Story
Max is a gentle giant. He enjoys cuddles and company from his people. He enjoys a good nap and short walks throughout the day. Max is very affectionate with his people but he can bark and be nervous around strangers. It’s important to always have new people meet him with lots of treats.  https://www.dogtales.ca/max Max was surrendered to us for severe weight loss and sore joints. After investing further we discovered he has an immune disease called IMPA or immune mediated polyarthritis. This is an abnormal immune response targeted at his joints. This means that Max even at his young age is experiencing extreme pain in his joints due to the severe arthritis caused by the disease. We are currently treating Max's pain with strong medication 3 times a day, as well as a steroid to help suppress his immune system and therefore help to reduce the progression of the disease.  Max has good and bad days, some days he feels like a puppy again, and others where he cannot get around very well. We use supports for him such as a help em up harness as well as a sling around his belly to help support him while he takes his walks. Due to Max’s condition, he is still being evaluated with dogs. Currently he is not reactive to others.

Story
Zorro is very friendly - he loves attention and especially cuddling! We are still evaluating him with dogs, but so far he has been good around them. He has some medical issues that we are currently looking into. He is not able to go up or down stairs but is comfortable being carried. He is very mobile otherwise. https://www.dogtales.ca/zorro

Story
Rita is sure to pull on your heart strings with her gentle tail wag and sweet demeanor. Rita is very attached and loyal to her owners. She needs time to trust new people, and it will take patience for her to make human friends. Lots of treats, positive reinforcement and slow introductions are the right way to go. When Rita is rushed meeting new people she can have a bad reaction and bite, so it is very important she interacts with people when she is comfortable. Rita can be leash reactive towards dogs and strangers. She can sometimes make friends with dogs, with a careful muzzled introduction. Rita reacts less when you incorporate lots of positive reinforcement and distance from her trigger, and she will need this type of training longterm to ensure her reactivity does not regress. Rita would do best in a teen only home. https://www.dogtales.ca/rita

Story
Charm 🍀 AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION Located in Milton, ON My name is Charm. I am 10 weeks old and I am a sweet and playful Lab mix (male). I believe I am going to be medium sized when I am fully grown. My foster family describes me as fun, playful, smart, and well behaved. I spend my days with cats and another dog - and we all get along great! I am also fine with kids and live to play. I of course am still a baby so little kiddos may be scared of my puppy play. I am good in my crate and I am doing so well with my house training. My foster family loves taking me out on walks and also letting me run in the backyard. I am good on car rides and love to join my foster family on adventures. I recently went to a baseball game! I love toys and am looking for a nice comfy bed, some toys and of course lots of love from my new family. If you think I would make the best companion for you please fill out an application! I have been vaccinated with my age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, been given flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and I have been neutered and microchipped.
