She enjoys a good game of tag or wrestling with her best dog friend. Cats: No cats Roxy is a sweet, lab girl who loves attention from our volunteers. She likes to be outdoors with her best dog friend, wrestling and playing, no matter the weather! Roxy also enjoys walks at the park with volunteers. Roxy is house trained and crate trained. Roxy knows how to sit and heel and is working on stay. She is currently enrolled in weekly training classes. Roxy is an insecure girl who displays her insecurity by reacting. She's smart and eager to please. -- We do not adopt on a first-come-first-serve basis, but rather by the best match between dog and family, although we will factor in the order of applications if there are equally good matches. Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $450 which covers the costs of vetting (spay, vaccinations, heartworm testing, preventatives while in our care, deworming and microchip) and any boarding or transport fees incurred in each dog's rescue. Senior dogs are $250.

We have some great videos of NOVA! Email storkwoods@comcast.net to get those sent to you! There are a lot of dogs that look like Nova but truly only one that looks like Nova and is as amazing as she is….but of course we are bias! Nova is about 5 years old and is a spayed female. She is very loved in her current home but her family is getting custody of a small child who is allergic to dogs so all of their fur babies have to find new homes. She is used to hanging out with teenagers and chilling but really shines when she is outside catching a frisbee or a ball mid air. She is super athletic even though she is about 65 pounds. If she was a male her name would be Michael Jordan. She has mad catching skills and is entertaining to watch as she really puts on a show! Who doesn’t love a dog that is super cool that can catch a frisbee in the air at full speed?!! We definitely want to find her a home with a fenced in yard so she can enjoy this activity. Nova has always had other furry friends to hang with and right now her big buddy is a 15 year old 10 pound poodle. Since she gains so much confidence from other dogs we would like her to be in a home with another dog. Nova is a love bug and really appreciates life to its fullest. The little things just make her so happy. Going for a walk…..well you just made her tail go a hundred miles a minute. She is super social and loves the company of humans and dogs alike. We feel that Nova would not be at her fullest potential if she was left alone for 10-12 hours at a time. She has so much love and fun to share its a shame to waste it on being an “ evening” only pet. Nova is housetrained as well. If you think you could give this special gal an incredible home, the BEST way to begin is to EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET directly for an adoption application. We think you will love her! We have foster homes in several areas of the country. We do have transport available.

Story
Meet Percy: What a Lab This 2 1/2 year old lab has so much to offer an adopter. He is completely housetrained, doesn’t chew on anything, loves, loves, loves to swim and could be in a dock jumping competition, Percy is a fast learner and has some training under his belt as well. He knows “Go to your place” and “Wait” when feeding him or loading him in a vehicle. He knows sit as well. Percy is obsessed with a ball and will fetch it and bring it back to you for as long as your arm stays attached to your shoulder. Typical lab in that he loves to retrieve. He will calm down and lay by your feet and even sleep with you if allowed but doesn’t have to. He is also food motivated so it is pretty easy to keep him motivated to learn new things. As great as he is and friendly as he is, what you do need to know is that he has a strong prey drive which makes it nearly impossible to walk him on a leash. He will need a fenced in yard and some ball retrieving time each day to dispel his energy and need for stimulation. He is so strong and will pull even a large person down if he sees a squirrel or a bird. When he is at the dog park he runs full speed up to another dog with little regard to boundaries. This can be scary and triggering for some dogs. He’s not aggressive, just kind of a bull dozer. He gets so supercharged when outside that he goes on autopilot. Needless to say, his inside manners are much better than his outside manners but he LOVES to be outside. We think Percy will make an excellent dog for someone but that someone needs to be a confident dog owner who understands prey drive and an excitable type dog. If you would like to apply to adopt Percy which involves a meet and greet, the BEST way is to directly EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET for an application. We have foster homes in several areas of the country. We do have transport available.

