Story
Oreo is a 4 year old lab mix. He is a very sweet, lovable boy who loves to cuddle and play. Oreo is a protector by nature and a great listener! He walks well on a leash and enjoys playing with other dogs. Oreo is fully house trained and roams freely all day, when home alone, and throughout the night without issue. He loves his chew toys and can be found with one often in his mouth while he runs around. He loves fetch and being outside in any capacity. Oreo becomes anxious when there are a lot of kids running around and yelling loudly. He can become mouthy/snippy with small children when overwhelmed or grabbed roughly by them. Although he loves to play, he would be well suited in a home with adults and/or a home with only older children (approximately 10 or older).

**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Astro. I'm about 2 years old and I weigh about 76 lbs. I was found as a stray in the Wellsville area and I was never claimed by my owner. I am a very sweet, playful boy. I have done well with the other dogs I've met here at the pound and I like to play. I am very clean in my kennel and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Caulder. I'm about 2-3 years old and I weigh about 63 lbs. My 5 friends and I were brought in from a neglect situation from which 11 dogs were removed back in January. Our owners didn't give us much attention at all. We were mostly chained or kenneled since we were pups. We were unwanted litters from their unspayed female dogs. They didn't do anything with us aside from feed us and give us water (some of us didn't even have water). They haven't lived at the property with us for months now. Needless to say, we haven't really had much socialization. Everything new is pretty scary, but we do warm up pretty quickly to new people. We will need patient families that can help acclimate us to our new homes and work with us on basic training, commands and potty training. I am a very sweet girl. Once I get to know you, I am very affectionate. I love attention and belly rubs. I have been good around all of the other dogs I've met. If you're looking for a sweet dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Mya. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 62 lbs. I was surrendered to the pound, along with my friends Lilly and Piper, through no fault of our own. I am now looking for a loving new family to join. I am a very, very sweet girl. I have the typical, happy lab temperament. I love people and would be happy to get attention for hours, but I will also just go do my own thing if my people are busy. If my people are not busy, however, I would like them to spend a substantial amount of their "me" time playing ball with me! I don't care if you're throwing it far and I'm chasing it and bringing it back or if I'm sitting right next to you and you throw it in my mouth and then take it and throw it again and we do it over and over and over! Ball is my favorite! I have done great with other dogs and I would do just fine in a home with other dogs. I will likely need work with my potty training as my living situation hasn't been the best for a little while. I do a great job of keeping my kennel clean here at the pound, so crate training would be a helpful tool if there are issues. I had absolutely horrendous ear infections when I came in that had gone untreated. When I went to the vet, they sent out cultures so the pound could make sure I was being properly treated. I am currently on oral antibiotics, a steroid taper, and a long lasting dose of otic suspension. I am already feeling so much relief! My new family will need to continue to monitor my ears to make sure I don't need further treatment. If you're looking for a wonderful dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. Story
Baylor is a loving, affectionate 5-year-old boy who deserves a calm, stable home where he can truly thrive. We love him deeply, but we know he would do best in an environment better suited to his needs. He loves cuddles, his toys, a good run in the yard and being close to his people. He would do best as the **only dog**, as other dogs make him anxious.More than anything, we want Baylor to find a loving home where he feels safe, secure, and cherished. He has so much love to give and will make an incredibly devoted companion for the right person or family.

Story
Like the brightest star in the night sky, Starla is patiently waiting for her forever family to discover her. This sweet girl has been searching for her happy ending for far too long, and we're convinced her perfect match is out there. Starla can be a little shy when faced with new places and unfamiliar situations. Sometimes the world feels a bit big and overwhelming, but give her a little time, a few tasty treats, and plenty of kindness, and you'll watch her begin to shine. Once she feels safe, her playful personality starts to sparkle! One of Starla's favorite things is playing with stuffed toys—especially if there's stuffing involved! After some fun, she's happiest curled up on the couch beside her favorite people, enjoying a cozy evening and catching up on her favorite TV shows. A home with another friendly dog would be ideal for Starla. Having a confident canine companion helps her continue building confidence and reminds her that the world isn't such a scary place after all. Starla may not be the star that immediately steals the spotlight, but she's the kind that shines steadily and beautifully once you take the time to know her. If you're looking for a loyal companion whose confidence blossoms with love, Starla is ready to light up your life. ⭐❤️ Local adoption fee is $200(in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)
