**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Callie. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 60 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound and I am now looking for a loving new family to join. When I first arrived, I had a terrible ear infection which is now being treated. I am a very, very sweet, well mannered girl. I am affectionate towards people and enjoy getting attention. I get along well with other large dogs, but I would do best in a home without small animals (meet and greets are a must with any other dog you currently own). I appear to be completely housebroken and I'm a very good girl in my kennel here at the pound. I would make a great companion for someone that is maybe on the older side and just looking for a laid back dog to spend your days with. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Caulder. I'm about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 63 lbs. My 5 friends and I were brought in from a neglect situation from which 11 dogs were removed back in January. Our owners didn't give us much attention at all. We were mostly chained or kenneled since we were pups. We were unwanted litters from their unspayed female dogs. They didn't do anything with us aside from feed us and give us water (some of us didn't even have water). They haven't lived at the property with us for months now. Needless to say, we haven't really had much socialization. Everything new is pretty scary, but we do warm up pretty quickly to new people. We will need patient families that can help acclimate us to our new homes and work with us on basic training, commands and potty training. I am a very sweet girl. Once I get to know you, I am very affectionate. I love attention and belly rubs. I have been good around all of the other dogs I've met. Ching (4/15/25) and his brother Chong have recently arrived from the beautiful island of St Croix, USVI. Ching, a lab/terrier mix, weighs around 27 pounds and will most likely max out around 35-40 pounds. Ching is a very sweet boy who is a little shy when meeting new people, but warms up quickly when given a few hugs or a body rub. He has been raised with cats and is doing very well with his potty manners. He is walking well on a leash and enjoys rides in the car. He loves going zoomies in the yard. Ching is vaccinated, neutered, 4DX tested and microchipped. He is ready to go to a home with another dog, a cat and children! Apply to adopt Ching at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog

Story
Luna and Tuna are 2 years old lab/terrier mixes and are looking for a home where they can stay together. This brother and sister team were surrendered by their owner and spent 6 months in the Shelter in St Thomas before coming to Pet Search. They are both medium size, weighing around 35 pounds of energy and love! They are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, 4DX tested and negative and microchipped. They are great with other dogs and can be a little too high energy for cats and very young children. Spending so much time in a kennel in the shelter, they are getting refreshed on their potty skills. They love playing together, but equally enjoy snuggle time with their foster family. Do you have room in your heart and home for two "coconut retrievers that will keep you entertained as well as on your toes? Applications can he found at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog or petsesrchpa.org KL#03301 Washington PA 15301

Story
Koda/Varley came to Pet Search in February 2020 as a 12 week old puppy from St Thomas. He was quickly adopted, but then returned to pet search 6 months later. He was a "different pup... a little apprehensive of men. The foster family worked with Koda on trusting men and he was adopted again in May 2021. Koda was returned to Pet Search again because of issues with men and we have been working diligently with training to get him past this hurdle. Koda is 2.5 years old (birthdate 11/1/19) and can be very loving. He loves women and is very responsive to them, but needs a little time to warm up to a man that is soft spoken and will be patient. Koda is better with female dogs that are passive and a little smaller than him and older children. He is housebroken but will have an accident in his crate sometimes. With patience and understanding, Koda will make a great dog for a single woman or a Couple/family with a quieter lifestyle. Applications can he found at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/PAPS/Dog or petsearchpa.org KL#03301 Washington PA 15301
