfortable. We love Arthur and we want him to have a family where he can feel at ease. We are helping Arthur's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. Parker is a bright affectionate 11-month-old labradoodle who is looking for the right home to grow up in. He is smart eager to learn and doing well with crate training potty training and basic commands like sit down wait and come. Parker thrives with structure and responds well to calm leadership. He enjoys long walks playtime in open areas and structured fetch sessions. He’s curious about the world and benefits from a routine that includes both exercise and rest. Parker originally lived with a loving owner who recently became pregnant and could no longer manage his needs while preparing for a major life transition. He’s currently in a foster home where he is continuing to build confidence learn boundaries and settle into a reliable routine. At home Parker does best in a quiet environment where he can decompress after activity. Parker is crate trained and sleeps well through the night in his crate. He thrives when you allow him to decompress after an exciting walk or trip to the park.
