FOSTER-TO-ADOPT HOMES NEEDED!! ***Please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form*** We would love to welcome George into the Fetch + Releash family on November 17th, 2024 (subject to change). In order for George to come into our care, we need a committed family. As a foster-to-adopt family, you'll be expected to take him home on his arrival date. You will then have two weeks to get to know your new furry house guest before committing to adoption. At the end of two weeks, if you choose not to move forward with adoption, we simply ask that you continue to provide a safe and loving home until his new forever family can be found. Each bio was created by our rescue partners based on their interactions with the dogs. Fetch + Releash has a full disclosure policy however we cannot guarantee a dog against parasites or diseases, nor can we guarantee a dog's nature/behaviour. Many of these dogs are coming directly from the shelter and so you should expect there to be a transitional period. Be prepared to deal with common issues like potty training, leash walking, and socialization. Cat and kid safety assessments are often based on their personality and not necessarily on actual interactions. Where possible, the majority of vetting will be completed prior to coming to Canada, however, foster-to-adopt families may be required to travel to our partner vet in Mississauga, ON for further vet care. During your foster-to-adopt trial, you'll receive the support of a Fetch + Releash mentor to help you through the transition and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Foster-to-adopt families will be required to pay a $200 deposit on the adoption fee and sign our foster-to-adopt waiver in advance. If you choose not to adopt, your $200 will be refunded to you within 30 days of your dog being adopted into a new family provided you see your pup through to adoption. If you choose not to see your dog through to adoption, you will forfeit your deposit. Foster-to-adopt families will be expected to provide their own supplies. Visit https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info for more info on mandatory supplies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ George / Male / 1.5 years / 87lbs / Lab Mix / From Tennessee Introducing George the charmer. This shy but affectionate Lab mix is eager to share the simple joys of life with his new family. George's carefree and playful personality makes him an ideal addition to any family, ready to fill your home with laughter and love. George is ready to learn, however he has no formal training and will thrive with ongoing guidance and gentle reminders about his size. He can jump up when excited so we suggest a home with older kids (10+) due to his size. He enjoys playtime with other dogs but recently lost his pen mate as they were lucky to get their freedom ride to Canada in July. It is not necessary for George to land in a home with another dog as he is known to happily hang out on his own. Opportunities to meet and make other canine friends will help him stay well socialized. For George to reach his full potential, his future family is encouraged to engage in training sessions, establish routines and set boundaries in order to build his confidence. George has only known a life outdoors so his new family will also need to be committed to working with him on all the basics - everything from crate training, potty training, master walking on leash and basic commands like sit, down, stay, etc. His family will need to be patient and provide him time to decompress and adjust to his new life of living indoors as it will be a big change. His family should expect to spend time offering several opportunities per day to walk, play, and provide enrichment as George learns how to live the good life. He may be shy at first so slow exposure to new experiences and people will allow him to flourish at his own pace. A home with a yard would be best as he is so used to having space to run and play. During a brief cat test we believe George could adapt to a life alongside a dog-savvy feline friend, ensuring proper introductions, boundaries and supervision until trust has been built. He was more afraid of the cat than the cat was afraid of him. With confidence building we could see him and a feline friend becoming great buddies one day. Play-based training helps build strong bonds. By engaging in interactive and fun activities, you not only nurture his intelligence but also build a connection that will last a lifetime. George is not just looking for a home; he's seeking a loving family committed to helping him thrive. If you're ready to open your heart and home to a devoted companion, consider adopting George. Together, you can embark on a journey of shared adventures, creating a bond that will bring joy and fulfillment to your life. If you’re interested in fostering with the intention of adopting, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form George's adoption fee is $850. To learn more about our adoption fees and the foster-to-adopt process, please visit our FAQs at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/about-us#about-faqs.

