Story
Meet Jax: The Resilient Sweetheart Who is Ready to Be Wanted!Name: JaxAge: 7 Months oldWeight: 47 lbs (Growing into a big, majestic boy!)Breed: Irish Wolfhound & Labradoodle MixMedical: Neutered, healthy, and ready for adoptionPersonality: Absolute sweetheart, resilient, forgiving, and incredibly social Jax's Story: From an Afterthought to a Cherished CompanionJax started his life as a tiny baby puppy bought by his previous family as a Christmas present. Unfortunately, when the novelty wore off and the family prepared to move, they tried to turn him into a local shelter. When the shelter had no room to take him, they drove back and simply abandoned himleaving him entirely on his own.But here is the most amazing thing about Jax: he doesn't look back. Despite being treated like a disposable gift, Jax hasn't lost an ounce of his sweetness. He is a blank slate, full of forgiveness, and he is ready to find a true forever family that understands adoption is a lifetime promise, not a seasonal trend. Jax's Best QualitiesHighly Trainable: He is incredibly food and attention-motivated, making him an absolute dream to train with positive reinforcement!Incredibly Forgiving: Despite everything, he greets every single person with a wagging tail and an open heart.Animal Friendly: Jax thinks every dog and cat is a potential best friend and does great with other animals.Total Sweetheart: He is a massive cuddler who loves to lean his big body against you for affection.A Majestic Mix: With his unique Irish Wolfhound and Labradoodle heritage, he is going to be a stunning, large companion. What Jax Is Working OnJax is a young puppy who simply needs someone to invest time in him. Because he will be a very big boy, learning good manners now is essential. His high drive for treats and praise means he will pick up these skills quickly:Leash Manners: Learning to walk nicely on a leash before he gets bigger and stronger.Good Boundaries: Remembering to keep all four paws on the floor when he gets excited to see you.Basic Commands: Practicing puppy basics like sit, stay, and down. Jax's Ideal HomeA True Commitment: A family who understands that a dog is a family member for life.Large Breed Lovers: Owners who love big dogs and have the space for a growing boy.Patient Guides: People who are excited to use treats and affection to guide Jax through puppy training classes. Story
*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Drake is loving life in his foster home, but now it’s time for him to find his furever family… We rescued Drake back in 2020. He is a 7 year old pup now and we guess he is a labradoodle mix. He was adopted a few years ago but recently, instead of contacting us to surrender the Drake back to us when they were unable to keep him, the adopter brought him to the shelter. Not only did they bring him to the shelter, they told the shelter to EUTHANIZE HIM!! Why? Because he is reactive/ doesn’t get along with small dogs, something they knew when they adopted him. Thankfully we were notified and able to get him back into our care quickly. He has been doing so well in foster and deserves to finally find the right people. Drake is a big boy (100+ pounds, but does need to lose some weight) and loves cuddles. He greatly enjoys long walks and car rides. He is super smart and food motivated. Drake is a go with the flow dude who just wants people to love. He would be best as the only animal in the home and with people committed to managing his reactivity. He is very easy to redirect with treats and will thrive with the right people. Drake is currently being fostered in Santa Monica, California area but can be adopted anywhere as long as you can come to SoCal and drive home. *PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org . Drake's adoption fee is $400*
