**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Astro. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 76 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was never claimed by my owner. I am a very sweet, playful boy. I have done well with the other dogs I've met here at the pound and I like to play. I am very clean in my kennel and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Lucky. I'm about 5 1/2 years old and I weigh about 70 lbs. I was found as a stray in the East Palestine area and I was taken in to the Police Department, then picked up by the pound. I was microchipped and apparently I lived in Florida!! Despite my microchip being updated just a couple of days before I was brought into the pound, the pound has not been able to contact my previous owner, so I am now looking for a new, loving family to join. I am a very sweet boy. I have been great around all of the people I've met. I have met some of the other dogs here and I've done well with them as long as they're nice to me. I don't like being bullied and pushed around, but I'm good with dogs that are social and friendly. I do a great job keeping my kennel clean and I appear to have been a house dog before making my way into the pound. Story
Willie's story began when he and his littermate (Waylon) were found abandoned on the side of the road by a local rescuer. They were scared and unsure of people at first but with patience and love and a safe foster home have learned that the world isn't such a scary place after all. They are young and continue to gain confidence every day. Since entering foster care they have started to learn crate training. They are socialized with other dogs, cats, and small children. They have made tremendous progress in trusting people and adapting to home life. They are up to date on vaccines and are got neutered on June 19th. They are ready to begin their happy ever after! These two boys are not bonded and do not have to be adopted together. We just wanted to tell their backstory of how they were rescued so you will know a little about their history. They each deserve a patient family willing to continue helping them build confidence and discover just how wonderful the world and life is! Please message us if you are interested in adopting this sweet boy! All adoptions will be completed at Petsmart - 420 Home Dr.. Daphne Karl is the contact. Please contact her at 601-720-5275. We look forward to hearing from you!

Story
Like the brightest star in the night sky, Starla is patiently waiting for her forever family to discover her. This sweet girl has been searching for her happy ending for far too long, and we're convinced her perfect match is out there. Starla can be a little shy when faced with new places and unfamiliar situations. Sometimes the world feels a bit big and overwhelming, but give her a little time, a few tasty treats, and plenty of kindness, and you'll watch her begin to shine. Once she feels safe, her playful personality starts to sparkle! One of Starla's favorite things is playing with stuffed toys—especially if there's stuffing involved! After some fun, she's happiest curled up on the couch beside her favorite people, enjoying a cozy evening and catching up on her favorite TV shows. A home with another friendly dog would be ideal for Starla. Having a confident canine companion helps her continue building confidence and reminds her that the world isn't such a scary place after all. Starla may not be the star that immediately steals the spotlight, but she's the kind that shines steadily and beautifully once you take the time to know her. If you're looking for a loyal companion whose confidence blossoms with love, Starla is ready to light up your life. ⭐❤️ Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Ruby is a bright, sparkling gem ready to be adopted! She is a unique black labrador/border collie mix, with high energy and a goofball personality, with a white stripe down her snout! She has a heart of gold with whipped cream on top :) Ruby was found with her friend Lucy, they were both left out in the country, luckily by a rescuer's home. She fed and worked with them for a couple of weeks before they were able to get into the rescue and the rest is a BIG FUTURE!! Ruby LOVES to play tug of war with her friends all the time and I really would be best with another calm and confident dog to help keep her busy and tired. She is best in an outgoing, outdoor loving family, maybe YOURS??? Ruby is waiting........ :D Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
🐾 Meet Arly: Your Future Adventure Partner! Hi there! My name is Arly, and I’m ready to find my forever family. I am a beautiful, one-year-old Black Lab/Shepherd mix with a coat that shines like silk. My foster mom says I’m "mature beyond my years," which is a fancy way of saying I’m a very good girl who already knows how to handle the "puppy crazies." 🌟 Why You’ll Love Me: Manners for Days: I’ve mastered the art of "sit" and "wait." Even when I’m super excited to see you after work, I’ll sit patiently at my kennel door until you’re ready to open it. I also listen right away when you tell me "off" if I get a little too curious about what’s on the kitchen counters! Outdoor Enthusiast: If there is water nearby, I’m in it! I love swimming, hiking, and exploring the great outdoors. Whether we’re running in the yard or searching for new smells on a trail, I’m your girl. The Best Road Trip Buddy: I ride perfectly in the car. My favorite thing is to rest my chin on your shoulder from the back seat to let you know I’m enjoying the ride. House Trained: I’ve mastered the doggie door! I’m so proud to say I’ve even spent the night out of my kennel and did a great job letting my foster mom know when I needed to go outside by giving a gentle bark at her door. 🎾 My Favorite Things: Toys: Tennis balls, stuffed animals, and chewy bones are my jam. Snacks: I’m a bit of a foodie! I love chicken, eggs, cheese, sardines, and peanut butter. Nap Time: After a long day of playing, you can find me curled up in a recliner or resting in my kennel. 🏡 My Ideal Home: I would thrive with a family that loves being active and outdoors as much as I do. I get along great with other dogs (I love my foster "fur sisters"!) and I’m even respectful of cats—I once sat right next to one and didn't mind at all! While I’m not a total "cuddle bug" just yet, I’ve started hopping up into my foster mom’s lap for brief visits. I think once I find my true forever people, I might just become the biggest snuggle buddy you’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a smart, sweet, and water-loving companion to grow with, please fill out an application today! I can’t wait to meet you and make you proud. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
