Story
Adam Dean is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! Adam is happiest when the snow is falling and good luck getting him to come back inside. This fun loving guy thrives with another playful dog to bring out his full personality and match his energy. He adores his people, lives for car adventures, and is ready to be your copilot through every season. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements. Adam is a really sweet boy!  At first he is slow to warm up but by the third day he was in his foster home he really opened up!  He loves to follow his humans around and lay next to them during the day.  He is good with people and has met kids at some of our adoption events.  He loves hanging out with the resident dogs and he'll lay and snuggle with them and enjoys playing with them too.  He hasn't been noted to resource guard.  He also isn't vocal.  He loves to be outside and run around in the yard.  He's not destructive but occasionally will start to nibble on his doggie bed.  He is easily redirected with a toy.  He is doing very well with housetraining and hasn't had any accidents yet.  He likes his crate and sleeps in it all night without crying.  He's food motivated so he should be easier to train.  Adam is great in the car and usually just takes a nap.  He isn't very high energy but does like to play with toys.  He will snuggle up with his foster humans on the couch at night before bed.  He would do best in a home that is willing to be patient with him while he gets comfortable and is looking for a chill laid back dog.  Adam will require another friendly confident dog in the home to continue to help him blossom!April 6, 2026, 11:37 am

Story
Meet Scout, a happy, well-adjusted boy who enjoys life and people and is eager to please. This handsome boy had a rough start to life. For the first year of his life, he was tied to a tree with very little human interaction or guidance. His family didn’t have the time or ability to train him, and his playful jumping unintentionally caused problems with their younger children. Thankfully, Scout was rescued from that situation and given the second chance he truly deserves. In his foster home, Scout has shown what a joyful, affectionate dog he truly is. He loves people and thrives on attention, playtime, and engagement. He does well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, especially with dogs that can match his energy and play style. He would do best in a home with active dog friends rather than older dogs or those who are reactive. Because of his enthusiasm and playfulness level, Scout is better suited for a home with older, dog-savvy children.Scout is a fairly quiet dog who isn’t much of a barker and is housetrained using a doggie door. While he doesn’t need to be crated, he is kennel trained and settles well. His favorite things include playing with toys, earning treats, and heading out for car rides—anything that lets him be part of the action and close to his people.Leash walking is Scout’s biggest work-in-progress, which is completely understandable given his past. He is learning that walks can be calm and enjoyable, and with kind, fear-free handling and positive reinforcement, he continues to improve. He’s currently using a Gentle Leader and has already learned to sit and heel fairly well, showing just how eager he is to learn when given patience and kindness.Scout is a loving, fun-spirited dog who has already overcome so much. He’s ready for a patient, understanding home that will continue building his confidence and helping him grow into the wonderful companion he’s meant to be. With love, guidance, and consistency, Scout will reward his forever family with unwavering loyalty, joyful energy, and endless tail wags.Name: ScoutBreed: Labrador RetrieverSex: MaleAge: 3 years  (estimated)Weight: 88.0Spayed/Neutered:  YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive, but treatment completed!Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:   Texas  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet Biscotti of the Greta Gang litter. This sweet girls mom, Greta, was found as a wandering stray in 12/2025. While in the shelter, she gave birth to her and her brothers, Bongo and Toots. These precious babies were then taken to a southern rescuers house and raised by their mama in a loving foster home. They are typical puppies who are currently thriving, enjoying being loved by all, full bellies, and lots of puppy playtime — with mom right by their side providing wonderful care. Now ready for adoption, along with mama (pictured in bio), we need to find them each a loving home.Name: BiscottiBreed: Black Labrador Retriever/Crossbreed ( DNA testing has not been done and therefore no guarantees are made with regard to this dog’s breed mix).Sex: FemaleAge: 13 weeks as of 3/27Weight: 10Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. We can provide adopters with a list of low-cost SN clinics when requested. The adoption fee also includes the transport fee when applicableATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for your benefit and your puppy's, so if you experience behavioral issues, you have a point of contact.  PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Story
Dreyfus truly is the total package — the kind of dog foster families secretly hope never leaves… and in his case, his foster mom will be the first to tell you he’s about as close to perfect as they come. 💛This handsome, smaller-sized Lab mix (right around 30 lbs) is the ideal “just right” dog — big enough for adventures, small enough to fit perfectly curled up beside you on the couch… or in your lap, if you don’t mind sharing your space with a professional snuggler.Dreyfus’s story hasn’t been without a few bumps. He was originally found in Mississippi with an injured paw, likely from a car encounter. Thankfully, nothing was broken, and with a little care and kindness, he healed beautifully — showing everyone just how resilient and easygoing he is.He was adopted and spent a couple of months in a home, but was recently returned through no fault of his own. While his adopter had initially committed to managing his known cardiac condition, it ultimately became something they were not comfortable with long-term. And so, this incredibly special boy is once again looking for the forever family he truly deserves. And what a dog he is…Dreyfus is:> Crate trained and well-mannered> Easy to live with — he just goes with the flow> Wonderful with other dogs> Absolutely fantastic with children (his foster’s granddaughter is his favorite human)> Loves his chew toys!> Rides well in the car> Affectionate without being demanding> The kind of dog who settles right into your life like he’s always belonged there> His foster family describes him as a dream — the dog everyone wishes for.MEDICAL ISSUE/CARDIAC:Dreyfus does have a moderate pulmonary valve stenosis (a heart condition), but here’s the important part: He has been evaluated by two cardiologists, and at this time:* No surgery is needed or expected* He is expected to live a normal, happy life if the condition remains stable; he can run and play like other dog but he should not be allowed to over-exert himself.* He simply requires routine monitoring (a follow-up echocardiogram every year)* He is on Atelenol medication daily - this is relatively inexpensive - 3 months is approx. $55.00While we would ask his adoptive family to cover the Cardiology consultations each year, Paws New England would provide financial support if/when a surgical interview is required. Many dogs with this level of condition live full, active lives — and Dreyfus is already proving that he’s one of them. What he needs now is someone who sees all of him — not just a diagnosis — and recognizes the incredible, loving, easy companion he is.If you’re looking for that rare, special dog who checks every box and then some… Dreyfus is waiting. And once you meet him, you’ll understand why his foster family thinks he’s nothing short of perfect. 🐾💛Name: DreyfusBreed: Labrador-Terrier Retriever MixSex: MaleAge: 15 months  (estimated)Weight: 31lbsSpayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: LOVES CHILDRENGood with Dogs: Yes, very calm and acceptingGood with Cats: Not too interested - doesn't seem to want to chaseAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:   New EnglandIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age-appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if needed.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Kevin Henson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Meet Kevin, a striking pointer mix with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. At about 65 pounds, he’s a playful, goofy boy who loves toys, food, and being part of the action. Kevin is smart, eager to learn, and incredibly food-motivated, the perfect combo for training.  Kevin is a social butterfly with people and enjoys making new friends. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and always ready for a good time, whether it’s a romp outside or hanging with his favorite humans. Due to Kevin’s size and energy level, he would do best in a house as opposed to an apartment or condo. His ideal forever home would have a fenced-in backyard where he can run to his heart’s content. Kevin does have some leash reactivity in certain overstimulating situations (like adoption events) so he needs an adopter who’s ready to put in the time and consistency he deserves. With structure, training, and patience, this boy will absolutely thrive. Kevin just started private training sessions and is learning so much already! If you’re looking for a fun, loyal companion and you’re ready to help a smart dog reach his full potential, Kevin is your guy. If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter.   If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today!
