Story
We got him from the Humane society at 9 weeks and all we know about him is that he bit his originally owners kids when he was 6 weeks. We were told that he would be calm and okay with our cats but after getting him and countless training he has not changed and we can no longer appease his needs. He needs a lot of close time with someone who can correct his behaviors. Milo is a very sweet dog he just has a lot of energy and gets a head of himself all the time a back yard and other dogs would be better for him. He loves people he loves other dogs.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddly PalRodrick is a 45lb Lab/Weimaraner mix. Rodrick is such a sweet pal of a dog! He loves playing with his 4-legged sister, watching sports while snuggling on the couch, taking walks in the neighborhood and local parks, long car rides, and hanging out while his foster dad works on his computer.   He has learned that "Sit" is a great default position and he is working on learning his name for recall as well as "Place" and "Down". Rodrick is an enthusiastic learner and shines as he strives to please his human friends!   We do not know why Rodrick landed in the shelter, but he is still learning to be trusting of the world and of strangers. Moments of chaos or surprising appearances of unknown people are very stressful for Rodrick. While on leash he is also unsure about other dogs, bicycles, skateboards or runners. He is working with his foster dad and a trainer to work on his reactivity and learn to trust new people and has made good progress in the past month.   Rodrick is seeking a home where there is some predictability and a calm environment. He connects deeply with a few people, and needs slow introductions to new people. SVPP is working with a trainer and helping Rodrick to learn that he can be safe when the unexpected happens. Continuing training support will be provided to his adopter. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetprojectVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 1:27 pm

Story
I wanted to adopt Tasha but am instead fostering her for a while so she can find a new loving home. Unfortunately, her original rescue family had a dog who did not like her and she could not stay there. She is extremely sweet and loves to cuddle and play with toys. She is very gentle with toys and does not destroy them. She loves affection and to be hugged and cuddled. She is fine having her paws and teeth touched and can be picked up as well. Tasha would do best with someone who can allow her a safe outside space to play in or has a good indoor space for activity. She enjoys tossing her toys into the air and trying to catch them again, it’s very adorable. Although she would love to cuddle in bed with you, she also has no issue sleeping in her crate by herself. She has a crate and a hammock and food that will come with her for her new home.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $700   Twix is a 1 year old purebred Chocolate Labrador Retriever who was rescued from the shelter. This gorgeous chocolate brown dude weighs 70 pounds and is just as perfect as can be! Twix was surrendered to the shelter because he “got too big” (even though he is a normal sized lab)! We sprung him out of his kennel and promised him a sugary sweet forever family ahead!  Now, like any young Lab, Twix is active and energetic. He needs a home that is prepared for his energy. Labs are puppies in adult bodies at least until they are 3 but let's get real, it's more like 4-5 years old. Now, he's a bundle of fun for sure. He just needs activities. Are you up for playdates? Dog beach? Dog parks? Running buddy? Teaching him to fetch and throwing that ball until he's exhausted. Do you know working with a dog on basic obedience 10-15 minutes a day is equivalent to an hour of exercise? Exercising their brain, exhausts their body!   Below is a note from Twix’s foster.  “Twix is a goofy, friendly, gorgeous, and all around awesome lab! He is the best of the breed for those who love them. Looking for a hiking or running buddy? Twix is waiting with his leash at the door! Looking for a cuddle buddy/weighted blanket after a day of adventures? Twix is waiting on the couch for you to bring the snacks! Twix is super smart and has already learned a few tricks. What a good boy! He is very food motivated and has shown an eagerness to learn alongside his foster brothers. Twix will be your best and most loyal friend if you adopt him, and with a face as cute as his, how could you resist?  Twix wakes up around 7 AM and goes outside to potty. He sniffs around for a bit as he checks out his turf before coming inside for breakfast. After his morning meal, he takes a short nap before his morning walk. After his walk, he naps and spends time playing with his foster brothers. He spends his afternoon snoozing the day away, occasionally getting up to play with his mountain of toys. He gets dinner at 5 PM and then gets another long walk. He heads to bed at 10 PM and gets ready for another day of adventure ahead!  Twix loves his walks and adores the outdoors. Like a typical lab, he has a lot of energy to burn, so an active family would be a perfect fit for him. Twix would do well in an active home to ensure he goes to bed a tired and happy dog. He would love to join a home where he can integrate into family activities. Twix is being fostered with a large breed younger dog as well as small puppies. He plays well with them all. This dude can’t wait to make his forever home the luckiest home in the world once they adopt him.”   Twix is an option for a home that has dog experience and a large breed dog experience is a bonus. Interested homes must demonstrate a plan and commitment for continued training to ensure Twix continues maturing into the awesome boy he has shown himself to be. Kids in the home should be over the age of 8.April 26, 2024, 9:10 pm