Story
Meet Grady: Almost Starved to Death What a journey for Grady. He is SO lucky to be alive and we are blessed to have such a joyful dog in our program. Grady was basically dropped at a previous shelter location and was literally skin and bones. We were lucky to have a volunteer by chance at the same location who grabbed him and another dog and got them to safety and away from their crappy owner. As you can see, Grady was completely emaciated and we weren’t even sure how he was alive. Our rescue did extensive vetting to find out that the only thing wrong with him was that he was being starved. Fast forward a few weeks and he has gained over ten pounds and is playing and running now whereas before he could barely stand and keep his balance. It was so pitiful, yet through it all, he never lost his happy go lucky personality. Grady is easy to love and seems so grateful despite the fact that his human severely neglected him. We think he is about three years old. Grady is always happy, gets along with other dogs and loves to play with them. And he is super cuddly and will crawl into your arms for some loving. It’s hard to find anything negative about him except that he does have quite the hound bark when he starts playing that might not be the best for an apartment setting. We KNOW that Grady didn’t deserve the lack of care he received and we are intent on finding him a forever home……this time for the rest of his life! If you think this might be you, the best thing to do is EMAIL STORKWOODS@COMCAST.NET and request an application. This is the BEST was to begin! We have foster homes in several areas of the country. Transport is available.

Story
Hello everyone, Triumph here. I first met you back on July 9, 2023. I have been in foster care still waiting for my furever family. Meanwhile here, I have become house broke, doggy door trained, animal social, cats not advised for I will chase. I am so happy, loving my love, being brushed a little. Nothing makes me happier than curling up around your feet or laying close by so if I need to I can open my eyes and see you. I am crate trained, but right now I am acting like a defiant teenager, I am still a puppy. I love the water. I have not been around children but my foster parents think if they are pet savvy and have patience with me, we will become BFF. My ideal family would like to be outdoors, go hiking, be around the water (even a water sprinkler), patience for I am so worth it. I would dearly adore having you around with me constantly. Having a companion fur-sibling is a must, more the merrier.

Story
Hello y'all, my name is Denny. I was found running down the highway in traffic. I was so skinny, stinking like a skunk infested with fleas/ ticks and heartworms. That was then. The man who rescued me off of the highway brought me home. He had other dogs, goats, and children. I adored the children most. Then, a rescue was contacted to take care of me. These people are so nice. They spoil me rotten. It is like living in a dog park, going camping and just hanging out with them. I am housetrained, leash trained, crate trained (when I want to or when there is some super treat in there), and doggy door trained. I am not a barking sort of fellow. But, I am aware of my surroundings, watchful. I like to be snuggling, sitting (laying) next to you. If given a chance I would like to slowly sneak up into your lap to just hang out. I like to chase balls, not great at bringing them back (I am eager to please you). My ideal family would be active with walks/ hikes, being around the water or beach (I love the water), camping and just hanging out. I saw snow this last winter of 2023 and I loved it. I just could not get enough of it. .

Story
Hello world. My name is Lily Munster. I came into rescue when I was 6 weeks old. I came from a kill shelter. Myself and 4 other puppies were scheduled the next day to cross the rainbow bridge because of overcrowding. Thankfully this rescue stepped up and took all 5 of us babies. The other 4 who came with me have already been adopted. So, I wait. My foster mom said she thinks it is because I am a black dog.But boy, oh boy, I am a real character. I adore water. It can be the garden hose, a sprinkler, kiddie or dog pool, puddle of water, drinking water bowl, water you are throwing out of a cup, the shower, the water spicket connected to your house, well, you get the idea. My ideal family would like to be as active as me. Hiking, camping, playing in the ocean, lake, river or even your pool at home. I am a huge snuggler, having my hair brushed, helping you mow the grass (I'll follow behind you), and even helping you with your dinner, if you want.I am nervous when I first meet you. Please have patience for me to warm up. I am so worth the wait.I am house trained, leash trained, crate trained, doggy door trained. I live with many dogs here in foster care. My foster family thinks I would be a great companion to a young or old fur-sibling. I am ready to come home. It will be so fun.
