Story
Meet Scout, a happy, well-adjusted boy who enjoys life and people and is eager to please. This handsome boy had a rough start to life. For the first year of his life, he was tied to a tree with very little human interaction or guidance. His family didn’t have the time or ability to train him, and his playful jumping unintentionally caused problems with their younger children. Thankfully, Scout was rescued from that situation and given the second chance he truly deserves. In his foster home, Scout has shown what a joyful, affectionate dog he truly is. He loves people and thrives on attention, playtime, and engagement. He does well with other dogs and enjoys canine companionship, especially with dogs that can match his energy and play style. He would do best in a home with active dog friends rather than older dogs or those who are reactive. Because of his enthusiasm and playfulness level, Scout is better suited for a home with older, dog-savvy children.Scout is a fairly quiet dog who isn’t much of a barker and is housetrained using a doggie door. While he doesn’t need to be crated, he is kennel trained and settles well. His favorite things include playing with toys, earning treats, and heading out for car rides—anything that lets him be part of the action and close to his people.Leash walking is Scout’s biggest work-in-progress, which is completely understandable given his past. He is learning that walks can be calm and enjoyable, and with kind, fear-free handling and positive reinforcement, he continues to improve. He’s currently using a Gentle Leader and has already learned to sit and heel fairly well, showing just how eager he is to learn when given patience and kindness.Scout is a loving, fun-spirited dog who has already overcome so much. He’s ready for a patient, understanding home that will continue building his confidence and helping him grow into the wonderful companion he’s meant to be. With love, guidance, and consistency, Scout will reward his forever family with unwavering loyalty, joyful energy, and endless tail wags.Name: ScoutBreed: Labrador RetrieverSex: MaleAge: 2 years  (estimated)Weight: 64.0Spayed/Neutered:  YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive, but treatment completed!Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:   Texas  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. Story
Meet a Reina, a sweet, petite timid girl who's getting braver by the day. Reina spent the past year in southern foster care learning to trust humans after being used as target practice by some evil humans in Arkansas. Now in New England, Reina is continuing to gain confidence and learning how to dog.Miss Reina is incredibly brave and recently began venturing outside, following the lead of other confident dogs. She has now learned outside is a safe place and even gets excited about it. And most important, will now will go outside to potty!!Look at her enjoying her foster yard:https://youtube.com/shorts/8cOZo6NqvIc?feature=sharedhttps://youtube.com/shorts/gRjZeDnKnjE?si=RMCzZi2630ZP1Qk2Leashes are still too overwhelming for her, so a secure, fenced-in yard is mandatory as well as at least one other confident dog in the home.Reina needs at least one happy, confident dog in Reina's in her new home. This is an absolute must. She loves playing with toys and collecting Nylabones in a pile. She's cautious with people but enjoys butt scratches and eagerly takes treats from your hand. Reina is playful, sweet, and quirky, often approaching for pets but retreating when she's had enough. She loves to show her excitement with butt wiggles and the cutest "awooo" companied by big spins. Reina would thrive in a home with other dogs along with someone to nurture her playful spirit. her cautious nature, she thrives with other dogs and shows a joyful, docile side in the right environment.Reina needs a calm, patient environment with understanding adopters willing to give her time to adjust. Shy dogs prefer environments, making them perfect for people who appreciate a relaxed, low-key lifestyle. They will happily join you for serene moments, offering a gentle, soothing presence .Earning the trust of a shy dog is an incredibly rewarding experience. When they do open up to you, the connection is unmatched, and you will feel the depth of their gratitude and love every single day.Reina is a sweet, sweet soul who has have already made incredible progress and is ready for the next step in her journey—finding a loving home that will continue to help her heal and flourish. Story
Pinky is an affectionate, beautiful Lab mix puppy who is ready for the loving forever home she so deeply deserves. Her story began when she was found sitting alone on the side of a road with a badly broken leg. What happened to her before that moment is unknown, but one thing is certain—she didn’t give up. When a kind stranger stopped to help, one of our fosters happened to drive by and knew the shelter was no place for an injured puppy. Pinky was scooped up and taken straight to the vet, where her leg was placed in a splint and she was prescribed several weeks of strict crate rest to heal.Despite her injury and limited activity, Pinky’s sweet personality shines through. She adores belly rubs, enjoys chewing on her antlers, and has been a very good girl in her crate—even though she’d much rather be running and playing. She has had no accidents in her kennel and will let you know with a loud, clear whine when she needs to go potty. She also rides nicely in the car for her vet visits and has no issues with motion sickness. For a young puppy, Pinky is surprisingly calm, which has been a blessing during her recovery. She currently goes outside only on leash for bathroom breaks, but the good news is that her leg appears to be healing well. Another X-ray is coming up soon to check her progress, and everyone is hopeful she’ll soon be cleared to live the playful, carefree puppy life she was meant to have.Pinky has already shown incredible resilience and so much love. Now all she needs is a family to cheer her on as she finishes healing and grows into the happy, playful companion she’s destined to be. Let’s find this precious girl the wonderful home she’s been waiting for.Name: PinkyBreed: Labrador Retriever/Pit Bull TerrierSex: FemaleAge: 18 weeksWeight: 16.0Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. We can provide adopters with a list of low-cost SN clinics when requested. The adoption fee also includes the transport fee when applicableATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.  PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Do you have the time?IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue. Story
Nestle is a senior southern gentleman who is one of the many dogs from Meadow Rescue in Memphis - their caretaker for many many years passed away leaving approx 65 dogs. Walter was an official greeter to the rescue. Paws New England took in many, mostly the seniors from this group because we just love them.Nestle is in a foster home now and has done great with humans and the other dogs (some of whom he knows of course). Nestle is a wonderful companion. He loves to be loved - a true sweetheart! Nestle would do best with a family who is home a lot and has a dog sibling to keep Nestlé company when they are out running occasional errands. If you are retired or work from home - that would be the perfect situation for Nestle.Nestlé loves to be loved. A true sweetheart. If you would like to know more about this handsome and sweet older guy, please put in an application. We've had his veterinary needs met including vaccines, neuter and all that stuff - he tested positive for heartworm but has gotten treatment. As a senior dog, he may need things in the future so need a family/person who understands that.If you've not ever adopted or had a senior dog, there's nothing quite like it. Please consider giving it a try.Name: Nestle MeadowoodBreed: Labrador Retriever/HoundSex: MaleAge: 11 years (estimated)Weight: 63.0Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive in April and has completed treatmentMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: No; teens and up best to respect a senior pupGood with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: NoAdoption Fee: $300  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Memphis in Foster CareIMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England. Kevin Henson is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home!    Meet Kevin, a striking pointer mix with a big personality and an even bigger zest for life. At about 65 pounds, he’s a playful, goofy boy who loves toys, food, and being part of the action. He’s smart, eager to learn, and incredibly food-motivated, the perfect combo for training.  Kevin is a social butterfly with people and enjoys making new friends. He’s house-trained, crate-trained, and always ready for a good time, whether it’s a romp outside or hanging with his favorite humans. His ideal forever home would have a fenced-in backyard where he can run to his heart’s content.  Kevin does have leash reactivity, so he needs an experienced adopter who’s ready to put in the time and consistency he deserves.