Story
Meet Enchilada, a playful and affectionate girl who’s ready to become your new best friend! Enchilada is full of energy and loves playing with her foster siblings, but when the fun is done, she’s all about the cuddles. She’s been sleeping soundly through the night and has a knack for making herself at home. Enchilada walks well on a leash, though she can get a little distracted by all the exciting sights and smells—nothing a few treats won’t fix! She’s incredibly friendly and adores every human she meets, always ready to show her playful side with her toys and her happy, bouncy personality. This clever girl has quickly picked up the difference between inside and outside and is already learning to sit before crossing the street on walks. She’s smart, eager to please, and full of pep! If you’re looking for a loving, energetic companion who’s both playful and snuggly, Enchilada could be the perfect match for your family!

Story
Hello, my name is Enid!I am an adorable, smart and energetic young lady who will steal your heart the moment you meet me!I am very excited to move into my new home and keep the ball rolling with socialization. It is important that I join a family that has the time and patience to dedicate to socialization and training, and who can handle my energy and excitement. To become a well-rounded, socialized adult, it's important I have frequent and positive interactions with new people, children, other dogs, visits to the vet clinic and other unfamiliar environments (like friends' homes and pet stores). It's also important I continue to get practice with handling and grooming so I continue to be comfortable when I am older and go for vet visits, get nail trims and receive brushing and grooming.***If you apply to adopt me, please have a certified positive-reinforcement trainer in mind to sign up for puppy socialization classes, as this will be required prior to adoption.***If you are interested in adopting me, please click the "Adopt Me" button to complete an application.

Story
Mac is friendly, loyal and active. Mac prefers people over anything else! This boy's needs are pretty simple - a one-person or one-couple home and some moderate daily exercise, followed by a place next to you, he is happiest finding a comfy place to be wherever you are. When he is with his people he is an affectionate cuddlebug who will amuse you with his expressive face and cute mannerisms. He is a dog that looks to people for leadership and guidance - great qualities for training; his trainer says ‘once he meets you, he is a friend for life!"ABOUT MAC:- Mac is a Lab/Shepherd mix, 5 year old, male, mid-sized approximately 45 lb - Mac is a tripod, he has 3 legs his back left leg was amputated after an injury - Mac is neutered, house-trained, microchipped and has his core vaccinations - He is friendly and does better with calm, slow introductions- He will bond and follow his person(s) everywhere they go in the houseThis boy doesn't pull on walks and will focus on you but he needs you to honour his way of communicating his desires. He likes meeting people but not other dogs on his walks (not right now, anyway) while he has been with us Mac has been working with a trainer and he's making progress. His trainer has made great strides with his vocalness to seeing other dogs on a walk, with space and distance he does well. Our trainer looks forward to working with his adopters to ensure a successful transition and knowledge transfer to his new family.MAC'S IDEAL HOME:- A detached home with a fenced yard in a quiet neighbourhood- Home with one or two people who are home more often than not and not many visitors- Someone who will be able to maintain his health and give him daily moderate exercise- A family willing to continue to work with his trainer on his socializationIf you think Mac would be a great addition to your pack, we want to hear from you! Please fill in our online adoption application. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to meet him once pre-approved for adoption. If you have any questions about Mac or the adoption process please contact his adoption coordinator at: Suejp.ehs@gmail.com VISIT: www.etobicokehumanesociety.com to apply to adopt

Story
Introducing Duke!! Duke is a senior dog looking for a nice retirement home during his golden years. He arrived as a stray and we were unable to find his previous owners. Duke really seems like a one-man dog. He’s loyal to his human, doesn’t care for strangers or other animals, and would prefer to have all the TLC for himself! He enjoys playing outside, going for long walks, and entertains himself with chew toys. SO MANY CHEW TOYS!! Duke may have some mild resource guarding with his toys. He’s not a fan of sharing while playing but will trade for something more valuable. For this reason, a home with young children is not recommended. Duke is all healthy despite having a minor issue with his ear which has been recovering amazingly with treatment! We would be happy to provide a copy of his medical records for review with your own vet prior to adoption! If you are interested in our boy, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Region at (416) 338-PAWS (7297) between 10:30AM - 6:30PM for more information about Duke!
