Story

Marshmallow is a kind and loving dog. She is loyal and attuned to her surroundings and where her people are at all times. We rescued her 9 years ago, and sadly no longer have an environment in which she can thrive. Mellow needs land to run and space to explore. When staying on properties with some acreage, she is the perfect dog. Explores a little, always comes back. In town, where she is now, she is constantly running away to explore. Although she always returns she's upsetting neighbours. We dont want to keep her tied up all day, and she knows how to jump fences. She is great with kids and medium and large dogs. Small dogs seem to remind her of squirrels, which she does not like. Cats don't normally phase her, but our cat seems to bother her at the water bowl lately. Men make her nervous. She is never violent but very vocal. She loves to go on hikes, sleep on beds, bask in the sun. Farm animals dont phase her, she happily shares her backyard with chickens.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.SWEETIE PIE hails from the Northern community of Sandy Lake and came south with her two sisters, Honey Bunch and Lovey Dovey, (known as the Valentine Trio) and she’s now looking to find her forever home. She’s received her first two sets of vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and has been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We really don’t know the size she’ll grow to be as we have no information on either parent. The same can be said about the breeds we’ve stated as we just go by what she looks like. There is a picture of her with her 2 siblings and one looks just like her and the other is a Husky. Although her post states she has blue eyes she actually has one blue and one green. She’s a very affectionate puppy and is also a real cuddler and loves to be cuddled and held. She’s very curious about the world around her and loves to investigate anything new she finds. She can be rambunctious at times with her sisters so it could be said she’s the most outgoing of the three. She’s currently teething so she has lots of chew toys including Nyla bones to keep her little teeth busy. SWEETIE PIE’s crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is a work in progress still and that’s mainly due to the very cold weather. When she’s taken outside for a bathroom break she simply turns around and wants back in the house again. She is working on it though but in the meantime she uses pee pads in the home. She’s only just started to go for short walks and like all puppies she’ll excitedly race ahead of you. She enjoys her food and has just been introduced to treats which she also loves. She does have good manners and will “sit” for her meals and also take her treats “gentle.” SWEETIE PIE’s ideal family should have some Husky experience as although she’s a very gentle girl right now, the older she gets the more challenging she could become. They should also be an active one that loves the outdoors as we know once she’s a bigger girl she’ll love to be outside and want to be adventurous and go on hikes and long walks on the trails. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. There’s no other dog (than her sisters) in her foster home so if there’s one in her new home they should be gentle and calm. It’s recommended that a slow introduction be made between them as well and the dog kept leashed for the first initial introductions. She should do well with a cat as she is fostered with one. She can be an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time every day. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving, gentle and kind towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. SWEETIE PIE, like all puppies, is cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have her spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in her onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.
