Story
Jai – Lab Mix / 1 Year / 16 kg / F-Spayed Embark on a tail-wagging adventure and step into the pawsome world that is "A Day in the Life" of Jai. Jai is perfectly happy to mirror her schedule to align with the humans. If you stay up late, ok by Jai! If you are an early riser, ok by Jai! She can go with the flow, provided breakfast will be served, and she can hang with her crew (canine and human). She loves her morning walks, taking in the sights and sounds. She was initially a bit unsure of it all, but her back is straighter, her head is higher, and tail-tucking is becoming a thing of the past. While her foster parents are working from home, Jai will venture into her crate (door open) or find the coziest bed to curl up in. Her inner-lab has her pondering a few peeks onto the countertops, she is actually very polite. She is learning to sit politely to wait for her meals. After her dinner, she is thrilled to go for her evening walk: she loves to see new dogs and figure out "new friend???". For Jai, she knows that she loves every dog, but she is not the kind of girl to make the first move. Post walk, she is happy to run around the yard. In fact, the yard may be her happy place, and she has a special skill of running and squeaking her toys at the same time. We are told that she loved swimming at the shelter, so we suspect she may be thrilled to know that her foster home has a pool! Post evening romp, she is happy to chill with her canine foster siblings, and is the perfect house guest. We know that she would love a canine dog pal in her future home - both for playtime and for confidence. Her humans should be able to dedicate a good amount of time to walks (3x a day at least) and playtime. A secure yard is a must for Jai. She did pass her cat test in Mexico, and if there are kids in the home, older is better (she must have had a past experience with kids as she can be quite cautious around them). If you have what Jai needs, we would love to see your application. Check us out at www.dibsrescue.com. Her adoption fee is $750. If you are a family with older kids, please check out our resources on kids and dogs before you apply. (https://dibsrescue.com/kids-dogs).

Story
Max is a gentle giant. He enjoys cuddles and company from his people. He enjoys a good nap and short walks throughout the day. Max is very affectionate with his people but he can bark and be nervous around strangers. It’s important to always have new people meet him with lots of treats.  https://www.dogtales.ca/max Max was surrendered to us for severe weight loss and sore joints. After investing further we discovered he has an immune disease called IMPA or immune mediated polyarthritis. This is an abnormal immune response targeted at his joints. This means that Max even at his young age is experiencing extreme pain in his joints due to the severe arthritis caused by the disease. We are currently treating Max's pain with strong medication 3 times a day, as well as a steroid to help suppress his immune system and therefore help to reduce the progression of the disease.  Max has good and bad days, some days he feels like a puppy again, and others where he cannot get around very well. We use supports for him such as a help em up harness as well as a sling around his belly to help support him while he takes his walks. Due to Max’s condition, he is still being evaluated with dogs. Currently he is not reactive to others.

Zorro is very friendly - he loves attention and especially cuddling! We are still evaluating him with dogs, but so far he has been good around them. He has some medical issues that we are currently looking into. He is not able to go up or down stairs but is comfortable being carried. He is very mobile otherwise. https://www.dogtales.ca/zorro

Story
Rita is sure to pull on your heart strings with her gentle tail wag and sweet demeanor. Rita is very attached and loyal to her owners. She needs time to trust new people, and it will take patience for her to make human friends. Lots of treats, positive reinforcement and slow introductions are the right way to go. When Rita is rushed meeting new people she can have a bad reaction and bite, so it is very important she interacts with people when she is comfortable. Rita can be leash reactive towards dogs and strangers. She can sometimes make friends with dogs, with a careful muzzled introduction. Rita reacts less when you incorporate lots of positive reinforcement and distance from her trigger, and she will need this type of training longterm to ensure her reactivity does not regress. Rita would do best in a teen only home. https://www.dogtales.ca/rita
