Story
Hi! I`m Piper, a young, sweet, and cuddly girl. I love making friends and am very loyal. Life here at the Shelter is good after living as an unclaimed stray, but I dream of a forever home where I can share all my love. I have my moments of energy and need a little more training but I am well on my way. The staff are sure that Penny is my Mom and we have stayed together even while homeless as we are unclaimed strays. I do rely on my Mom for confidence in new situations at this time! With proper socializing I can learn to read other dogs better and master new skills independently. I am learning more every day as to how to be a `pet`. Getting into the car, playing with toys and engaging in play are new skills I am quickly learning. Of course, my favorite thing to do is still cuddles! We`re a package deal – double the fun and double the love! Adopting us means endless cuddles and faithful friendship. We can`t wait to meet you and start our new chapter together!MY IDEAL HOME INVOLVES...CHILDREN: Yes, I love everyone!CATS: Cats are interesting. With a slow introduction, it might be okay. OTHER DOGS: I get along well with other dogs once I have had a proper introduction.FIRST-TIME DOG OWNERS: Experience with large dog breeds is recommended but not required.FENCED-IN YARD: A fenced in area would benefit me to roam around. I enjoy lounging outside on nice days. HOUSING ENVIRONMENT: I would do well in a busy or quiet household.SOMEONE HOME MOST OF THE DAY: I would do okay being left alone for 8 hours/regular work shift.SOME OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME....ACTIVITY LEVEL: MediumHOUSE-TRAINED: Yes!BIRTH DATE: Unknown - Estimated 2022/2023

Story
Piper is a beautiful lab-shepherd-greyhound mix who is 9 years old. She is incredibly, sweet, well trained, and loves people and cuddles. Her favourite pastime is curling up into her signature donut shape and leaning into you while you watch tv, have a nap, or lay in the sun. Piper’s favourite game is playing hide and seek with treats; she waits in the other room while we hide treats around the house and then she will excitedly and with determination root them all out. She loves to go on long slow walks where she will smell every last thing. Her favourite snacks are cucumber slices and she can hear a cucumber being cut open from rooms away. Piper is loyal, silly and, just wants to be where the people are. Piper's ideal home would be an adult only home without other animals.   Name: Piper Breed: Mixed breed Labrador and Greyhound Weight: 70 pounds Gender: female Spayed/neutered: spayed Age: 9 years Obtained From: Rehomed from another home at about 1 year old. Reason for Intake: Piper is not comfortable around toddlers  Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: She is reactive to other dogs on leash closer than 15-20 feet.  She has had very little experience with dogs in the past 5-6 years.  When they first got her she did go to the dog park but was attacked there. Good with cats: Unknown but they think she has a high prey drive. Good with kids: She has very little experience with children.  They cottaged for 3 days with children under 10 years old and after about 24 hours she seemed to become more concerned with them and started barking and reacting to them especially when her owners were engaged with the kids.   Good with strangers: Yes.  Good with adult visitors.  If a stranger comes to visit she will bark at the door knock and then run up and greet them and be excited to see them. Resource guarding issues: Not from people.  Unknown with other animals. Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: No Fears: young children Housetrained: Yes.  She is used to living in an apartment and peeing and pooping on leash walks. Crate trained: She has not been crated since they initially got her 7-8 years ago. Good in the car: She is anxious in the car and paces and whines.  She has had motion sickness in the past on longer trips. Destructive: No Energy Level: Medium Leash skills: She walks well on leash.  After training, she is reactive to dogs closer than about 20 feet.  They typically cross the street when they see other dogs and they do not meet other dogs on walks.  She does not show concern with people, vehicles, etc. on walks. Story
Meet Kia   a lifetime of love, ready for one more chapter   Kia is a 15-year-old, 55-pound mixed breed with a gentle soul and a heart full of love to give. She has been cherished her whole life, and it shows in her calm demeanor and joyful spirit. Age has only softened her, it hasn’t dimmed her spark.   Despite being a senior, Kia still enjoys life’s simple pleasures. She loves her daily walks, trips to the garden center, and tagging along to a pet-friendly coffee shop. At home, you’ll often find her happily pouncing on soft toys, working on puzzle games, or soaking up the sun. She greets new people with a polite sniff and is content to stay close by, just enjoying your company.   Kia has done well with other dogs, she’s playful when off lead and generally relaxed on walks, preferring to keep to her side of the street and calmly pass by. She sleeps peacefully on her own bed at night and can stay home alone without any concerns. She’s house trained, though her “old lady bladder” appreciates a little extra help with potty breaks every 6–8 hours.   Kia does have arthritis but she has had thorough veterinary care including bloodwork, urine and fecal testing, and an abdominal ultrasound - all showing she’s in good overall health. She’s a wonderful reminder that senior dogs still have so much love, joy, and companionship to offer.   This special girl is looking for a home that values unhurried walks, warm sunbeams, and cozy movie nights. If you believe that the best relationships are built on quiet moments and unconditional love, Kia may be the perfect companion to share your days.   Adopting a senior is an act of love and Kia will return it tenfold.    December 14, 2025, 10:54 am

Story
QUEENIE Age: 3 years Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Labrador Retriever Color: Black Weight: 28 kg Height: 58 cm (at the shoulder)   Rescue Story   Queenie was rescued from a municipal shelter in October 2024, just before euthanasia. She has been living in a private shelter for about a year and is now ready to finally experience life in a real home.   With People   Queenie is extremely affectionate and loves everyone she meets — both familiar faces and complete strangers. She happily rubs against people, seeks out touch, and enjoys being petted.   She is friendly with both women and men and does very well with children under 13. Once she feels comfortable, she will roll over and show her belly for rubs.   She can be picked up and handled with ease.   With Other Dogs   Queenie is a true social butterfly. She happily approaches both familiar and unfamiliar dogs to greet them and invite them to play.   She is gentle, friendly, and always wags her tail, even if another dog is rude or pushy. She tends to prefer dogs her size or smaller and avoids conflict.   With Cats   On walks, she may try to follow cats out of curiosity, but she responds well to redirection. Cat testing can be arranged.   Energy Level & Home Life   Queenie has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities and walks, but once she’s had exercise, she settles down nicely and relaxes indoors.   Walks & Training   At first, Queenie may pull on leash because she is excited to explore. With training and guidance, she learns to walk nicely and stay connected with her handler.   Because she is strong, she would do best with someone who has experience handling medium-to-large dogs.   She is currently an outdoor-potty dog.   Behavior & Manners   No food or toy guarding Rarely barks Calm in her kennel Gentle and friendly nature   She may bark briefly if she is left alone while other dogs are outside, simply because she wants to join them.   Ideal Home   Queenie would thrive in an active, loving home where she can enjoy companionship, walks, and plenty of affection — whether as an only dog or with other friendly dogs.   She is a wonderful family dog who brings joy, warmth, and love wherever she goes. Story
Meet Lucille, a 2 year old Labrador! Lucille was captured by urban management in November 2024. Back then she was skinny as bones and had a skin condition. Now she is all healed up and with a foster family. At her foster family's, Lucille has learned lots - she walks great on leash, loves to cuddle with her humans, and gets along great with other dogs! Lucille is just such a love bug! Lucille does have a slight condition - when she is overly excited or in a new environment, she will occasionally clatter her mouth. We have done testing on her but have found nothing wrong psychologically or physically. The doctors believe they are idiopathic tremors. She is currently on meds but condition has not worsen or improved. This will stay with Lucille her entire life, and may evolve into epilepsy in the worst case scenario. She is currently in China, but available to fly to you in the coming months. Please send us an email if you are interested in learning more about Lucille and our adoption process!
