Story
Have you ever heard of a dog being abandoned at a doggie day care? Well, that's my story. I have no idea why, I'm fun, playful, get along with everyone. I'm still a puppy, so I have a lot to learn and I'm probably still growing a bit, but I'm very content to hang out and get cuddles and love, so I hope you'll meet me, fall in love with me, and adopt me. If you are interested in meeting Buttercup, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. [Buttercup is about 8 months old and weighs 25 lbs.] (2512)

Story
Teddy is a beautiful, 2 year old, 38 lb. male labradoodle w' a somewhat sad history. 6 months ago he was found by animal control abandoned on the streets of Bakersfield. We have been his guardians since. Teddy is healthy, playful, house-broken, a good eater, not food aggressive, obedient, loves sleeping in his crate, is sweet & craves affection. Has had a lot of training & obeys the basics. Full disclosure: From his trauma, he is afraid of other dogs & can be reactive w' people – nipping & sometimes biting because he is anxious & insecure, but has proven to do great & not have these behavior problems in structured environments i.e. the ranch when we're away & in training sessions. Teddy needs strong leadership & structure; someone willing to work w' him to build his confidence. A patient, experienced dog person with a pack mentality. He has great potential w' the right person. Our amazing trainer Brett Endes, “Dog Savant” has offered to assist in the transition at no charge.

Story
*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Drake is loving life in his foster home, but now it’s time for him to find his furever family… We rescued Drake back in 2020. He is a 7 year old pup now and we guess he is a labradoodle mix. He was adopted a few years ago but recently, instead of contacting us to surrender the Drake back to us when they were unable to keep him, the adopter brought him to the shelter. Not only did they bring him to the shelter, they told the shelter to EUTHANIZE HIM!! Why? Because he is reactive/ doesn’t get along with small dogs, something they knew when they adopted him. Thankfully we were notified and able to get him back into our care quickly. He has been doing so well in foster and deserves to finally find the right people. Drake is a big boy (100+ pounds, but does need to lose some weight) and loves cuddles. He greatly enjoys long walks and car rides. He is super smart and food motivated. Drake is a go with the flow dude who just wants people to love. He would be best as the only animal in the home and with people committed to managing his reactivity. He is very easy to redirect with treats and will thrive with the right people. Drake is currently being fostered in Santa Monica, California area but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. *PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org . Drake's adoption fee is $400*

Story
Due to the loss of my husband, personal health issues, and having had to move into a 12x10 room, I don’t have the room or ability to exercise my lab-Anatolian shepherd mix. He is house trained, good on a leash, good with cats and children. He doesn’t like some dogs, for a shepherd and two small Chihuahuas have attacked him while we were walking in our front yard. He is fine with my mini-Aussie who is older and I can exercise by throwing a ball. I rescued Chase, back in November 2020, he was estimated to be 9 months old, he was very fearful: water, loud noises, brushing, hugs, raising of the hand, etc. I have been able to get him over most of his fears except bathes, and other dogs. When the chihuahua attacked him, he caught it in his mouth, and when the owner screamed for him to drop it, he did, not a mark on the dog( this is per the owner). The vet says he should be worked with to desensitize him and then he will be great. He is very loving!

Story
Frisco and his brother Gillian were rescued from the shelter just in time before they were scheduled to be euthanized. They were so sweet and happy to be saved, instantly showing their gratitude with wagging tails and loving hearts. Frisco is now a happy, energetic boy with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. This handsome Retriever/Lab mix is the perfect blend of playful and affectionate—he’ll chase toys in the yard one minute and curl up in your lap the next. Bursting with energy, but calms down for attention and quiet petting. He is also great with other dogs. Frisco absolutely lives for walks, treats, and splashing in the water—swimming is his favorite thing in the world! With his loyal spirit and cuddly nature, Frisco is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds and just wants to be part of a loving family. Frisco has the personality and disposition of a golden retriever. He will be easily housetrained because he goes in and out of the house. If you have a big yard, a big heart, and maybe a pool or a hose to play in, Frisco might just be your perfect match. He’s ready to give his whole heart to his forever home. Frisco is currently being fostered in San Bernadino County and must be picked up from there.
