Story
Hammy / Male / 1.5 years old / 53 pounds / Lab Mix / Good with Dogs with Proper Introductions / Good with Cats / Good with Kids Aged 10+ / From Tennessee / Fostered in Toronto ** Follow Hammy’s adventures on Instagram: @twoqueersandafosterdog ** Meet Hammy! Poor Hammy was surrendered to the pound in Tennessee when his owner could no longer care for him. He has since made the journey to Toronto to find his forever home. Hammy is described by his fosters as sweet, gentle, goofy, and silly. He loves going for walks, sniffing, playing with his stuffies, shredding paper (and toys!), playing fetch, chewing bully sticks, snuggling, and napping. There is not much this happy-go-lucky guy does not like! He currently lives with two cats and enjoys trying to get them to play with him. After all this, he likes to sprawl out in bed with his fosters and sleep quietly through the night. Hammy is very sweet and affectionate with the people he knows. He loves to brush up on you for pets and will follow you around waiting for your attention. He is generally very curious about new people and eager to please them. He appreciates a slow approach and does not like when anyone reaches over his head for pets so it is important to advocate for him and protect his space. Hammy has met kids over 10 years old and done well with them. He would do well with older, respectful, dog-savvy children who can respect his boundaries. He can get overstimulated and may jump up. He seems interested in kids when out on walks and would likely be gentle and kind to children. Hammy gets three 30-minute walks a day, plus some pee breaks. He also gets indoor enrichment like puzzle toys and bully sticks. Hammy can pull on leash when he gets excited but is working with his foster on loose leash walking. He seems comfortable outside and doesn’t react too much to anything he comes across (except the odd very loud noise). He can sometimes be overeager to meet new people or dogs but his fosters are working on this and practicing “engage/disengage”. Hammy is very good in the house. He is not crated and has been left for up to 2 hours on his own and is slowly increasing that time. He can take a bit to settle but will eventually lie down and rest while his fosters are out. He has tried to chew things he shouldn’t when he is in a playful mood but is easily redirected. He likes to nap during the day and sleeps through the night in bed with his fosters. Hammy is very dog-social and loves playing with other dogs on the farm in Tennessee. Since coming into foster care he has not interacted with any dogs yet. When he sees other dogs on leash he tends to jump up and pull towards them. He wants to engage but needs to learn proper manners and a calmer approach. He would do great in a home with other dogs who are respectful of his boundaries. He would require proper introductions before meeting any new dogs. He currently lives with two cats and is curious and playful with them but mostly leaves them alone. Hammy is working on basic obedience but his current training mostly focuses on loose leash walking and getting his attention while out on walks. He is working on polite greetings and leash walking. Hammy is potty trained. Hammy’s perfect forever family would be patient and have time to focus on his training. He needs a family that can provide lots of walks, adventures, and hikes, as well as enrichment. He would do best in a family that is knowledgeable about canine body language. He would do best in a home with a yard where he can get some zoomies out and would prefer to be in a quieter area rather than right downtown. Hammy is a total sweetie and a joy to be around. He is silly and goofy and has a heart of gold. He is eager to please and just wants love. His future family will be very lucky to get him. Hammy has undergone treatment for heartworm. He does not require much in the way of special care but he will need to stay on a heartworm prevention until he has had two negative heartworm tests at least six months apart. Fetch + Releash will cover the cost of the heartworm prevention for the first six months as well as the follow-up heartworm test(s), provided they are done at our partner vet clinic. The adoptive family will then be responsible for covering the cost of the next six months of the heartworm prevention medicine. If you’re interested in adopting Hammy, please apply at https://www.fetchandreleash.ca/adoption-info#adoption-form Hammy’s adoption fee is $850. Story
Loyal, fun, very sweet !Belle is a foster to adopt because her spay date is pending! ( finishing her heat and awaiting availability) Once she is spayed, we will finalize the adoption. Belle is a beautiful girl looking for a loving forever home! She is super sweet and loves belly rubs! She walks very well on a leash and is very friendly with people. She loves attention and will do just about anything with you! She lived with cats and another dog in the house she was at before. Because she is not spayed, she would be better off going into a home without another dog. She is finishing her heat- so having another dog around in the house would not be in her best interest. Her being the only dog in the house will help her adjust into the new home better. She is very smart and catches on to new things nicely. If you have any questions about Miss Belle, or you would like to come meet her, please call Upper Credit Humane Society at 519.833.2287 or email at info@uppercredit.com

Story
We brought this fur baby home two and half years ago - while me and my ex-husband were still together. We had safety to take good care of him then but now I am extremely hurt that I am unable to withstand this responsibility on my own. If I can find a beautiful home / family to love him like their son and I have extreme satisfaction knowing he will be treated with humaneness, kindness and empathy - along with regular compassion for me to be able to see him regularly till I feel we are comfortable keeping him with you for as long as you are happy to keep him. If that means fostering I am happy to work with that arrangement. He is a cuddler so if you are someone who loves to keep him next to you, all day, he is your boy, although he loves to laze around on his own with his toys in a corner when you are busy. You will be on cloud 9 with this boy - he is my baby boy forever. He needs to be taken out for his walk twice to thrice a day to keep him fresh.

Story
Meet Bruno. He’s a 12 week old Labrador Retriever. He’s super calm, quiet, sweet, and fun puppy. He is such a sweet boy, he adapts to any situations he is put in. On walks, we loves meeting new people and getting pets. He does get a little excited when he sees other dogs so we try to hold him back unless we are aware of the other dog. He is very calm with showers as well, he tries to make a break for it but as long as you keep giving him love and some treats, he will be a trooper. He rarely barks (only when he has to go outside), perfect for families and can be great with kids. He shows no signs of food aggression, in fact he's quite the intuitive eater and stops eating once he's full. He's not fully crate trained, but he always goes into the crate when told to and now he's started going in for his naps as well. He's a very quick learner and knows basic commands like sit and come, and recognizes his name. He thrives on a set schedule and will make the perfect addition to any family.

Story
Bob is a great dog! He has the temperament and personality of a lab. He’s easy-going, affectionate, goofy and totally focused on his humans. He has a lot of energy when he needs it - loves walks and bolting around the yard. That being said, his exercise needs are pretty flexible. When the weather is inclement, he’s just as happy to lounge indoors and still crashes for the night around 8. Bob is good with basic commands (sit, down, stay) and comes reliably when called. He likes learning new things - lives to impress his humans. He loves new people, gets along with any dog and ignores cats. There’s not much else to say. Basically, Bob is a great dog. He’s a lot of fun to have around - sweet, fearless, always up for anything. April 19, 2024, 1:18 pm
