Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now and/or meet in a private meeting before May 10th, complete our adoption application HERE If not adopted beforehand, this dog will attend the Super Dog Adoption Event on May 10th at Waterfire Arts Center in Providence, RI. Learn more about this event and sign up for 10am Early Entry HERE Age: 1 year 8 Months (as of 4/29/25) Weight: 46 Lbs (as of 2/26/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped.   Meet this handsome hunk Padley! At a nice size of 45 lbs, his cute dumpling shaped ears and luscious tan fur makes him a stunner! He is playful with toys, dogs, and people once he gains trust. It will take some time to build that trust but once you do he is very loving.   He loves doing zoomies around the yard or going for a walk in his neighborhood or the park. He does have some prey drive with squirrels and bunnies but has not been cat tested. In the home, he is a dream. He has shown no signs of separation anxiety and is used to being left with two dog siblings for a standard 8–9-hour workday with no issue. He is non-destructive when left loose and enjoys window watching and snoozing on the couch but also crates well. He really loves a frozen stuffed Kong or a Benebone to chew on to keep him busy during the day. He is house trained and walks well on a leash. He loves having play dates with other dogs that come into the home/yard and does a mix of chase and wrestling.  He is less likely to play with new dogs in unfamiliar settings as this is too stressful for him. He has a moderate energy level and while he would enjoy a dog sibling(s) to help burn some energy he won’t need too much exercise as an only dog – tossing a ball and a walk or two a day should tucker him out! When he gets excited or wants attention, he can get a little mouthy – he could have some herding dog in him! But they are very gentle interactions. He can be fearful in new environments and meeting new people.   He will need an adopter that is willing to go at his pace. He should not be placed in a home with young children as they can be unpredictable and scary for him.  He is a really great and sweet dog for someone who lives a quiet lifestyle with not too many visitors over, or the same few visitors that he can adjust to.  He warms up more quickly to new women than men, but with time he will show progress.   He is currently being fostered in a moderately busy area of Rhode Island and is not fearful walking along busy roads or noisy areas but can be unsure when walking in people dense areas such as downtown main streets etc. He will likely never be a “brewery dog" as he is a true introvert!  He really loves to cuddle either on the couch or on the bed if he is allowed up, and knows several cues such as sit, down, paw, spin, stay, touch.  Medical Note: Padley is susceptible to ear infections and is currently being fed a non-chicken food and taking Apoquel to manage some allergy symptoms such as the ear infections and itchy eyes at times that tend to get worse at certain times of the year. It is possible that he will need to eventually be placed on a hypoallergenic food in the future. He is also currently prescribed an anxeity medication to help with his fear in new situations and when meeting new people in his foster home.   Think you could give Padley a quiet, loving home? Fill out an application today.  An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see  HERE  for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.
