Story
Meet Rocky! A gentle, timid, sensitive boy looking for a low traffic and serene environment to call home. Rocky is a fantastic dog, but he needs an adopter that is willing to go at his speed. He can be very nervous around new situations and new people, and he can take some extra time and patience to warm up. Once you are on his good side, he is an extremely affectionate dog that loves cuddling and attention. We are looking for Rocky to be the only pet in the home since he has had experiences with other dogs in the past that have made him nervous around them. He also has the urge to chase after small animals, so a home without cats or small animals would be best for him as well. Rocky will be a fantastic addition to a family that is looking for a loving, quiet and unassuming dog. If you are interested in Rocky, please call us here at (401)846-8276. You are welcome to stop by our Animal Care and Adoption Center here in Middletown, RI to meet with him at any time. Feel free to visit our website, www.potterleague.org, for more information on adopting from us.

Adoption Donation   $ 599 Located:  MS (Transportation costs included to the Northeast , plz ask for more details) Age: approx   3   years old Weight:  35  lbs.     He’s so sweet. Loves to ride in the car and on the golf cart. Hasn’t bothered my cats and has gotten along with my other dogs.   If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application on our website  www.fohari.org  and email my foster parent for more information:  friendsoha@yahoo.com Please verify the location and readiness of this dog with us.  Because we save lives from various locations through out the United States, some dogs may not be in New England yet, nor ready for immediate adoption.   Our adoption application can be found here: https://fohari.org/application/  Our Adoption Process:   Go to our website and select the animal you are interested in. ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt.  From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit.  If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. FOHARI.ORG will provide the animal with the basic vaccines, heart worm test and sterilization of dogs and cats before adoption if the age and current health of the animal permits. While FOHARI.ORG makes every effort to place only healthy animals, FOHARI.ORG cannot guarantee the health of any animal, and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred. Rescuer will provide information received from the veterinarian exam, observations on the temperament of the animal and a best guess of the breed. Friends of Homeless Animals Inc. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age: 10 months (as of 12/25/25) Weight: 49 lbs (as of 10/28/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Bee:  Sunshine in a Black Coat! Bee is a petite Boxer/Lab mix with the sweetest personality to match her striking good looks. This small black beauty has gorgeous golden eyes that shine with intensity and the most endearing little under-bite that makes her unforgettable. Still in that fun, goofy puppy stage, Bee has already shown she has the makings of a wonderful companion with her great house manners.  Play is her favorite language — she loves staging “wrestlemania” matches with other dog friends. She also has a softer side, happily digging through the toy box until she finds just the right stuffie, then prancing proudly through the house showing it off. Bee is also known for her enthusiastic greetings, showering both people and dogs with kisses as soon as she sees them.  She walks beautifully on a leash, settles well in her crate,  and is house trained. She loves cuddle time and has proven herself to be a wonderful house guest in her foster home. As playful as she is, she has been known to chase a cat or two and hasn't been observed with kids although would probably be fine with older children. Affectionate, playful, and endlessly entertaining, Bee would thrive in a home with another playful dog or an active family who will enjoy her joyful energy and loving spirit. She is ready to bring her mix of silliness, sweetness, and sunshine into her forever home. She will make an amazing addition to her lucky new family! Medical Note, 12/23/2025:  Bee is currently on exercise restriction following surgery for a luxating patella. She is slowly getting back to weightbearing and her foster home is doing gentle range of motion and massage.  To help prevent any re-injury during this recovery, Bee would be best placed into a home without other pets and she will also not be attending our adoption events; private meetings can be arranged with prescreened adopters!  Bee is great with other dogs and would love to have a playful canine buddy in her new home, but she needs this time to recover and get back on her feet.   An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website:   Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org)   **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2025, 10:02 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application   HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see   HERE Age:  8 yrs (as of 11/13/25) Weight: 48 lbs. (as of 11/13/25) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. A portion of Max's adoption donation has been sponsored by a generous donor. Meet Max Hip, a wonderfully patient, laid back, even-tempered older gentleman with all the qualities that make for an ideal house guest and chill companion.  Max is cool and calm, very well-behaved, affectionate, and a bit lazy but always happy for brief spells of play with humans and other dogs.  He especially loves fetch, tug-of-war and bitey-mouth. Max is excellent in the car and crate, and he is happy to meet new people and benefits from some gentle reminds to not jump up on guests.  Max is polite to cats but would prefer they leave him alone.  He is extremely friendly and has loved everyone he has met. He would do well as an only dog or with canine friends.  He really is a go with the flow type guy and would make someone a wonderful companion.  As a senior dog there are some minor things to consider. He recently had a mass removed from his hind leg (the surgery was curative) and the incision has healed beautifully.  He is missing some of his teeth so prefers softer food and treats. Max has also developed cataracts which have reduced his vision somewhat, so it might take him a bit longer to adjust and feel confident in his new home.   Medical Note: This dog has tested positive for exposure to ehrlichia. This does not mean that this dog had/has an active infection of ehrlichiosis, only that the dog was exposed or infected in the past. This dog is/has been asymptomatic while in SOS care and is being treated/has been treated preventatively with a 28-day course of doxycycline. This dog is ready for adoption, though may continue to test positive for exposure to ehrlichia for some time. Please see here for more information on ehrlichia, and please check with your vet before you apply to adopt this dog if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see   HERE   for more information about this.
