Story
Hi, my name’s Rowan!I’m a handsome boy who gets startled easily, maybe because my past wasn`t the kindest. I`m slowly learning to trust again, though, and I’ve made a lot of great progress since coming to GHS: even when scared, I’ll still cautiously approach and nudge for gentle pets. After I arrived here, it took weeks before I was comfortable going for walks! I’ve come a long way. I’m particularly nervous around men and feel safest around one person at a time, but with someone patient who understands that positivity and gentle socialization can help heal old wounds, I could blossom into your new best friend. MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, I am looking for an adult-only home due to my skittish nature.OTHER DOGS: Yes, with a well-socialized and easy-going dog.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs. FENCED-IN YARD: Required, given I can get quite nervous on leash walks.HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: Any with a fenced yard.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: Not necessarily.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME…ACTIVITY LEVEL: Medium.HOUSE-TRAINED: Yes.MEDICATIONS: Yes, I take daily medication orally to help with my stress. If you think I would make a good match for your home, please click the `Adopt Me` button to apply!

Story
Hello, I’m Hawthorn!I’m a sweet boy, even though life’s been a bit rocky and trust doesn’t come easy for me. I arrived at GHS very scared, nervous, and quick to panic, but my friends here at GHS have helped me learn I don’t need to be afraid of humans anymore—I’m starting to show my social side by asking for pets and even starting to jump up to say hello to people I like! I’m particularly nervous around men and feel safest around one person at a time; I’m looking for a family who is gentle, understanding, and patient so I can continue to build my confidence and feel safe for life.MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES…CHILDREN: No, I am looking for an adult-only home due to my timid nature.OTHER DOGS: Potentially, with a well-socialized, easy-going dog.CATS: Yes, with a cat confident around big dogs.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: No, I would do best in a home that has experience with large and timid dogs. I’m excited to be selected as part of the Paisley Project and I’m looking for a foster home! If your home environment matches what I’m looking for based on the information above, please consider applying to foster me. The Paisley Project aims to match selected, long-stay animals at GHS with fosters that can provide a home that gradually introduces them to the everyday experiences of life as a pet. Fosters will offer the routine, structure and stability needed to help get animals ready for their new family. Learn more & apply at guelphhumane.ca/the-paisley-project

Hi, my name is Faith! ❤️🐾A senior dog with a heart full of love. Every day, I greet everyone with a wagging tail and bright eyes, hoping to share my joy. I adore cuddles, quiet naps and a big window to be able to look out and watch the world. I enjoy leisurely walks. Friends here say I'm a perfect companion because I'm so friendly and sweet. If you're looking for a loyal friend to share your days with, I'm your girl! Let's make wonderful memories together. I want to let you know that I am deaf, and know many hand signals, so a fenced yard would be very beneficial for my safety. Oh, I also need to be the only 4-legged family member as I prefer all the love. Why not come by and meet me? I'm sure we'll be the best of friends! If you are interested in me, please drop by for a visit and a staff member will be happy to have you meet me. You can also send through an email for more information orangeville@ontariospca.ca and include your phone number so we can better contact you! I can't wait to go home with you.-Faith❤️ Primary Color: Black Weight: 32.2 Age: 10yrs 4mths 2wks

Story
Meet Brady! Brady is a handsome 6-8 month-old Lab mix weighing approximately 36 pounds. This sweet boy is vaccinated, rabies vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped, and neutered and ready to find his forever family. Brady is a sweet, playful, happy boy who gets along wonderfully with other dogs and kids. 🐶👧 His experience with cats is unknown, but given his young age, we feel he could do well with proper, slow introductions. He is crate trained, his house training is going well, and he's currently learning how to walk nicely on a leash. Like any young pup, Brady will need a family willing to continue his training and help him become the amazing dog we know he can be. Looking for a buddy to walk around town, explore new places, go on adventures, and then come home for some love and cuddles? Brady just might be your dream boy. Brady has so much love to give now he just needs someone to give him his happily ever after. Could Brady be the missing piece of your family?

Story
Meet Ross! Just look at this sweet boy! Ross is a handsome 7-month-old Lab mix weighing 24 pounds, and he's ready to find the family who will love him forever. Ross is neutered, vaccinated, has his rabies vaccine, and is microchipped. All that's missing now is a home to call his own. Ross really is one of the sweetest boys you'll meet. He's friendly, affectionate, playful, and loves being around people. He gets along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids, making him a fantastic option for a family looking to add a young pup to their home. 🐶 Good with dogs 🐱 Good with cats 👧 Good with kids 🏡 Crate trained 🐾 House training in progress 🦮 Leash training in progress At just 7 months old, Ross is still a puppy and has lots to learn about the big world around him. His house training is coming along, and he's continuing to practice his leash skills. With consistency, patience, and lots of praise, we know this smart little guy will continue to blossom. ❤️ Ross would love a family who will include him in everyday life whether that's going for walks, exploring new places, playing with his toys, hanging out with his people, or curling up after a fun day. He has his whole life ahead of him and deserves to spend it surrounded by people who adore him. At only 24 pounds, he's a wonderful size and has so much love packed into that adorable little body. A best friend. A walking buddy. A family companion. Ross is ready to be all of that and more.

Story
Pongo / Neutered Male / 6 Months / Lab mix? / Dogs: Yes / Cats: Yes / Kids: 13+ / Location: East Garafraxa Meet Pongo (again!) This handsome boy was adopted earlier this year but sadly returned just a month later. Pongo is a truly special pup who needs an equally special home to match. At just 6 months old and 45 lbs, Pongo is full of energy, smarts, and heart. While we were told he might be a Border Collie/Lab mix, we aren’t entirely sure, what we do know is that he won’t get too much bigger and that he’s 100% adorable. Pongo can be nervous in new situations or around unfamiliar people, but he’s been working so hard to overcome this. He even spent several weeks with our friends at stylek9dogtraining, where he learned amazing skills that will set him up for success. His future family will continue his journey with a few follow up classes, already covered in his adoption fee, because consistency is key for this sensitive boy. What makes Pongo amazing: Walks beautifully on leash, calmly and politely (even sitting at stops!) Crate trained & fully housebroken Snuggle king who always wants to be near his people Playful, smart, and food motivated, he learns fast! Loves doggy friends, is good with cats, and would thrive with or without another dog in the home Because of his nervous nature, Pongo would do best with older, dog savvy kids. A yard to run, play, and chase squirrels would be a dream for him. To help him settle in, Pongo will even come with his special “place bed” included in his adoption fee, we want to give him every chance to succeed. Pongo is sweet, loving, and so ready for a family who will understand his past and nurture his bright future. Could that be you? https://forms.gle/gMSrMCVFqQ3fb5gN8
