*PLEASE NOTE: The first step in the process is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * Drake is loving life in his foster home, but now it’s time for him to find his furever family… We rescued Drake back in 2020. He is a 7 year old pup now and we guess he is a labradoodle mix. He was adopted a few years ago but recently, instead of contacting us to surrender the Drake back to us when they were unable to keep him, the adopter brought him to the shelter. Not only did they bring him to the shelter, they told the shelter to EUTHANIZE HIM!! Why? Because he is reactive/ doesn’t get along with small dogs, something they knew when they adopted him. Thankfully we were notified and able to get him back into our care quickly. He has been doing so well in foster and deserves to finally find the right people. Drake is a big boy (100+ pounds, but does need to lose some weight) and loves cuddles. He greatly enjoys long walks and car rides. He is super smart and food motivated. Drake is a go with the flow dude who just wants people to love. He would be best as the only animal in the home and with people committed to managing his reactivity. He is very easy to redirect with treats and will thrive with the right people. Thirteen-year-old Buster is a very energetic dog for his age. This 10-pound poodle loves walks and enjoys attention but at the same time likes to have his space. Buster is playful and does well with other dogs, but he doesn't like other dogs to play rough with him. Buster prefers being inside the house with his family; he goes outside to go on walks or to do his business in the yard. Buster doesn't really bark much unless he is startled or if other dogs are rough playing with him, but he also occasionally barks when he is being playful himself. Buster sleeps quietly through the night inside a crate. Buster has mature cataracts, so his vision is significantly impaired. He sees shadows during the day and can maneuver throughout his foster home without bumping into anything, but at night, he does bump into things. Because of his disability, Buster will require patience while he adjusts to a new home and learns to trust his new person.
