Story
Hi everyone! My name is Blanche, and I'm a 1-year-old pup who was rescued from a remote community in Manitoba. When I arrived in the GTA, I couldn't wait to get out of my crate and meet my new foster parents. The first thing I received was belly rubs, and I knew I was going to like it here! I'm still settling into my new life. My foster sister has taken a little time to warm up to me because my puppy energy can be a bit much, but I'm learning when to give her space. We're starting to play together more, and I love chasing balls around the backyard and having the occasional game of chase with her. As you can imagine, I'm still getting used to the domesticated life. I sleep nicely in my crate every night and absolutely love snuggling with my foster parents and soaking up all the belly rubs I can get. My foster parents introduced me to a toy box, and I've learned that toys are much more fun than taking their shoes... oops! During the day, I'm happy to relax around the house with my foster sister while my foster mom works in the other room. I'm also making great progress with my leash manners, although I still get very excited when I spot squirrels! I'm not quite sure what cats are yet, so if I meet one, I'd need a slow and proper introduction. I'm a sweet, happy girl with lots of love to give, and I can't wait to meet more people. I hope that one day I'll find my forever family. Until then, I'll keep learning, growing, and sharing my love with everyone I meet. I know I'll love my future family just as much as I love my foster family. Could that family be you? Labrador Retriever American Bulldog

Not good with cats, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Chance is a 1.5 year old, 75 lb,  Black Lab/American Bulldog mix. His family loves him dearly but he is determined to chase and pin the cats in his home and, for that reason, his family is hoping to rehome him to a new home without cats or small animals. He is house and crate trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date with all of his vaccinations. He sleeps all night in the crate and is fine crated during the day while his people are at work.  They are currently crating him when they can't watch him for the safety of the cats. Chance is a medium energy dog who is food motivated and eager to learn. He has had some basic obedience training and walks well on a leash.    He loves his walks and playing fetch or a good game of tug in the yard. Chance has limited experience with other dogs and has not lived with another dog but has been OK meeting and greeting other dogs of a similar or bigger size on leash walks. We would not recommend a home with a smaller dog based on his behaviour with cats. He doesn't travel in the car often but when he does he lays down or just looks out the windows.  He has demonstrated some guarding behaviour with items like shoes, dish towels, and balls but will easily trade those treasures for a higher value item such as a food treat.  Chance is a bit of a bull in a china shop and may run into or knock down young children and, due to this and his resource guarding, we recommend a home without children 12 years and under.  If you feel this dashing doggy would be a great fit for your home please complete the Adoption Application on our website.   Due to time constraints, we cannot respond to every email asking for more information on a dog. Please carefully review the bio for the dog and our adoption process https://www.speakingofdogs.com/adoption/adoption-process/.  If you are still interested in adopting, please fill out the adoption application form at the bottom of that page.August 23, 2026, 12:45 pm

Story
Brown is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet! His enthusiasm is contagious, and he finds pure joy in just about everything—walks, treats, belly rubs, and all the love he can get. With his high energy, Brown is looking for an active family who can provide plenty of exercise and ongoing training to keep him engaged and happy. He’s wonderful with people, including children, but his excitement can make him a bit jumpy, so a home without very small kids would be best. Brown is currently being assessed for his interactions with other dogs. He’s doing well with female dogs but will need slow and careful introductions to ensure positive relationships with other canine companions. Resilient and full of spirit, Brown has overcome a lot. He was transferred to us from another shelter, where he was rescued from a neglect and cruelty situation. Shortly after arriving, Brown was diagnosed with leishmaniasis, a disease transmitted by sand fly that requires daily medication and routine blood and urine testing. He also tested positive for two tick-borne diseases, Ehrlichia and Anaplasma, both of which have been successfully treated, though his blood values still need regular monitoring. Despite these challenges, Brown’s vibrant personality hasn’t wavered. He was recently diagnosed with pemphigus foliaceus, an immune disorder affecting his skin, but with treatment of a low-dose steroid, he’s doing well. Is Brown the loving, resilient companion you’ve been waiting for? His medical needs don’t slow him down, and they shouldn't slow you down from welcoming this wonderful boy into your home!

Story
Timon is a German Pointer mix with a sharp mind and a deep devotion to his people. This intelligent boy thrives in a structured environment where he can put his skills to good use—whether it's playing a game of fetch, learning new commands, or simply being by your side. While Timon is incredibly loyal to those he trusts, he needs time and patience when meeting new people. Slow, muzzled introductions are essential to help him feel safe and build positive associations. He also has some resource-guarding tendencies, so he’ll need an experienced adopter who understands how to manage and work through this behavior with consistency and confidence. Because of his breed and personality, Timon will do best in a home familiar with working breeds—one that can provide both mental and physical enrichment. With the right guidance, he will make an incredible companion for someone who respects his boundaries and is committed to continuing his training. Timon isn’t the kind of dog for everyone, but for the right person, he will be an unshakable, devoted companion. If you have experience with dogs like him and are looking for a smart, loving partner, Timon is ready to meet you!
